SFV Lounge: It was coming and it CAME HOME. Ono is your Evo 2018 Chamion

Yep, that’s generally how fireballs work. The thing is though that his fireball doesn’t have much range. So their jumpins will have to be pre emptive since you aren’t throwing them from like 3/4 screen. If they get froggy with the neutral jumps against your fireball/fhp, then you can snipe them with BHP

I tend to wait to throw his fireballs until after I’ve AAd my opponent once or twice. IDK, haven’t had much trouble abusing them, but I play fireball characters that have shitty fireballs like ken and urien so…yeah. My basic setup is play the wiff buffer game. This will make them jump or start to try to hit my pokes. If they are trying to hit my pokes like a good player, that’s when the fireballs come out. If they are bad and trying to jump my pokes, I just bait into the AA.

Like his neutral isn’t great by any means, but he can slow shit down and play at his own pace and I can’t ask for much more than that from a CG character that has a fireball

I don’t know if G will end up being good, but he seems like he’ll be fun. If you want to win a tourney, you know which 7-9 characters you should be playing.

If you want to have fun with the game, don’t worry about them being good and just learn to do silly shit to people.

Gs Up, Thots down.

Besides Nemo, what player could bring G’s potential? Xian?

I’m gonna side Kolin for a bit.

I like G…

I agree, there’s no reason to focus on how much strong they are, focus on if they are fun for you first. Some people are happy just for having a character who let them play SF like they always does, that’s a good starting point. Sagat is a classic and G is something new/fresh, everybody should be satisfied. There’s time for pro players to develop them enough if they want, the others better just enjoy themselves.

G seems like a strong character outside of the top tiers much like necalli

He’s biggest weakness is no 3 framer and reversal which is a pretty big deal, however he has amazing damage and great utility.

He has potential.

Sagat is a neutral monster, he has a lot of potential. Truthfully his ceiling is actually higher than g’s mostly because sagat is only going to be as good as the player.

He’s almost playing a completely different game than the rest of the cast. He actually feels like he’s playing streetfighter.

Thank goodness for a dp that AA from frame one :raised_hands:t5:

Sagat is very well made all the way down to his animations. Suck my dick if you feel other wise. Color 6 default is mine, fuck off. I’m maining Sagat w/ VT2 he is mine and I’m going to steal tech.

oh boy my next post…

I quit this thread

That alt is straight flames. Too bad replacing Donald G Duffs is disrespectful to the President of the United Lands of Pangea.

Funny thing is I’m probably near the only Falke that I’ve seen really use her s.LK. Even Oil King and Ginon barely use it.

I still don’t like this game’s underlying mechanics and yolo approach to offense… But Sagat is my jam, as he always has been. Certain matches are going to be hella frustrating from what little of them I’ve played. Characters like Cammy, Mika, Akuma and Sakura absolutely maul him when they get in with their superior normals. Played the Guile match a bit and it feels even.

But people said he animated bad.

I’ve been using stLK a lot more recently, it’s really good at intercepting people’s slower buttons before they come out, she can get really annoying in the neutral.

Yo, it deadass feels like the world stops moving when G whiffs his command grab.

Btw, Sagat is so fun to play :star_struck:

Gonna mess around with G a bit more later today.

G is fun as fuck. Maximizing his presidency installs is the biggest thing about him for sure. Reminds me a lot of Jam’s cards in Guilty Gear but its way harder in SFV since you gotta worry about quickrise n shit.
I def think his biggest thing will be using President Install during his specials because once you’re maxed you get literally free EX moves that last forever. Or knocked down. When you get knocked down as G and level down I literally feel depressed.

True. That’s why if I were to play him I’d probably go with VT1. Just because VT1 means can be level 3 pres until time runs out. He has the health, stun and v gauge build options to make it worth it. If you were at level 2 pres and land a combo near the end, might get a shot to get to level 3. I imagine you can’t stack pres levels during VT1 and jump out into levl 2/3 pres since that would be kinda cheap.

I mentioned that a couple of hours ago. You can’t gain or lose levels in VT1. Whatever Level you were at prior to entering the VT, you’ll be at when you leave. You can still use the Charge though, which is good as he has setups requiring the frame kill the Charge provides.

I wish that guy who did slo-mo of each S1 character was still around :frowning:

Edit: Also G is well animated too, people are just being too picky when it comes to G and Sagat…I don’t see a problem with Cody either except that I like Bum Cody more
