Mika is still the one matchup I study the most. I refuse to be put in a blender. Memories from s1 too strong to forget what that character can do.

Yeah someone of his skillset will get to the top top dudes, but then it kinda ends there if it’s your first year. Figured those 2 would take him out nice and easy. He just not gonna have the game down like they do. Urien perfect character for anime player. Nemo also big anime/Marvel dude so that plays into Urien well for him.
For me it depends on if the Mika is grab happy or fishing for CCs. I get alot of mileage off backdash when they go for grabs. Lots of buttons? Hold this dp.
Also don’t let her get drop kicks for free.

Season 1 you’re right there probably was no real answer because you effectively were in the corner everytime Mika hit you.
Other seasons if you’re in the corner always jump if you block a j.LK. Almost every Mika command grabs after j.LK. If they do a f+HP probably gonna have to worry about jumping a command grab there too. If they standing reset side switch you just pray you block the right way or bully them out with EX DP if you have one.

Earlier Pertho and DJ were talking about characters that could gain the upperhand over you mentally.
Mika was originally that type of character for me. Whenever I’d see her, I’d just assume I was most likely going to get my ass kicked. I was pretty free to her early on…then I eventually began to look at why she was such an issue for me. Most of the time I would panic once she knocked me down, or was doing Irish Whip. Would try to backdash after a blocked dropkick, or just be afraid to attack on her wakeup.
I eventually got over all of that once I got more attuned with my offense and focused more on shutting her down before she could go HAM. It definitely took awhile, though.

Shotos were the counter-measure of the Mika meta in Season 1, although not by much. They generally did okay against her, while a lot of others had trouble dealing with her in the corner, thanks to meterless DPs. As long as you had something with good vertical coverage then it is usually a concern (both Ken and Ryu’s MP DP were okay against neutral jump, although Ken’s EX DP has more chances of losing from neutral jump depending on the timing of the opponent’s jump because of the lack of vertical control).
Yeah that’s true. They neutrally kept her in check pretty well.
Luckily S2 they just nerfed her scummiest stuff so now the only Mika regularly getting the top spots is the most honest one.
