SFV Censorship

I don’t know. I guess that the argument isn’t that every bit of sexualization is a problem but rather how casually and commonly women get sexualized. I can only tell you why Urien gets a pass when others don’t.

Welcome to anime and video games.

Buldging pecs, muscles, crotches on the guys, big boobs on the girls. Naked asses for both sexes.

Don’t like it? Go watch the Biggest Loser. Or the Disney channel… when they are not showing the X-Men or Spiderman animated cartoons. I don’t know to tell you.

Did it ever occur to you that that both women

and men

don’t have a problem with it?

It happens in Comic Books, Anime, and Video Games (which are all closely related especially in Japan).

It’s a free Country, hopefully for you, so if you don’t like it then don’t read/watch/get into it.

I’ve always said this what would a femanazi do at a Cosplay convention? Run around and scream at all the women and men for being anti feminist? Lol. This is the STUPIDEST fucking “argument” on planet earth. We live in a free world, and we are sexual creatures. This is an expression of what we are inside, truly. You don’t like it prude then go fucking be a prude but don’t tell me I can’t cosplay as Vega or Urien or that a girl can’t cosplay as Felicia or Morrigan.

Or He-Man which was a childs cartoon/toy line BTFW.

**Anime, Comic Books, they really make the men hunks with big buldges and huge muscles, they make them half naked, same with chicks, so, if you’re not into that, stay away from this 13 Year Old+ rated Material. **TV:14 we know you adults in your 20’s and 30’s can’t handle it so cool, that’s fine.

Same with blood and guts.** If you want you can watch the most gruesome decapitations you’ll ever see (Mortal Kombat X Rated M for Mature), in that game you can see Women and Men cut in half, cut in half, crotch first, head first, whatever first, but boobies and butts in some games is a big deal? ** Are you fucking kidding me? GTFO with this crap.

**GTAV let’s you: kill hookers, bang hookers, mass murder groups of people, mass murder ethnic groups, it’s full of racist characters, every single depiction of a woman in GTAV is of a terrible stereotype. Every one. All this get’s a pass, **but OMFG R MIKA SLAPPED HER BUTT WHICH IS WHAT FEMALE WRESTLERS DO FOR 2 SECONDS and now this debate about how Anime/Comic Books got it all wrong. No. It exists for teens all my favorite shit as a teen was Anime related and as a child it was Comic Books.

@ParryAll Yo man would you just…tone it down a notch. Like present your point without making people feel like you’re attacking them for their opinion on things. Now I’m not gonna act like I’m holier than thou because I remember back when this was in full swing at the beginning of all this with the Gamergate thread me and many others were very gung ho and argumentive like you are. But after all this time. We should be past arguing who’s right who’s wrong. And just have a discussion and try to learn something from it. Could you try that buddy?

I don’t know who the fuck you’re arguing with but you sure put them in their place, I guess.

Haha I like turning up the heat. It’s fun.

But it’s fine I’ll chill and be super nice care bears and lolipops to everyone.

When SFV comes out and I start making the tournaments, I’m cosplaying as Vega/Claw at every one (I’d cosplay as Urien but I have long hair).

I’m putting this giant banana in my underwear and every match I win, or don’t win, I’m bending over and slapping my butt for the camera and saying “censor this Capcom”. (which they probably will by kicking me out lol).

Then I’m bringing a megaphone and saying “Will any of you limp handshake, virgin jellyfish male “feminists” please listen to this announcement” and then I’m farting into the megaphone as loud as I can.

Then once I’m kicked out I’m going to have a table and stand at the front of the venue and hand out free copies of Bible Black and La Blue Girl to everyone in attendance.

Much as I don’t care for the slap being removed or being there in the first place, I think you’re wasting your energy. Thread’s pretty big and you’ve put a ton of effort into what just feels like a huge waste of time.

Maybe I’m wrong but I think you’re arguing with the wrong people, dude.

Honestly I haven’t spent as much time on this as you may think.

I spent more time shopping on Christmas Eve (an insane 7 hours) than I have on this issue, including Facebook Twitter and elsewhere, combined and multiplied.

I’m a lightning fast typer. These “big posts” take 10 minutes for the biggest, honestly, and I don’t filter myself or worry about it, other than to edit and add more to them.

I’ll say this man. I agree with you soo much. The fact I have to spend any time at all on something this silly is a real shame.

I’m pretty much done in this thread. Certain posters just be aware I’ll be private messaging you in the coming days, other than that, I’ve pretty much spoken my peace on this. If the thread dies out of it’s own volition from here on out that’s fine, I won’t be responding unless provoked/called out specifically (or snarkily danced around/implied).

