It can build meter on whiff like Birdie’s donut. It’s not a 100% requirement it hits to build gauge. The issue would be balancing how much meter it gains.
Or if you know about Kevin Rian from Garou he already had certain follow ups to his floor crawl, but that game had rolls also. Could just be that roll has upper body invincibility (like Vega), or only projectile invincibility and doesn’t go a great distance so it’s not a reliable tool for getting in. I couldn’t imagine roll as a v-skill having forward or back options unless they were for specific follow ups rather than just “go further” with f-MP+MK or “go a very short distance” with b-MP+MK.
Maybe if one follow-up was some kind of arcing projectile that goes over fireballs, and the other one was some quick defensive option so you wouldn’t be stuck in roll animation to go the set distance without a follow up and therefore leaving yourself more vulnerable.
If the poster in London is any sort of indicator, when we see him he’ll be in his FF outfit. His Omega mode version they stated they wanted to bring him back to his Final Fight roots. Lastly the designers had said they originally wanted SF4 Cody to be in the Final Fight form.
I imagine that when he returns (he is pretty much a guaranteed DLC character with his high popularity) he’ll be in his FF garb but still have the handcuffs by choice. I personally picture his round intro to be him casually walking forward and cuffing himself then puts his fists up and says something like “Alright, let’s do this.”
Praying for Akuma is like praying for Donald Trump to say something stupid. It’s gonna happen, it’s only a matter of time, and likely much sooner than you’d expect.
He’ll be either the first DLC character, among the 16 chars, or a hidden character.
Honestly, I hope they don’t announce him in the core roster. I hope there’s a patch for the game and suddenly, after a match where you meet certain criteria, you get challenged by Gouki and that’s how you discover he’s in the game and unlockable.
Well to be honest, the game needs more villains and if Akuma ends up looking and playing radically different to what we are used to (even more radical than Ken, and more along the lines of what happened to Charlie and Oni), then I wouldn’t mind him be part of the original roster - Provided he is a hidden character (i.e. not part of the Supreme 16).
Like Eternal said, if Akuma is not on the disc when we buy it, you can bet your money on him being part the first DLC.
I assume you think ‘cool’ characters fall in one of the following categories: hansom/pretty, fashionable, disgruntled or tortured. Oro is probably one of the most inspired designs to come from 3S. I mean the guy intentionally handicaps himself (fights with one arm) to give other SF characters a fighting chance. He has some of the best win quotes and his personality practically leaps through the screen. He has what at first glance are relatively common tools (DP, Fireball, command grab etc.), but the application of those tools in conjunction with his unique normal game, high stun and mobility make Oro one of the most unique additions to the SF roster. I also like the fact he is ugly. Being good looking has nothing to do with a being a good fighter. Weird fighters help shake up the game and make players approach the game differently. I am all for Oro returning in SFV. In fact, looking at the current roster I can’t see one addition that I appreciate as much as Oro.
oro is for me tied with dudley one of the best characters of the sf universe, the guy has so much potential, his supers are so versatile i just think he has so much scope, you could pretty much take the character into any direction you like, where as somebody like vega or blanka it’s hard to really add anything new to them i mean just look at vega in sf5, the guy is a snoozefest
i mean seriously alex over oro? come on, the guy wears fucking dungarees who the fuck still wears them and is not in the village people?
Too bad we live in the age of data mining and the minute he hits the game it will be spoiled instantly simply for the sake of finding it and telling everyone first or whatever reason drives data miners to data mine stuff.
There are many villains in the SF universe, there is no need to bring in Akuma for that reason. Akuma is a major DLC cash in, so I highly doubt him being in the original 16. Considering Ken and Ryu are already there, they will wait for Akuma DLC. I don’t want to see him at all though unless he is radically reworked. As I said many times, he is bad character design. He is Ryu with many extra tools and better mobility who is given less stamina to compensate. There are many interesting characters that aren’t clones, that were designed in an original fashion, who aren’t a vastly superior version of an already existing character.
Final Fight cody looks a lot cooler than Alpha cody, never liked the prison outfit and handcuffs.
I second the Cody return. Mained him up until 2012 and then just fell out of love with his SF4 version(It’s kinda meh) he’d fit really well into SF5 though, I think they could make a really cool V-Trigger that makes any Cody fan explode - uncuffing himself. Doubt he ever would though, you can’t balance an uncuffed Cody. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I’d like a completely new Cody if he ever did return though, something with a similar moveset but a completely different style and approach, I feel he’d be a character who could benefit from a makeover.
In addition the design decision to use stripes actually was an neat design decision based on his original outfit which already had a sort of stripe motif in it’s color scheme.
Guys how do you feel about guest characters? KI hit another homerun with their new Rash reveal and so did MKX with Predator. Their interpretations of the characters seamlessly fit into their respective universe but kept all their personality.
Is SF that kind of fighter? And which characters do would be a natural fit?
Akuma may be a Shoto clone based off history alone, but you’ve already seen how they’ve reworked Ken in SFV. Besides that, Akuma has been in EVERY cannon SF game, so he will make it in. Just like Chun, Ken and Ryu. Furthermore, there’s a plethora of ways he can be made as unique as Ken. Imagine him have 3S Cr.Mk, SF4 Fst.Hk etc etc.
