Capcom should do what snk did and just fuse the roster from multiple games. Like have a japan team, africa team, russia team/fatal fury team and have each section as a banner so the “if the roster gets too big” never happens.

That should just be a separate game all together. I.E Capcom Allstars or call it World Warrior Tournament (insert year here).
I’d like to see a guy with Photographic Reflexes (think Taskmaster) as a replacement for Gen. He memorized moves from a bunch of kung-fu movies and switches stances, but each stance is limited in its target combos and special moves, so his fighting style is just a martial arts anachronism.
I don’t like the idea of charaters with such huge movelists in the game. Lei Wulong on SFxTK was an abomination, for example.
Yeah, but Lei without a giant ass moveset just isn’t Lei.
So is Gen an abomination? You know, since he has an abundance of moves with his two stances.

Abel was a tribute to Fedor
Wich was the greatest HW MMA ever had, but also the greatest Sambo dude
Not a coincidence Abel standard design is in Sambo uniform and none of the alts is a MMA outfit (greco-roman/olympic wrestler, commando, beach, french metrosexual, goat)
But even being the greatest don’t represent the classic MMA prototype
He got heavy Sambo gameplan, was all boxing, judo throws, Ground n Pound (in mma, and Abel does’nt use it) and simple submissions like armbar, kimura or chokes
He got great technique, but his arsenal was made like that
In that sense Abel is not even MMA Fedor (who used a lot of GnP) but straight Sambo Fedor, and the uniform represent this well
MMA prototype imho should be a character that use the classic trio of styles: Muay Thai, Wrestling and Brazilian Ju Jitsu
And of course, that use a lot the Ground and Pound in his style, since is basically THE technique that represent MMA to the average audience
I wouldn’t mind Tetsu, Haggar, or Geki. Haggar since everyone else, but him, has been in SF. They could easily make him differ from Gief since storyline they only use each others moves cause Gief stole lariat so he stole SPD or whatever. Tetsu and Geki would be interest as they could build those characters from the ground up since Street Fighter 1 wasn’t exactly in depth with the move set.

Really must Ronda Rousey , she will be the perfect new character for SF5.
I wholeheartedly agree with Ariesno. Modeling a character after a real life famous fighter is a Street fighter tradition (Abel, Boxer, Fei Long to name a few). Rousey is a huge star that is recognizable by most people. It would be great to model a female fighter after her, giving her judo and BJJ skills to go along with her striking.

An old and powerful female fighter is an unexplored venue, I’d definitely be up for that.
Since Gen’s like dying or dead, or…whatever, the amount of old people are probably going down in SFV, so hey why not. Or hell, do the whole “transferred his soul” thing but just have it be into an old lady. Yeah, it’s super weird, but…wouldn’t be the first super-weird WTF thing going on.
SF5 really need new blood , at least 4 old like Nash/Karin/Alex/Urien or whatever + 4-6 newcomers…including one or two that feel real character physically with good fighting style and very popular now like Pacquiao.
