Capcom’s trend has been to release major updates to the game every few years introducing new mechanics. We already got AE with new v triggers, it’s likely if they keep supporting the game they’ll release another major update.

A3 is a completely different game compared to A2.
3S added red parry and just fined tuned scaling and some other mechanics.
SSF4 added second ultras, USF4 added ground techs and red focus.
Outside of balancing Capcom doesn’t really add a lot to a game unless its a whole brand new edition. They already sort of blew their load with SF5: AE. It’d be very uncharacteristic for them to sneak in brand new system changes on a mid year balance update.

I dont think they’ll be releasing new mechanics within the next few months. It’s what i think will be coming with the game in the next major update. April patch is nothing more than a rebalancing patch.

Implemented what major update? you mean the one earlier this month? that’s nothing more than an over glorified mid season patch.
I’m talking about a brand new edition just like the arcade edition at the end of 2017 obviously. That was the whole point of my post.
They already relaunched the game with Arcade Edition. That’s why it isn’t likely they’ll add anything more; hence why its very likely X-Kira is wrong.

It’s likely they will relaunch it again before they’re done with this game. Just like they did with earlier titles. We got season 3, season 4 looks very likely. Get a new relaunch going, with 12 new characters and new mechanics. And you got a new game.
Capcom pretty much said that they’d stick with one edition of SFV, which locks them out of the “brand new edition” tactic that they’ve used in the past. (There are also whatever promises and obligations they’ve made with Sony.) Capcom probably eithers keep adding to SFV, or they make SF6.
SFIV is arguably the precedent for SFV. Like you said, SFIV received second ultras in Super. Ultra added the ability to take both, in addition to red focus. And then we got OMEGA mode, where the whole game was shaken up and characters got new combos and new moves.
So it wouldn’t be out of character for Capcom to add more stuff to SFV. Particularly if they have hopes for the arcade machine to be anything more than a temporary presence. (EDIT: Or even if they do plan for it to just be a temporary presence. Throwing out the SFV equivalent of OMEGA to end new additions…)
I think SF6 will launch with the new generation of consoles and pc.
I can see them adding more stuff to SF5 for about 2 years but slowing it down to easily make room for their new SF title.
