SFV Lounge: I'm still alive. Sakura's alt is kinda cute

@edmund chose to, for you. That’s not the same as having to. He cares about you, and that’s his choice, not yours, and it’s been made. It’s positive, and good.

And @Edmund - I can’t do much other than hope for way, way better things for you, as you surely deserve it. I’m rooting for you.

Damn, MVC2 isn’t available in either Fightcades. That sucks.

I’d really like to see them port this game in the modern gen.

Have you tried a Dreamcast emulator?

I don’t k ow about MvC2 specifically, but they are pretty good.

You could also buy a Dreamcast, they kinda play burned roms.

I had a Dreamcast and the worst thing I ever did was get rid of it,

@Edmund sorry to hear about all the curveballs life keeps throwing at you. I once lost a great girl to a close friend, ruining both relationships immediately.

A decade+ later, I today just took my little son to an autism center for reasons.

@akhos life is all ups and downs. Be patient with it. See you at Smashboards CCI thread if not here.

1 bar of meter in sf4 meant my ibuki could go through your fireball into a KD and get GOOD oki… and I could stick 4 of them per game and didn’t need my meter for much else.

I don’t find anything outside reactive stuff and maybe 1 characters v trigger stuff, hard in sf5. That’s not much of a balance, that’s just straight up easy.

You can buy a new one for under $100 online.

Did I ever mention smooth? We still transitioned that’s the point I’m making. People will always bitch and complain about the new game. but we are used to it. I’ll move on to SF6 even if I don’t agree with it’s game mechanics because the core design tenets of SF are what appeal to me. Smash on the other hand had no core tenets which is why so many stayed with Melee and to this day say it’s the best Smash. It took almost 20 years and 5 games to get everyone back on board. When people bring up Smash as the peak of a grass roots scene I assume they think people from every scene are willing to hold on to the old just because they won more in the old game or something.

Using SF2 as a metric for longevity in the current climate seems pointless. Of course people had a hard time leaving the game that literally started it all.

But like we don’t really have stats on things like people leaving XYZ games in some mass exodus or how many games had overlapping players. We only have the old guard to tell us stuff like this. I say this because I’m pretty sure every fighting game had most of it’s player base leave for the next game. And that was before the esports slant. It’s just common that even if the next game leaves much to be desired that most still play. Smash is an anomaly.

I was referring to the play old games stuff. You were saying they were refusing to do work to keep the SF4 scene cultivated and that’s why I talked about how the player base in large…

move on

However I’m level 10 stupid so whatever point I was trying to make is probably pointless now

Same.

I had all the burned disks and shit too.

Didnt know what i had till it was gone.

Me too. Every single game ever, even Japanese only ones.

MVC2 was my favourite game on it though, I should’ve kept it just for that, and I’d buy a new one but I’d want to use my Hitbox with it… Actually, wait, I wonder if there’s a brook converter for that?

I’ve done it, my Gunbreaker is 80, I can finaly play a different game again!

Summary

Nice mohawk on that ostrich.

Fuck this. Downloading Roms in this day and age is crazy sketchy.

To be honest, now that I’m a grow’d up and have a real job, pirating software isn’t appealing to me any more.

That said there is definitely value in emulators, but most times I just go legit, even if it’s old stuff.

Most roms are abandoware at this point.
