I actually have no problem with Darkstalkers characters appearing in SF. There’s all kinds of shit in SF, a few monsters will fit in just fine.
I thought they all went to the same school

I don’t think Rival Schools is set in the same universe as Street Fighter, but I’d rather like an alternate reality version of Akira to exist in the Street Fighter universe. She has the guts, the design and the fighting style, I see no reason why she couldn’t appear on Street Fighter T__T
I don’t think Street Fighter needs guest characters at all. Street Fighter’s roster is that cool. And Street Fighter doesn’t need ambigous characters. Like why? Just cause? I agree that a Rival School character merging into SF like Final Fight characters did would be cool. Speaking of which lets get Mike Mother Fucking Hagar in there!
As for a Darkstalkers…I’m on the fence. Yes Street Fighter has some over the top stuff. But Darkstalkers is just down right cartoonish and silly with a Darl tone and some gore. A Darkstalker with all their crazy animations, goofy attacks, and stylised designs would look so out of place in SF. But it could make for some interesting stories. Like Darkstalkers being responsible for the Sastui no hado and their presence causes it to awaken in Ryu or drive Akuma mad. Or Hsein-Ko being Chun-Li’s ancestor. ( Read that in a fan fic )

Well, if Sakura and Akira went to the same school as Aries said, then I’d say that means SF and RS operate in the same universe. All Ryu or Ken would have to do is walk up the street and turn the corner to get to Sakura’s school Not like they’d have to go through a portal like Morrigan does.
So yeah, I’d say it’s feasible that Akira could be in a SF game. She, Batsu, Kyosuke, and Hinata being the most popular I think could easily get in, though my favorite was always Shoma.
The question is normal Akira or Powered Akira with the random helmet?

I wouldn’t like guest characters either, I don’t think it’s necessary or pertinent. But remember Final Fight, Street Fighter and Slam Masters/Muscle Bomber are supposed to be the same universe. While Rival Schools is one or two steps far away.
For what I remember, Sakura’s cameo on Rival Schools was simply a “what if?” situation ("what if Sakura had existed in the Rival Schools Universe), but honesty the Rival Schools universe is something much more tongue in cheek than the Street Fighter universe.
I mean, while in Rival Schools any high school student can be a competent fighter, I don’t think in the Street Fighter universe a soccer player or a photographer could be a fighter, not to mention the violinist that uses musical notes to attack, or A FREAKING GUY THAT SWIMS ON AIR!!
Despite of this, I can see some Rival Schools characters being more or less compatible with the Street Fighter games. Mainly Akira, she has the whole martial arts stuff. Kyosuke could be a nice martial artist, too, and while his style is perhaps too “trendy” for Street Fighter, if Remy can be official in the Street Fighter series, why couldn’t he? Roy Bromwell I actually like much his gameplay, but he’s perhaps too young and too little of a martial artist to work in Street Fighter. As for Batsu, I wouldn’t like him to appear on Street Fighter, simply because I don’t think he can offer much of a good gameplay other than being yet another shoto.
Just saying, just drop all the other Rival Schools stuff and say alternate universe versions of these characters exist somewhere in the Street Fighter universe. Don’t treat them as guest characters but as new permanent Street Fighter characters.
As for Darkstalkers, definitely no. Its style is too different to Street Fighter. Street Fighter is mostly martial arts with some supernatural and sci fi elements, not straight supernatural fantasy like Darkstalers, there’s no way it could work.

Agreed. The only SF character that would fit in Darkstalkers to me, is Twelve. That was the first thing I said when I saw him in 3S. It’s a double standard, because I don’t see, nor want Darkstalkers characters to show up in SF.
I think it’s best to keep Darkstalkers and SF separate, unless in another crossover game, or the much wanted ‘Capcom VS.’ we’ve been asking for to take the place of MvC. Oh, and since I shed a tear each time I remember there will probably never be another Darkstalkers game, if they did make a Capcom VS., then please God let it look like GGXrd.
Anyhoo, back on topic, I’m all for Rival Schools chars joining the fray, but I agree with @Magegg, and that only a select few could show up: Batsu, Kyosuke, Hinata, and Akira. As for Haggar, that’s a logical choice since he’s really the last Final Fight character to not appear in SF, and I’m all for him taking Zangief’s place and going up against Alex.
@Magegg Agreed on Darkstalkers not fitting in with Street Fighter. The characters that come even close to fitting in with Street Fighter are Demetri and Morrigan because they have a some what shoto play style, and Felicia because her attacks mainly consist of scratching and she plays similar to Blanka. But design wise they’d still look out of place, mainly Felicia.

