I don’t think that most of us are saying that he’s confirmed. This is the character anticipation thread, and we’re just talking about the possibilities.
If anything, I think the reaction to the Fei pic is mostly based on the fact that this is the first anything out of Capcom in a while related to a possible new character, and since Ono isn’t exactly spamming these pics (the only other similar pic was for Tiger Beer (i.e., Sagat) over the summer), it’s not a bad guess to make.

I always loved to see return of characters like fei long it brings back the nostalgic feel of 80s-90s underground street fighting tournament and old school kung fu movies… hope he would have the nunchaks…


Haggar and Sodom storyline to avoid conflicts- First it never need to discuss about the event conclusion on final fight while mad gear is just known as a a gang that is assumed to be long gone. That it’s were SFA3 and SF4 left everything. ]No need to discuss and elaborate of those that is nowhere in the game like Cody, Guy and Etc .What about Jessica? Doesn’t need to discuss about her love life. She is just the daughter and everything that is focus is the current events of SFV. Best known example are in SF5 and SF4 we don’t even discuss much about the family related stuffs with Guile, Dhalsim and even the Delta Red the only considered family of Cammy isn’t really discuss or elaborate other than third party materials and references that is nowhere found information within the game.

Mad gear gang has been dissolve for a long time ago they spread throughout the world. This time around Sodom is part of underground illegal wrestling and street fights matches after being long gone and away from Metro City. He simply have no concerns of news and updates about what the others. Making him unaware of the fate and whereabouts his former gang mates the same with the likes of Haggar. There he would be only known as a mysterious shogun fighter with confusing and unknown history. Could be encountered by the likes of Balrog, Ken, Alex, Birdie and Laura.

HAGGAR
The likes on Alex situation in story mode, making him just local friend who owns a gym or referred by someone in america. He would be someone that will inspire and teach the new generation of fighters. Probably the likes of Alex, Laura, Sean and Mika? His legendary status as retire city hero was known to the like of Ken, Karin, Azam, Nash, Tom and Gief. He may also encounter the likes of Birdie for being confused or mistaken to be someone he used to be involve with the Mad Gear.

UMVC3 did separate him from normals like the steel pipe and hard hitting drop kick but Haggar is still labeled as a clone because of the two famed special moves in FG history. The Pile Driver and Lariat is common definition and references used against him for being just another Gief.

Goals : How to re-Invent him to be not anymore another Zangief and play far away from traditional existing grapplers in SFV, While keeping his nostalgic feel intact and not thrown away.

Solutions: is to remove this two moves as regular special moves make them exclusive and irregular move like Ryu’s Shin Shoryuken and Shinkuu Tatsumaki Kyaku. Then take influences from hard hitting brawler and unconventional play style characters like of Colossus of Xmen Cota, Geese, Antonov, Daimon and Krauser from KOF.

A grappler in plot and origins but plays without a special command throw other than a single EX. This is my take to recreate a Capcom grappler to a non-capcom traditional grappler converted with unconventional gameplay style but keeping his nostalgic reference. He never had any debut in an SF fighter unlike the other Final Fight cast. I hope Capcom would consider him someday in a SF fighter.

V-Skill :

Dig/Find/ (MP+MK) - Haggar will do a quick crouch/duck that can dodge an attack then hit/slams/pound the ground for a random power up(can be nothing) to appear for 3 seconds anywhere in the ground of the stage within the perspective of both players, Haggar need to walk through the item to get the buff effect.

Turkey- Adds 5% of Full Stamina
Whiskey- Adds 5% of Full VGauge
Vitamin- Empties/Resets Stun Gauge
Dollar - Adds 5% of Full EXGauge
Knife - Throw able Item by pressing whatever attack button, Can pass through any energy based projectile.

The Knife usage is a references based on his debut in original Final Fight that he could only throw the knife.

V-Reversal : Haggar’s Lariat

V-Trigger: Rage/Heat Up Super Slam/Super Throw - nostalgic reference from his Ring of Destruction version that pushes him to play rush down like in his retro wrestling and beat em up appearances.

Haggar turns Red during activation and Haggar’s HP(Pipe) becomes a completely unblockable punch. That If this punch connects with the opponent, Haggar will initiates a Pile Driver. Up to 3 Pile Drivers. Works even in Jump State. This will also gave him immunity to stun status and dizzy effects because of freezing/pause his stun gauge.

