SFV Character Request/Anticipation Thread

I would love it if Capcom adopted some of the SF Ex characters. They did so with Hakan (Darun) but that was a heavily bastardized version.

I’d like to see Hokuto and her brother Kairi, Skullomania, Doctrine Dark, and Garuda absorbed and reinterpreted/imagined into the main SF canon. I think these characters are stand outs in the SF Ex series and shouldn’t be buried/forgotten. Honorable mention go out to Cracker Jack and Pullum (who is a stereotype on steroids).

I would like to see some more European characters. They’ve got Spain, France, and England down. Honestly that’s a decent amount, but I’d like to see one from Germany. My idea would be for a gymnastics/gypsy character from a travelling circus who incorporates acrobatics and secret gyspy energy attacks in some way. Just a random thought.

Hugo’s from Germany

Oops, I failed. I guess they’ve got Europe covered. Well, all that’s left are lame countries like Canada.

Maybe less caucasians and oriental asians? Can we get more South Americans…maybe more Brazilians? More south asians (Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka)? More Africans (Egyptian, South African, etc). Maybe eskimos, other native american tribes? Aborgini?

Just get markov from evolve. He is INVINCIBLE!!!..for…brief periods of time.

South Asia, Middle East, Africa (North and Southern since Africa is HUGE), Eastern Europe and South America. We’re missing out on some great fighters/stereotypes from these regions.

Regarding new characters, I hope they abandon the concept of overtly obnoxious stereotypes as the idea has proven to be quite dated. The last batch (Rufus, Fuerte, Hakan) had a lukewarm reception at best even among the casual players they were aiming for. Also, it really hinders design creativity by turning it backwards: instead of starting first with fighting moves, input playstyle, health, etc and then going for the actual aesthetics (even the gender may be undefined until the middle of the design), they have to go looking in the map for a country to choose, look for a native fighting style and try to implement the moves from an already established model, taking care the moves doesn’t depart too much from it.

I’d rather have them create characters with a touch of sci-fi or fantasy and not even bother with their country of origin, leaving some hints for players to choose from.

Shenlong

I don’t care about stereotypes as long as the characters are interesting and fun.

I’d take a character from Scotland or Ireland any day over Canada or Australia. The “European Distillery” stage was not enough of a shoutout for the 2 most fightingest countries in the world.

You mean like… Rose? Except with crazy wall dive shenanigans? Italy is part of Europe too. Man sometimes I feel people who comment on the forum don’t even play SF.

Again, fuck Canada. Gimme Ireland or Scotland pls.

It pains me greatly to not see such well-diversed characters as part of the main SF cast. Take Area for example. Who else fights wearing roller skates? And of course that detachable mechanical arm of hers that earns you free chip dmg and pressure on wakeup. Such great characters gone to waste…

I always was a little partial to Shadowgeist myself.

Eddie

Bare Knuckles/Streets of Rage came to mind when I read the Area comment. Area is still a great design though.

Actually, as I was typing that, I immediately thought of Grace from Fighting Vipers. But still a rare design to see lol.

You just get bonus points for even remembering Fighting Vipers as it is, lol.

I don’t know these damn loli fighters with a jacket zipper bigger than both their breasts.
