I hope they put in some fighters that are nostalgic and make it feel like real authentic street fighting feel from the 80s and 90s with flexible grappelers and Weapon based user like Sodom, Haggar Eagle, Geki then steotype street thugs like like Joe, Mike, Lee to somewhat turned into drunken kung fu man or a monk like Retsu since we haven’t have a monk and drunken kung fu type of fighters. Since we have enough ansatsuken practitioners.
Even mike could return could make him like street type boxing thug we have LACK OF BOXERS in sf universe. and they could rename him like mike john, mike santos, mike dun, micheal, mikey or whatsoever like that. then morph his face a bit and make his body thinner build to differentiate him and avoid confusion from balrog/boxer like they been doing that to birdie and also like they did to RYU to differentiate him from GUY.
Observe the early games in the 90s where they are identical except the body build. SF2 and Final Fight. When Guy appeared in SFZero they make Ryu’s hair brown. In SF4 ryu was change even his gloves. MIKE and JOE is flexible to be morphed into something rather than intruducing a new boxers in the series. It also makes feeds the nostalgic pace and lore of the games and since balrog/boxer has an iconic moves already. his boxing style can be different and moveset that can fit modern day styles of boxing and street fighting. I always into varied style and flexible gamplay.
These guys looks real fighters even without knowledge from plot devices/lore, storyline, history they looks still a AUTHENTIC CREDIBLE real fighters in one look. I hope characters in the future of SF would not be like a Ace Attorney in UMVC3 universe or somewhere changing it formula of the theme near the Skull Girls, Arcana Hearts, DOA vibe for a main a SF game which is STILL okay but SF isn’t same as that universe this isn’t even a dreammatch game, spinoff series like SNK Gals’ Fighters or All star SF game like Dengeki Bunko. Another thing if everyone would notice like for example how DAN is portrayed in SFA to SFA2 he is has a different vibe there the same with SFA Sagat to Sagat SFA3, SF2WW Blanka to SF4 Blanka. I hope they keep the Vibe of serious street fighter. I like what there take with the Dictator they should keep the shroud of mystery and strange feeling. Make the plot uncertain again.
The first street fighter characters can be redone like they did to Birdie from his moveset and persona it was a bravo was of reintroducing him. Incorporating moveset from Ex series was also an excellent idea like D.Dark and Birdie since License is in the hold of Arika. They should give Dhalsim and Blanka a chance since there debut they have unique gameplay and usability in competitive scene not just a character for the STORY LORE or a FILLER because they are more than just another fan service. The game doesn’t need the characters to aged but they need just to make the VIBE feels like 80s and 90s street fighter authenticity… Like how these themes were originally adopted the formula that is replicated by other franchise like Soul Edge, Tekken1, Virtua Figther1, AOF, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown, Slam Masters, Final Fight 1 and Street Fighter 2.
I not against what fan service demands nowadays and not disliking it either but capcom need to cope up with decent real looking fighters balance out to make it feel a real street fighting tournament. They need more grown up characters that are middle aged that is near or greater than 30s whether woman and man that is skilled or profestional grappler weapon based users, mutants and mystic. Like oro, dhalsim, blanka, sodom, rose, haggar or etc. if there would be young fighters that i will be liking to stay would be Juri, R Mika, Maki and Viper. If they would take something from the dolls again let it be WEAPON based users.
It needs a mysterious feel of some fighters in a not so pleasing environment like Mystics, Ninjas, Kung Masters, Violent or Street Smart thugs, Agents, Mutant, Cyborg, Wrestlers a Street FIGHT somewhere were we liked SF2, Tekken 2, AOF, Fatal fury and Final fight. I remember were bombs were tied in to you in game over screen. Birdie and a New Mysterious Dictator is awesome. While Ryu fundamentals and moves fit in as always. Chunli and Cammy aged well. I hope they would cope up with selection. Urien, Alex, Abel, Feilong, Fuerte and Oro is interesting to keep.