V-Trigger: (Alternative Concept) non-install works like Nash’s Teleport’s by making Haggar Lariat as a COMBO BREAKER - Haggar will do a keep away version Spinning Clothesline that is invulnerable to specials and normals attacks. Can be used to cancel any of your special(non throw) or normals attacks. It’s not a multi-hitting/comboable move like gief but does a big damage in the initial hit then knocks away your opponent to the other side of the screen like Ryu’s HK Tatsu.

New Special Moves exclusive from other Haggar counterparts:

1.) Violent Axe - Appeared in UMVC3 and Ring of Destruction. Works closely to UMVC3 counterpart.

Violent Axe EX version ends with two fist holding launcher that juggles.

2.) Rapid Fire Fist (Special Move Version)- from UMVC3 works similar way to KOF’s Takuma Special Move.

Rapid Fire Fist EX version is Haggar’s Special Lariat - Haggar will do a keep away version Spinning Clothesline that is invulnerable to specials and normals attacks. Can be used to tech-hit normal throws with proper timing and also to cancel any of your special(non throw) or normals attacks. It’s not a multi-hitting/comboable move like gief but does a big damage in the initial hit then knocks away your opponent to the other side of the screen like Ryu’s HK Tatsu.

The move will never go with the decrease life version because it doesn’t feel street fighter and there are other variants that doesn’t cost a life drain. I made it as an EX move not just for personal preference to make it stand out to Gief that lacks an EX version. This would even separate him from Eagle’s Manchester Black and Necro’s Tornado Hook from usefulness and purpose.

When talking about Spinning Lariat many would refer to both capcom characters(Haggar and Gief) to each other because of their fame but in fact it has many variants used in many FG with different properties some notable decent reference would be Wolfang Krauser’s Hurricane Fist from SNK’s Fatal Fury Real Bout that would be an interesting alternative though.

3.) Body Slam - from Might Final Fight. A full body leap attack.

Can be done also on air.

The EX version is 3 hit and has armor.

4.) Gorilla Press/Wrestling Throw - (base from Slam Master and Final Fight 3) is now a counter move like Geese Howard’s Atemi Nage for upper attacks. Weaker buttons for quicker version but less active frames and stronger buttons for longer active frames.

Traditional animation and choreography based on Colossus which is better.

Can be followed by another variation that is throw farther by repeating the same command. Like Colossus’s Body Hold in XMen COTA and another good references Geese Howard’s Raimei Gouha Nage.

The EX version would be finished by an Izuna Drop and never proceeds to Pile Driver. This is a nostalgic reference and loosely base from his Super Move(Final Hammer?) in Final Fight 3.

5.) Grab Head Butt - is now a counter move for lower and mid attacks. Weaker buttons for quicker version but less active frames and stronger buttons for longer active frames.

The EX version is followed by a Suplex that will switch your position.

Normals:

Many would referred him nowadays based from his famed UMVC3 version a parody of his debut in Final Fight. The Pipe as HP and other normals in UMVC3 are already good references but there are a lot more obscure reference that can translate him better like Xmen’s Cota’s Colossus where he could borrow decent normals and some animation stuff.

Since Colossus have strong similarities/likeness to his Ring of Destruction and Final Fight 3 counterpart from physiques, specials and normals if Haggar would be translated to Alpha/Zero style.

Other’s could be with Victor from DS.

Actually, I think I know some of S2 right now:
-Sakura (from Karin/Ibuki’s story, very popular)
-Oro (from Karin/Dhalsim’s story, a good 3S pick in vein of Urien/Alex)
-Sagat (Popular, teased with the Tiger Beer tweet)
-Fei Long (We don’t have an actual rekka character right now, teased recently)

That’s 4 characters, 2 SF2, 1 3S, and 1 Alpha. Fairly reasonable, but I’d expect 1 new, 1 3S, and 3 Final Fight characters:
-New: Ed, Noembelu (notice how she was never fought in Story mode?), Retsu (technically new), or Azam (aerial grappler?)
-3S: Elena (Diversity pick), Makoto (Popular & fits with the system), Q (highly requested), or Dudley (most popular 3S after Ibuki)
-Cody is an obvious pick
-Two from Guy (well-known), Maki (big in Japan), Haggar (teased off and on), Sodom (teased since SFxT, requested), and Poison (popular)*

