While i like the idea of a serious/cool black chara design, and i can understand that capcom is kinda annoying with theyr white-blond murican fetish (tbh they just make/turn into blond almost every white char they do)ā¦ i like SF to be as much nationality various as possible. And while iām used to see murrica(and japan/china) get multiple slots, specially with a small cast i hope they keep it as minimum they can

Of course you can. Their creation belongs to Capcom. Creating an almost identical character for another company doesnāt make it less of a rip off because your the originator.

There needs to be a Royce Gracie character, BJJ is such a huge fighting style in MMA that there needs to be a character who counters and brings you to the ground and you gotta try and get out of his holds. Like, his mix up is when he takes you down and he can go for different submissions, but you can guess which ones and you can get out of them. Like, he can go for lower or upper body submissions. Give him a roll like Abel to get around fireballs at a certain distance. Maybe make it so he cant jump, itd be very interesting if a game made a character who cant do that at all.

If the rumor get confirmed one of the new characters is brazilian so who know, but if the names are legit it is girl (Laura), and from dropped sketches it seem like a capoeira brazilian character almost did it to SF4
Dudleyās Rolling Thunder got turned into Ippoās dempsey roll and his cross counter works the same way as Miyata. I can imagine his other moves can be re-imagined into other signature attacks of Ippo characters.
Make Dark Cammy the final boss in SF5, and reuse the same voice clip from Cvs2 (untampered with) when she does cannon spike and sounds like a toddler, everytime she cannon spikes. A+ material

As character concept GSP seem great potential under many point of views: canadian (unrepresented), skilled at almost everything(wich kinda fit the idea of MMA representative), stylish appearance and a very SF-like strange contrast between his gentleman athlete with french accent and the fierce reputation of mma
But tbh in some way after Abel it may be a little bit repetitive, as i see him as 75% Fedor and 25% GSP
Anderson is cool but maybe (like Wandy) a lil bit too MT focused to be a good MMA SF char
Maybe i will pick Jon Jonesā¦ a good example of archetype as kinda skinny(as visual impact,i know heās huge) range build, like was SF2 Sagat before go on roids. Also the both arrogant and fun personality can work for SF
A lot of crazy stuff for both striking/grappling: spinning elbows, oblique rangy kicks, clinch stuff, suplex, dhalsim-like eye pokes, crawling stance, elbow ground and pound, some boxing, throws etc etc
Thinking about it he can represent both worlds of mma, but also he add an absolutely unique touch to it
I think Ronda is pretty deserving. Considering how dominant sheās been, and her personality. She just isnāt globally popular like other tribute characters have been like Tyson and Bruce Lee. An issue many current mma fighters will face.
McGregor will not have that problem, though, if heās legit.
Tbh i hope they chose a male fighter, but actually i find her pretty popularā¦ she got that mix of look, domination, skill and marketing/media coverage
Thing is, no matter how good they are, champs of some weight divisions (from male LW to lower) will never get the same respect and legacy perception from the general audience
MMA fanbase have that wierd size fetish if compared to example boxing fanbase

If SF have to pick a face today i can see them go for Cain or Jones, Anderson was another easy pick but he just lost twice (+got caught cheating but doubt fans know/care) so as now kinda lost that āking of his martial artā SF usually chose when do tributesā¦ when Abel was designed Fedor was already no more in his prime, but his win streak and invincible aura was still there, iirc SF4 happened near to Sylvia/Arlovski murders

Iāve decided a character I really want is a midget/dwarf character. Like certain attacks whiff right over him, heās decently agile (but lacks air mobility of any sort (maybe canāt even jump, or has a very narrow arc), can go under fireballs, but canāt block overheads.
That character has bottom tier written all over him. Sure such a character might have a slight edge over projectile users. But heād be completely free against rushdown characters like Dudely and Cammy.
Nah I was thinking theyād have other evasive mechanics to deal with overhead, but itād be more execution required than just hold back instead of down back. Like maybe have a roll through the other characterās legs or something deliberate like that.

Playing KOF2002. I think 2D fighting games could use another whip user. There is only a small handful as far as I know. Ghost Rider, Whip, and Lenny Creston (AoF3) I think are the only ones from 2D FGs. Axl uses in a kurasigama which is a little different (scythe and chain).
I wouldnāt mind seeing a whip user. Could make for an interesting character.