Hinata I would say she better not, she’s a little too ridiculous and over the top/tongue in cheek (shooting tennis shoes, really?), specially compared with Sakura. Sakura is supposed to be the only regular high school student to be able to compete in the Street Figher circuit because she is hell of a talented one, like one in one million, now if you compare Sakura’s moves with Hinata’s, there would simply not make sense.
I’d be in for Akira, Kyosuke, perhaps give Roy a chance, but it would be a no-no for Batsu and Hinata (specially for Hinata).
One thing to note about Rival Schools/Alpha characters:
Those games (Rival Schools by implication since it has Sakura in high school) would take place far enough back that, with our current “before/after SF3” theories, those characters would have aged quite a bit canonically. While Capcom could take the same approach they did with SF4 Sakura, something tells me that won’t happen. The characters would have to have aged quite a bit. This could work in some characters’ favor, namely Karin and the Rival Schools roster, since by then they would be old enough to really compete in the SF universe. If Capcom is going to do something like this, they are going to go for someone highly requested, like Karin, or someone who is very big in Rival Schools, like Batsu.
In fact, an older Sakura would be interesting. Sakura could be having to deal with the Dark Hado as she takes on more skilled opponents should she continue pursuing her career as a fighter (remember, she runs off of raw talent, so she would have issues controlling it). This would inevitably grab Akuma’s attention, so for once she would have a story beyond “Ryu senpai plz notice me”. Ryu could even follow in Gouken’s footsteps (Ryu WAS pretty in control of SNH by SF3) and train Sakura to control it like Gouken did for him.
Darkstalkers characters have appeared in SF. I remind you of Ken’s stage in Alpha 2 where Felicia was in the swimming pool.
I always imagined all the Capcom franchises were in the same universe but they just isolated events from each other.

No, man. Different universe, different timelines.

It was a non serious cameo.

No, dude.
Isn’t Morrigan in that stage as well?
Hsien-Ko, Captain Commando, Lin Kurosawa, and Strider are there as well, but it’s just cameos. However as I mentioned above, the Darkstalkers characters come through a portal to come to the real world for the versus games, and yes, it’s still a different universe and timeline. I love Darkstalkers, but not in my SF.
I played all the versus games and I didn’t see no shit about no portal sucka.

You’re reaching brah. Those were just cameos.
At the risk of going further off topic here, the portal thing is implied, especially given Morrigan’s roles/story in the versus games. She leaves the demon world/dimension, Makai, out of boredom to find something to entertain her. How else would she escape?..either by magic, or a portal of somehow. One could theorize it’s a portal that was opened by the after effects of what Jedah put them through. If Ruby Heart would have been used in Darkstalkers as originally planned, her story from what I remember is that her ship could travel between dimensions.
As it stands, only 2 Capcom franchises really take place in Makai: Darkstalkers and Ghosts 'n Goblins. It makes way more sense for Arthur, Firebrand, or Astorath to show up in Darkstalkers, than for Morrigan, Demitri, or Felicia to show up as playable in SF. Long story short, only could I see the Ghosts 'n Goblins, Red Earth and Darkstalkers franchises sharing characters seamlessly. I would only think these characters would show in a SF game as cameos, like Alpha 2, or in a one-off playful manner like Puzzle Fighter, Gem Fighter, Capcom Fighting Evolution, or the wanted “Capcom VS.”
Capcom is only a single universe within the Marvel vs. Capcom series, which is yet another alternate universe different to Street Fighter.
However, it’s true Morrigan and other characters from Darkstalkers can create dimensional portals, but perhaps in that series there’s only two different “realms” (Demon Realm and Earth Realm), like in Mortal Kombat.
As for that Street Fighter Alpha stage, they’re simply cameos as a sort of inner joke. If we want to stretch, they could be people cosplaying as the Darkstalkers characters, people who happen to resemble characters from Darkstalkers, or the Street Fighter versions of Darkstalkers characters (which had only little resemblance to the ones of the Darkstalkers series), but there’s simply no way Darkstalkers and Street Fighter are set in the same universe.
Bottomline, they’re simply joke cameos and nothing more.
Agreed on Darkstalkers not fitting in with Street Fighter.
Human Talbain would fit.
Isn’t Morrigan in that stage as well?
Damn man, now I’ve got this urge to bust out my old copy of Alpha 3 again.
