I actually don’t mind Abigail too much (if that is indeed #3). I would prefer Hugo, but I imagine Abigail would be fairly similar, and I like the inclusion of FF characters.
Still hoping for Fei and Sagat (and Sakura, Oro and Makoto) to pop up in odd months as (exclusively paid) content, but I doubt we’ll get that lucky. I mostly just want the game fixed at this point.

I do believe Capcom would push Tom since his not still shown in SFV, they may even add a secondary name like Tom Jones, Tom Cruise etc… be just “Thomas” or make Tom as his alias for a particular organization something.
Andore had a decent meaning too, but maybe it was something to separate him from his FF counterpart during those time…
Other FF FG game during those time used Andore while in SF3 used a different name despite we all know FF is in SF timeline. Capcom might be into something those time that why they had a different name.
1- Well, if they gone more on “Leon the professional” and Tom was an actual hitman/ex-hitman they could have played on it, maybe with an crime org nickname etc… Leon’s one was The Cleaner iirc lol
Instead they gone on the army route, with other soldiers they just gone with simple names like Charlie/Nash, Guile, Byron or name-surname in some cases like Keith Wolfman
If they go for name-surname as tribute to Leon’s actor Jean Reno, will be cool as fuck if they call him Tom Nero*

Also “nero” mean color “black” wich sound cool (give him italian surname will keep Leon’s character tribute too) and even fit his design too

2- Yeah agree, also since SF3 Hugo was kinda the fusion of FF Andores with FF2 boss Bratken, they maybe wanted put emphasis on give central european (Hugo germany, Bratken netherlands) vibe to his name
I ever liked the most that concept of SF3 Hugo as a single individual child-brain “monster” that get tricked by evil peoples (MGG) into do things, instead only focus on wrestling career.
They could have just developed it into Poison (the one that MGG used to control him) feeling guilt for it and free him/escape with him, instead they just straight told the pro wrestling thing.
But i guess make sense since the fall of MGG just gave them the chance to leave
The characterization there was fantastic if they followed that concept, see the SF3 stages
-SF3NG, it’s basically identical from Bratken room full of toys with even a cage where lock him if needed (good luck at that), plus it add wrestling trophies and kid fans gifts

While he doesn’t fit the silhouette as well as Abigail, he’s the same character archetype, and he’d fit into story well because he and Birdie used to be a tag team.