*I really don’t think Rolento or Hugo will make it in anytime soon. They don’t have as much going for them as other FF characters

If you consider what they said (that they will put an ex FFer only with an ex MGGang), actually Cody + Sodom in the same season will make sense… the most obvious FF pick as pure popularity and the most obvious Alpha char still missing

And on both they can do great things using V-mechanics imho

@“DevilJin 01” 100% agreed here with 3S being my main game and being so happy Chun Li is so similar to her ass kicking 3rd Strike self. She was s***** in SF4 and that really bummed me out.

Cody and Sodom alone seem like such a weird addition. If they are adding FFers just add 4 of them , Cody/Guy and Two villains Rolento/Sodom. or maybe Sodom/Poison.

Sodom seems like a jobber character like Birdie , I dont think he is really going to do anything by himself. So he will need either Rolento or Poison to actually do something in the story.

Capcom was able to produce a reasonable story without icons like Sagat, Sakura or Rose. They also brought an old school girl (aka Karin) back and made her unbeatable fight wise. Furthermore Necalli, who was supposed to be badass, was turned into a pathetic “melted body” plot . So, having said all that, I can deal with any kind of “random” route for Sodom or who else appear down the line.

I doubt they will add 4 FF-related chars in one season, 2-2-2 will be 6 in three seasons

As characters that may make sense as story in team with Sodom, i repeat Retu.
Not only is linked with Sodom, but also with Maki if they want bring her back (i don’t want her, but i think she will arrive)

Also design wise he can be some sort of “SFV Honda” as spiritual successor, if you get what i mean… kinda like some SF3rs were there to substitute some missing SF2rs

Personally, I would love to see all of the characters from SSF2T in this game. For me, it’s hard to imagine a street fighter without Sagat, Blanka, Honda, and then Deejay, T Hawk, and my personal favorite, Fei Long. It’s pretty much a given that Akuma will be included in the near future. Also, I feel that capcom missed out on an opportunity by not using Ryu’s v-trigger to turn him into Evil Ryu (isn’t the v-meter a revenge meter?). The start of the trigger animation would have him tearing the hole in his chest, then teleport towards the opponent kind of like Kens v trigger run. During Ryu’s v-trigger, he should be given the ability to teleport, axe kick, and the additional use of his raging demon as a CA, while maintaining all of his SF5 moves and CA. I know this might piss off allot of people that want to see Evil Ryu as a stand alone, but do we really need another very redundant shoto character? Think about it, how cool would it be to watch Ryu turn evil after getting his ass kicked during a round? Oh and btw, I’m not trying to give Ryu an advantage as Ken is my main.

-Guile: Dynamic, anime-esque zoning
-Ibuki: Kunai mechanic, OTG combos
-Balrog: Specials cancel into V-Skill
-Juri: Stored specials

So what could DLC candidates introduce?
-Sagat: Angry Scar V-System?
-Akuma: No EX moves, multiple supers, 850 HP
-Q: Stored damage resistance
-Oro: Tengu Stone, EX Supers
-Sakura: V-ism/A-Groove combos (maybe too close to Chun/Juri)
-Makoto: Tanden Renki, crazy dashes
-Viper: Feint cancels
-Cody: Knife pickup, handcuff break V-Trigger (too similar to Necalli?)
-Dudley: I don’t have anything.
-Rose: Soul Satellite, maybe an overhauled projectile system?
-Fei: REKKAS, and nunchaku (plz capcom)

-Poison: Stun projectile from Omega mode?

Cody’s V-Skill/V-Trigger should be related to v-ism dodge, there is no contest. Keep the cuffs on, don’t break them.

1- Imho will be cool handcuff break, but i will not want it to be just a necalli style superbuff.
I will like it to be literally just “hands free”, like new and faster punches animations, gain a lot of target combos.
Maybe faster walkspeed (and different animation) too

2- I like the ide of him switching to katanas, but i will prefer it as V-skill so he can switch stance during the fight like Vega does with barehands/claw

Sodom and Eagle IMHO are part of the most underrated SF design from yesterday concept that still standout and deserve spotlight with the rest of the notable concepts like Chun-li unlike the bland and generic ideas of Lee, Retsu, Joe, Mike and Geki that are only timely and trendy in the 90’ era.

