NRS games have always been casual shovelware. Their strenght has always been the fluff and the fanservice. As long as they deliver on both, they get to print money.
They definitely care more about that now than they did in, like, 2008. One thing you can always expect is them to roll with the times. I had an earlier post where I mentioned it was always time and money that prevented that kind of thing from getting seen as a priority, but now things have changed. They literally spent years and millions of dollars to make sure they had the best netcode on the market.
Then again, you’ll always get dumb takes like the one above, so sometimes I think you have to find your niche and just keep it, because damn it’s lucrative lol
Words to live by!
Every shitty MK kn the PS2 made it greatest hit as well as MK vs DC. I understand you hold your dumb ass self in high regard, but the vast majority of MK buyers couldnt give two shits abiut the gameplay.
They’re in it for a billion casual modes and gore fanservice. Those things arw fine, they’re million dollar ideas. But they seriously dont reallt need to invest in much of anything other than having some pride in their product.
The fact that I’ve met multiple peolle who play the MK games for the story mode more or less seals that deal.
Congrats!
Gonna watch some of your replays and hope I can learn something.
You ever thought of taking part in any of the cpt events?

Damn man, ultimate grand master, shooot I’d retire if I ever hit gold lol
They havent nerfed cammy enough is what that says.
I’m sure that the multiple people you’ve met are indicative of the, oh, 5 million + that bought MKX, truly.
My point was that no matter how many of their games are total successes and manage to maintain a massive audience over time, there will always be people who think of the gameplay as ‘shovelware’ with no redeeming values, so they really should just aim for the stars instead.
I’m not saying they’re high art, but there’s clearly something to the gameplay that gets people playing time and again.
For real though, good show!
I need Doc to stop posting before I feel guilty and try to hit ranked
They’ll get think of that way because that’s what they’ve been. Pretty sure they’re actual customers want Motor Kombat to come back more than they want any gameplay adjustments.
If they’re looking at Fortnite as a competitor is because they know what their lane is. People spending time on a free game eats at the casual audience that’d be willing to pay 60 dollars for a bunch of fluff. Sure they can worry about the competitive stuff all they want, but that isn’t paying any bills.
The dudes that could fire up one of the free battle royale games though, those are the ones who do. Because dedicated fans are probably a lot less numbers than what they sell. Casual fans that can look at a bloated game mode select screen and get hype though, that’s going to be the where things are probably looking dicey at them.
Yeah this is the best way to put it, I didn’t know how to say it but you did it best.
It’s all because Brie Larson said in an interview something about wanting more diversity in movies, more people of color and gender and such. But then those young white guys took it as an offense against them and decided to review bomb the shit out of Captain Marvel before it was even released (and honestly the irony of all this is that these are the kind of guys that always blame everything on SJWs being like insecure and making a fuss out of everything, and then in turn they actually become the very thing they hate the most).
Aight time to jump into ranked again, wish me luck yall
Good luck! Get that platinum!
We might even get matched up at ranked because I will play ranked with Gief on my PC account in a bit and that account is only super gold!
It will be fun!
I don’t like customisation outside of fixed tools like comeback mechanics. I like to think I know a match and I lost because the other guy was better than me.
You put customisation in , all you do is spurt 12 different options per character that you now have to learn.
Depends how it’s done. If it’s simple like combo extenders or other special moves then I think that’s ok.
