It’s not just about what the other character is doing; think about the difference in the motion of your own arm if you go from shadow boxing to hitting a punching bag. Hit-stop is a visual hack that approximates that difference.

For Alex, all you need to do is neutral jump. He’s actually pretty high up which gives you time. It’s not that hard to do as long as he isn’t also forcing you to watch your toes.
Preemptively neutral jumping helps too, signals to the Alex player that he can’t just go YOLO with them from outside footsies.

I fucking hate DP motions and the person who came up with them and all these other dumb ass motions should be burned at the stake.
Bonus points for DP motions on the same button and in the same direction as a qcf, especially when the opposite direction has no motions attached to it. It’s fucking stupid.
