The only thing that they can freely change is new planned characters for special moves and CA.
I donāt think Makoto deserve the same treatment like they did with Ibuki in SFV. Makotoās gameplay is unique and interesting compare to ibukiās.
The only chance could be the final season
Weāll in support of Darthās point. They were working on Kolin before SFV launched and she did not release until season 2. That would mean characters are planned at least two years out. The character poll will most likely just determine the release order of who they are already working on. At best, an unplanned character could hit in Season 5.

Iām actually not super opposed to newcomers, but I just want the variety in the roster to be expanded. You have almost half the cast with medium->medium frame traps as their only or optimal game plan since so many tools are neutered in comparison to the older games. Then a sizable group after that are built around throwing some shit out into VTC. Iām most excited for Sagat, G, and Falke for this reason.
For season 4 just give me Rose with a grey hair streak for added sexiness and middle age enforcement and a ton of extra costumes that are all classy, beautiful dresses with a lot of frills!

The last poll before this one has character who didnāt make it in SF4 like Karin who had the #1 spot in the Japanese poll, so Iām very aware about the possibility to donāt get Makoto in SFV at all, but nothing is set in stone until Capcom says otherwise. Until then if my hopes means nothing, the same goes for your sentence if your surname isnāt Ono or whoever decide who deserves to be included.
Source? I think if they want a character to be included they donāt need a 2 years span, they could have a group of choices and decide which character including in the existent roster. Then if Makoto itās there or not thatās another story, but the same goes for every character who previously was playable in a SF game. I can survive anyway, I have still a lot of work to do with Zeku atm, but I canāt be positively surprised by the love my fav character gets?

Tom or Remyās Dad both make a lot of sense as new characters to me. So does Effie.
They could easily change a new character identity within 2-3 months, but not the likes of establish returning characters.
Since a Final Fight character wasnāt intended to be added in SFV in the beginningā¦

I just realized that one of the Shadaloo Soldierās special moves is a bad attempt at a Psycho Crusher. Oh Capcom
