Isn’t that practically the same? By being a coward, the artist self-imposes censorship on his/her work, out of fear of the backlash from the public and/or the most vocal groups within. The artist should not have to consider this at all, in the first place, and just do whatever he/she wants to do with his/her publication.
I taught I would be safe on SRK, now these censorship threads start to po her up as well.
I allready made my point before and got called SJW for it.
I don’t care about a removed buttslap and I don’t care who did this. I will play this game and a lemmingtrain full of people, that need a buttslap to play the game won’t stop me.
No it’s not the same. People voicing that they don’t like a particular style or subject matter in a medium, is not the same as actualy trying to stop it from being made or forbidding it. If one out of fear removes subject matter or things from their work, that’s on them not having the will to stick to their guns and stand by their work. They chose to cave into society’s norms and expectations. No one made them. And as a creator they should feel ashamed. because that’s the worst thing a artist/creator can do. Because art is suppose to be anything but normal and expected. It’s suppose to challenge what’s normal and or make us see things differently. And honestly I see that with R.Mika.
Unlike the standard female fighting game character, she’s thicker at 158lbs, packs on muscle, and can be sexy yet tough and shows that sexy and tough aren’t exclusive to each other. IMO that butt slap along with the rest if the move showed that. She was flaunting her sex appeal, and at the same time taunting you, letting you know you’re about to get rekt. But that’s just my opinion. There will never be a time where an artist can make content without ever having to worry about what the opinion of the public might be. But any self respecting artist is suppose to say fuck it and do whatever they want with their work anyway.
Now if an artist wants to alter somethings in their work under their own volition that’s cool. But that’s not the case here. Capcom chose to “self censor” themselves out of fear of public opinion, to attract other gamers ( that would be under their own volition which is cool ) or to garner a Teen raiting ( I don’t buy the later ). That’s not on SJWs, or over zealoust feminist. They have the right to voice their opinion on how they don’t like certain aspects of the game or whateves. This is on Capcom for not sticking to their guns. So to those content creators that want to challenge SJWs and stick it to them. When you create something. Just fucking do it. Don’t worry about them, or public opinion. Just fucking do it how you want to do it. And let the chips fall where they may. The guys behind Dragon’s Crown showed that you can do that and succeed.
The amount of skin Chun Li shows in her alt is enough proof the ESRB explanation is BS. The SJWs are fine with Chun because her body proportions are gross to look at.
Mika’s CA was one of the few jokes in SF5 properly crafted and delivered and awesome as a result. With it gone, what remains is the dumb stuff like Gief’s derpcopter that is embarassing to look at. This lowers the expectations for future characters and makes it likelier that they are going to follow Ono’s motto of “when in doubt, go for dumb”.
@javert You can actually see the creases at the base of Chun’s Li’s butt cheeks that form the curves showing where the thigh ends and her ass begins during her CA in her alt. Yet that’s OK but the butt slap isn’t? That’s not adding up. I already stated this in the lounge but I’ll state it here as well.
If Capcom wanted to remove the butt slap and other things they found to risqué in order to appeal to a wider demographic would would other wise be turned away by such fan service. I get that, makes perfect business sense. But here’s what I don’t get. If you’re going to tone down the sex appeal, pardon the pun but this is a half assed attempt at it. Why not go all the way? You removed the butt slap, but Mika, Cammy and Laura are still in thongs. Mika an her friend still mash a person’s head between their butts etc. Neatherealms had the right idea when they decided to tone down the sex appeal and fan service in with MKX. Going as far as to give characters redesigns and new outfits. Even the men. Where as with Capcom they seem to be trying to make everyone happy and appeal to everyone.
Like, they go with the silliest costume design with Laura, her pants looking like they were made for the sole reason of that ass shot in her intro…aaand then alter Mika’s CA scene so that it stops making sense to somebody who never saw the original.
Focus of the camera should always be on whatever is happening in the scene. The camera doesn’t pan towards Akuma’s sandals when he finishes his raging demon either now, does it? At this point, it’d make more sense for Capcom to remove the slap altogether and go back to the drawing board.
Long story short; they did a shit job at whatever they tried to do, for whatever reason. And it bugs me, because it looks like amateur work.
This shouldn’t be a debate. Gaming censorship was tackled in 1993 by Sega and Genesis, it was settled, we like sex and violence, we don’t like censorship. Ratings system. We’re going back 20 years, but just now for different (and even more absurd if you ask me) reasons.
I don’t know what “Gamergate” is or care. All I know is this bizarre “movement” is bizarre and aside from a small handful of people the response to this thread has been pathtetic. Frankly you deserve this and they won’t stop here. I hope they make Karin, Mika, and Laura uglier, reduce their breast size by 90% remove any sexiness to the characters and make them “normal” because “normal” is a dumpy looking 5’3" girl with a flat ass wrinkles and triangle tits who doesn’t wear makeup right. Oh and smells like farts.
If you “don’t care” then why post here? Go back in your not caring hole. For people that actually want to make change again add me to Facebook. It’s not too late. An organized group got it changed, a bigger organized group can get it changed back, but if you’re just going to sit around debate and pick your butt then we all lose.
This will not effect the enjoyment of the game for me. I’ve been out of the video game loop for gosh what, 5 years at least. I was looking forward to SFV for the tournament aspect, the brotherhood and comrodry, a new SF brings the community together like nothing else, and I’m far more concerned with gameplay and balance than I am censorship. If today’s gaming generation stands for crap like this, well you will get what you deserve.
Let’s see. Your cartoons suck, your games suck, I was blessed to have grown up through what was clearly the best era of gaming. We had Mai, we had Dudley, and nobody complained and it was great. We also weren’t insane virgins. So. Whatever. If this is what people want and stand for all the power to them, I’m out, I don’t care.
I think maybe 4 people in here get it, I get it, Natasha gets it, Alpha Omega Sin gets it, but the mob rules I get. Worship that insane bitch and don’t come complaining to me when you see where this ultimately leads.
