I played against a couple of Giefs today and came to a weird realization: I don’t enjoy playing against him in this game. I’m not sure why, but something about how he plays here bothers me. He is awesome to fight in ST (even though I play a character that basically beats him free) and in SF4 I played one who had a terrible match up but it was still really interesting to play.
Not sure why but in SF5 it just feels very lackluster. Might be because fighting Gief in this game shows you how shitty footsies are overall. He has all these cool normals he could hit in SF4, in this game its basically random ass cr.lps and weird nonsense.
I bought SFV’s complete edition in the last christmas sale, grinded fight money with every character before AE came out, and now I have 650k fm. Only bought Cody, Falke and G this season.
-VT3 is unnecessary,same story for additional CA’s, V-Skill and V-Reversals, mostly because we don’t know if Capcom will fail again with the V-System of some characters. I vote for an improvement on the useless ones, especially for characters who needed. Guile has 2 good VTs, some low tiers have barely one so-so one. Same story for VS and VRs, better improving the weaker ones.
-plus oB CCs are against commitment and in general some CCs are useful to the point there’s little risk on using it. If I get hit by a risky CC I’m fine considering the reward, but isn’t hard spacing correctly even those who are at -4 and the punish isn’t big. I prefer a complete rid of CCs on neutral and reverting the no scaling after using it vs reversals, but people will cry a river if you take off their Hail Mary button,so whatever. A tone down to them is necessary anyway.
-They can add what they want after fixing the netcode and the input lag, playing SFV on PS4 looks like running into the mud.
-Tone down the lights were EX horizontal moves or at least make them punishable.
Capcom just failed with him from the beginning. Fighting a strong Gief if you don’t have a good MU vs him it’s frustrating, but making the character almost useless is frustrating also for who loves him. It’s very easy to make SFV Zangief super good, he lost his GH but has tools to compete with zoners. His nerfs coupled with Guiles invasion makes him useless, Capcom will buff him again next season.
I have never ever enjoyed fighting Zangief in this game or basically any other game that he have ever been in. And i don’t even like Mike Haggar in MVC.
Don’t get me wrong, i love Gief as a character and he is fun to play but he have always been a massive pain in the ass to play against.
I would take SF5 Gief over SF4’s Gief simply because he can’t mash SPD between my blockstrings all the time.
Yeah SFIV Gief wasn’t fun for anyone that had short buttons. He was a character that outbuttoned you and you couldn’t rushdown because his SPD sucked up any gaps in frame traps. Basically he got to have all the fun and you had not a whole lot to do in comparison. Only the absolute nuttiest of the rushdown could put him on his back regularly.
SFV Gief isn’t going to get any better normals because like Ryu, he has a 2 button move that absorbs normals (that doesn’t need to be used on reaction or pure guess like Ryu’s parry). That’s his way to bully buttons in this game so they not gonna give him too much more.
So today i was fighting Iamstilldadaddy on stream.
I beat his G and then on Discord a friend messaged me and asked me why did i go to his stream, which i didn’t.
Then i looked up the archives and after the match, a dude started typing messages using a name similar to my CFN name and they started going back and forth.
Long story short, i got my ass banned from stream and game without ever actually being in that stream chat lmao.
i swear the shit people do, so someone would create a user and steal my name just to troll that dude. That is incredibly stupid.
Anyways, now i am almost at 28K. Just a bit more to get that sweet M.
i have stopped playing Mika since 3.5 because i wanted to focus all of my energy on Chun, just to be the best that i could be with her, despite me actually believing that Mika is a much better character since 3.5 day 1.
I play Cody on the side, but i am not ready yet to bust him out in ranked matches. I did smurf a Cody account to ultra plat but didn’t keep going after that. Honestly, i still haven’t played ranked much. Today was my 1st session in 3 weeks. Overall i have about maybe 1100 match total or maybe less on ranked.
I like playing long sets much more, i figured that Ed info out when i played a long set vs an Ed. But i wanna get that Master rank because i know i can, and i honestly think i can get GM as well.
For now, i still have the most fun with Chun and that is who i am going with. i like VT Cody a lot but his regular form is so dull for me to play him in a main capacity. I think he is better than Chun as well.
