I don’t think SSFV will be released after EVO, so they are definitely still working on it. But a teaser trailer for the next upgrade would suffice.
We’ll be lucky if we get any new gameplay content immediately after though.

It really depends on the scale of the new edition, but if it is accompanied with a physical re-release, I don’t think we are getting it now.
I think the conservative guess is 1 new character after EVO and the trailer for SSF5. It doesn’t make sense to release a revision to the game before CPT2019.
If SSF5 is a genuinely robust upgrade to the game and gameplay themselves, it will justify the wait period no matter what people say. They could easily make it up by releasing more than 6 characters next year if this is about the season 4 pass or lack thereof.
I think people tend to forget that the S1/2/3 characters were not developed in the years of their release, and were all likely in early stages of development before SF5 even hit the market (meaning they were budgeted for in the initial investment).
If Capcom are going to continue support of SF5 with more characters and more content, they likely approved a totally new budget for everything that is to come, if any.
What will be revealed at EVO will inform us everything we need to know about how successful and how potentially valuable SF5 is to Capcom.

They’ll need to release the remaining 5 chars before 2020 though, atleast to justify packing ssf5 (s3 and s4) to new consumers. Which is why it makes sense to me they’ll release the remaining 5 chars at the end of evo.
Am guessing 3 character reveal at least with 2 more to come and news on an expansion later on/and or a new title, its been 8 months, 1 character reveal ain’t gonna cut it and I doubt that will happen.

The absolute minimum for me would be full 6-8 character release trailer and at least 2 playable the next day.

We aren’t getting anything close to what we feel we deserve (5 characters, new edition, etc).
We’ve been disappointed many times over. Stop letting yourself feel it again.
Nah I’ve never been one to be bothered about releases, but if you put all of your eggs into one basket, you better hope you don’t drop that basket.

There is only 1 empty slot in the character select screen though.
Also new consumers will be getting S1/2/3/4. That is the base package for a re-release not counting other possibilities such as stages and costumes. Which is a huge upgrade for players who never purchased SF5.
The real money that will be made is from the S5 season pass, which they will use SSF5 to push for new and old returning players alike. If I were Capcom, I would push more characters out in S5 than add more than 1-2 characters in S4. This season is done more or less. Go out with a bang next year with the biggest season ever.
