SFV Lounge: I'm still alive. Sakura's alt is kinda cute

He constantly dreams about how good SFIV was.

So I assume, ambigious setups and unblockables.

Going back to SFV after playing Samsho is like spending a weekend at the cottage fishing and then hitting up a rave while high on coke.

I miss in early Under Night when S tier was Merkava, Waldstein n’ Gordeau, aka the “long limb boys”, also also known as 16:9 the game.

thats UNIEL, in vanilla UNI the top tier was more similar to the current one. Seth was tops etc.

And a big part of that judgement will be the netcode.

Doesnt matter if its the greatest game in the world if it plays like its underwater.

Only BigTochiro can judge.

Your judgement means nothing.

It really does feel good to take a break from SFV every now and then.

Here’s the thing tho. BigTochiro surely has caught up to the thread. And yet, not a single post on that account.

This silence is rather concerning.

What are you playing instead?

Get that Bloodborne, fam.

Automattock is reviewing a Mobb Deep match on his stream.

Mobb Deep is Diamond. Dude is coming after Twinblades.

That must have been an older match. Mobb is currently Super Plat. He was Diamond and winning quite a bit when I caught some of his stream last week, so I don’t know what happened.

+706 points this time in 25 matches, at 9846 total now. 17 wins, 8 losses. Though I think it was just luck in my favor this time, didn’t really run into the stuff that easily wrecks me (on top of playing for less, I kinda started late). Well, kinda did get bopped at the start, by a Guile and an Ibuki, former I just lost my patience and ran into everything after winning the first game and the 2nd I’m still free to random MK command dashes. Shinryuken vs her V-skill on reaction is nice though.

Right now my biggest weakness, stuff like the above aside, is still not being able to DP certain jumps on reaction, not DP-ing people doing neutral jumps or back jumps in the corner (or neutral jumping my throw attempt) and I keep doing walk under throw vs crossups rather than doing cross cut DPs. Having trouble getting myself to break the former muscle memory and replace it with the latter, especially since this is the first SF game where I mained a character with a DP. Much like how I keep going back to AA jabs, I keep reverting to what worked before (and still kinda works now). That and I need to stop being afraid to throw fireballs like @HighlandFireball keeps telling me…I get too scared of people jumping on me and then I just struggle in the neutral far more. Doesn’t help how jump happy people around this rank tend to be.

Will probably be Super Plat tomorrow evening, hopefully can stay there for at least the day. Just gonna keep drilling DPs before bed and hope my muscle memory cooperates next time I grind.

Hoping I can at least go 3-2 at EVO and beat that scrub @Frost’s tourney record~

Unrelated to all of that, I took a peek at a few of @TWINBLADES ranked matches, to see why he’s stuck…do you ever go into training mode and lab out your movement and neutral options? You seem to have a decent flow you get into if you land a hit, but when you’re in neutral you kinda wiggle in place, press sthp/sthk sometimes and hit Vskill a lot, or just jump in. Your neutral is a huge mess, don’t really have good spacing or positioning at all. You really need to sit down and learn that stuff, your setups are meaningless if you can’t actually get into a position to land them.

Not to mention your defense, you basically press throw or crlp EVERY time you get up off of the ground, whether you see the opponent shimmy you or not. I’m guilty of delay teching a lot as well, it’s okay initially but you need to learn to not do it every time and don’t be afraid to just take the throw sometimes. Mix up your options, try and recognize the opponent’s patterns, look for an opening. You just press stuff like a maniac right now once you’re on your back and your opponents are just knocking you around for it.

Learn to be patient in neutral, learn to be patient on defense, and then you’ll be landing more knockdowns so you can turn your brain off

No. Fucking. Way.

Huh? That’s just standard Kolin neutral man.

Jokes aside @GetTheTables has way better neutral than that and he hasn’t even really started grinding ranked yet

You can see the difference between someone who just plays ranked like mad and someone who takes his time looking into what options he has

I think Twinblades has like 20,000 ranked games right now, or is close to that number. Compare that to, say, Doctrine Dark who only has like 7,800 and is UGM. Or Pertho who’s only about 3000 LP away from Twinblades and only has like 3,000 ranked matches.

You had a better session than me then. I ended up playing for around six hours today and am down about 500 points. I’m going to need to spend a lot more time training if I want to avoid dropping back down to Silver.

Do you take breaks to pop into training and test things out against the stuff that beats you? That’s a lot more efficient than just playing for an extended period in a row.

It may feel slower 'cause you’re playing fewer total games, but it’s a lot more productive in the long run and you’ll feel improvement in fewer games time anyway~

I usually rewatch my replays later and find some things to lab, but today I just focused on playing more games since I tend to stop after only a few matches when playing ranked. Playing that long was probably a mistake, but it got me some more experience against a few characters that I’m not too used to fighting yet.

I was also streaming the matches so Bea could tell me everything I was screwing up.

Kinda funny. With the complete and utter chaos in MvC3 it never stressed me out nor did I feel burnout the way SFV does. I don’t understand.

Ain’t Mobb the Alex that was droppin’ dat tech?
