oh god I hope not. Things are slowly devolving into cassie/jacqui/scorp only. So much of the cast only needs like a tiny amount of buffs to be viable. Most people have the tools, its just the frames are bad.
I played Samurai Shodown a bit at Combo Breaker. One thing I did appreciate is that for all the new polish a lot of fighters have, Samurai Shodown feels every bit like oldest of school Samsho: slow, giant damage, and goofy, fun jank. I had a blast playing it, although there was so many underlying mechanics that I had a hard time trying to study the little pamphlet they kept on the desk.
My primary concern was, like most of us, the online, because if a game like this, which is kinda predicated on reacting to stuff and utilizing mildly stilted movement, there’s no way in hell input delay is gonna do the job. But I guess we’ll see.
All electronics update on Tuesday. I think it originates from the Window’s update cycle due to Tuesday evenings being the least active day for computers…
something something something its cheaper to push out patches and shit when sony/xbox does it on update day, versus any other day of the week. Putting patches through cert costs $$$
You can make the argument that slower overall frame counts for moves means an easier time playing under delay but you’re looking at best 6f delays for online matches, could be rough.
I’m not looking forward to it, no. But the input delay change thing is nice, maybe a hint at what’s to come. MKX released with shit online and it became one of the standard bearers 8 months later…
Y’know, millions of dollars and years of investment after-the-fact, but still!