Sodom has much broad design space for move sets like special moves since his known to be a cage fighter not the likes of Honda, Gen, Boxer, Adon and etc that is by default is already defined by appearance and presentation even without plots. Sodom and the same with Q has a lot design space.

Eagle

vSkill: Taser- Next attack adds shock when cancelled into SP Moves and Normals. Increase 50% Stun Damage.
vTrigger: Precise/Marksman [Clash] Attack in all weapon attack can counter normals with exact button similar to Guilty Gear and Nullify 1 hit projectiles. No time limit.

Sodom

vSkill: Adds Armor on the Next SP Move.
vTrigger: Shogun all grab finishers ends with explosion. That will add additional damage and juggle state to enemies.

Maki

vSkill: Pass through. a Dash that goes towards the opponent.
vTrigger: Ex teleport in MP or HP by Guy in his Omega mode takes 1 bar.

Blanka

vSkill: MP+MK can be hold Electricity charged can damage enemy near by and adds shock when cancelled into ROLL SP Moves. Increase 50% Stun Damage.
V-Trigger: Shout of Earth similar SF4 Ultra2/Super Electric Thunder from SFEX2 that makes the enemy to CRUMPLE and leave you to Electric charged.

Akuma … has two V-trigger that can upgrade his moveset two times from Shin(no time limit) and Oni(has time limit change back to normal mode) last final form.

Shin mode-
vSkill: (Intro/Win or charging stance) disperse projectile or has fireball negation.

Upgrade

Able to execute a follow up additional Aerial hadouken. The default Aerial hadouken that works closely to Yuri Sakazaki of KOF/AOF Kuuga (Yuri Chou Upper) in “C” button that can be followed up by another version Ura Kuuga (Double Yuri Chou Upper). When turned into Shin his default other follow moves for aerial hadouken are disable until he reverts back.

Oni mode-
vSkill:(Intro/Win or charging stance) it charge up Ex meter.

Replace ordinary Shakunetsu Hadouken with Gorai Hadoken, replace Gou Shoryuken turns into USF4 GouShoryuken. (Oni mode makes him play like the OG Akuma but with Gorai hadoken instead)

Overall Akuma changes in Oni does only make him SF4 Akuma with Gorai Hadouken and EX gauge charge.

Akuma:
During V-trigger Activation would enter a teleport toward like state.

During activation of Akuma’s vSkill, Akuma would Teleport with special time slow properties that can be canceled to specials and supers.

EX version for normal, shin and oni!!

Hadouken EX move has no charge time.

Aerial Hadouken EX move is a double aerial hadouken… will not conflict with Shin upgrade during vTrigger mode that is another hadouken is a follow move like Yuri of KOF/AOF Kuuga (Yuri Chou Upper). During EX follow up moves are disabled

Shoryuken EX move acts like a counter X-Ability in Xmen COTA

Tatsumaki EX move more hits and juggles state the opponent on last hit.

Storyline and Plot

does only need to be a mysterious fighter that will challenge the worthy and strong. No need for huge plot interactions that would complicate.

Raging Demon/Shun Goku Satsu Plot Holes

How to fix Shun Goku Satsu re-interpretion in newer games by turning it to Akuma’s personal misunderstanding or confusion. It is simple by using the first person point of view from an Ansatsuken student that betrayed his own master. Advantage is also from that we have no structured foundation and understanding about the nature Satsu no hadou. Since everything started with a Ryu then with the Zero/Alpha prequels and the lack of Gouken in the past Sf to explain the capabilities and limitation of Shun Goku Satsu is to be shrouded by mysteries the same with Gouken and Gouki. it doesn’t need to elaborate itself in the later or become a main source of conflict and objective for future SF games on wards the timeline. Just don’t ever make a prequel based on Goutetsu that reveal a lot of Satsu no Hadou and Shun Goku Satsu like. Good stuff in Assassins fist and Alpha is that they didn’t elaborate and justify everything related to Satsu no Hadou. It’s just known to be forbidden, dangerous and destructive that’s all.