I agree with this 1,000,000%.

People these days act like every fighting game is Dead or Alive level ffs.

Well I’m not gonna speak on videogames in general because that is WAY too many characters for me to speak on that I don’t know all about. But within the fighting genre. The more modestly, and non sexualized female characters FAR out number the sexualized or fan servicy ones. For every R.Mika from Street Fighter there’s a Venessa, Makoto, and King ( KOF ). And the ratio could be even greater than that. Yet when it comes to the fighter genre people have actually said that it’s the worst when it comes to the representation of female characters. Which IMO honestly is only because the sexualized females get the most attention. And that is because sex by default is gonna grab people’s attention. So despite al these great examples of non sexualised female characters in the genre, like Vanessa, Makoto ( SF ) King, Talim, Abelia, Shina The Leopard, Rose, Chun-Li, BB Hood etc. They get ignored because the Mai Shuranui’s and Ivy’s of the genre grab their attention.

Ivy’s breasts aren’t as big as people think.

In SCIV’s create a character mode, breast size is tied in with the size of everything else. You can’t have this super skinny girl with these giant breasts, even though, because of plastic surgeory, such women do exist, but you can’t do that in SCIV. If you make the breasts bigger so does everything else, Ivy is a big woman in that game, but her breasts match her other proportions.

The reason they look big is because of the angle of photography. There is a cosplayer on my facebook who complained that her boobs weren’t big enough. I’m not going to say who she is, but she does lots of studio shots and they look pretty big, but it’s because of the outfit and because of angles, that is all. Now I can’t speak for SCV, but SCIV was proportionate and surprise surprise you can give the dudes enormous pectoral muscles as well so.

-edit- also keep in mind SCIV came out well before this whole ‘fiasco’ and the current climate it’s caused.

Personally I call the fiasco “Kotaku-gate” because the original thing that happened had nothing to do with feminism. A chick slept with a game reviewer for a good score, and a good score, I don’t see how that has anything to do with the breast sizes of anime characters but hey.

@ParryAll In regards to GTAV. People have definitely spoken out against the game and the series in general. Even made the news numerous times throughout the years. GTAV doesn’t get a pass. It’s just so damn successful that those who do have a beef with it have just don’t even try to raise a big stink anymore. Because ethey see it’ll succeed wether they complain or not. There’s nothing they can do to influence the games or its developers.

I see.

I have no problem with GTA. It’s sattire. It makes fun of things. The stereotypes, though exaggerated, are based on real life. I think GTA is a work of art in it’s own way. I would never call for censorship of the game. And guess what? I don’t play GTA. It’s not for me, never was. Oddly enough the GTA that I played and enjoyed the most was GTA1 on the PS1, the 2D overhead GTA game.

A game I played recently that I couldn’t stomach was Tomb Raider. I felt like I was involved in some mass murder simulator. I really did. The amount of people you kill in that game is really sickening to me. Like, in a movie the cops might take down a dozen bad guys in a big climactic shootout, Tomb Raider was just, huge shootout followed by some exploring followed by a shootout the body count in the game is just absurd and it really feels…wrong because of how realistically everything is portrayed.

It’s funny how running over people in GTA doesn’t bother me but Tomb Raider does, but it goes to show, context is everything. GTA is a blatantly fictional/satirical world, Tomb Raider isn’t, maybe that’s why, hmm…

The point though is. I didn’t like Tomb Raider, so I traded it in. Problem solved. And if I had a problem with GTA, then I wouldn’t buy GTA.

This is about freedom to me. It’s also about artistic expression. Hell I’m not a woman but as a guy, I actually do wear tight shirts, and not all girls like muscles but I like wearing things that accentuate my arms. I have had girls squeeze my arms in public, and many times during sex different girls always squeeze either my pecks or arms. So girls might not ever admit it but it turns them on, they just aren’t like us who explicitly talk openly about what we like, girls are less likely to admit it, but believe me when I say this. So to me muscles on dudes and tna on the chicks is the same thing

Perhaps it’s a seperate thing. But yeah, you’re right, I mean, people will bitch about anything these days online. All I can say is that, to me it’s a symptom of how young this art form, videogames, still is. Movies dealt with these issues, pretty much anything goes in an R rated film sexually or via violence, likewise PG13 has actually been toned down in films, and gaming has a similar ratings system. Honestly I thought this was over when Mortal Kombat 2 ditched censorship on the Super Nintendo, and regarding sex, well Dead or Alive and DOAX were hardly controversial 10-15 years ago, I think this whole climate, if you really observe what people are saying by and large, are mostly against it, and I think in a few years time this will all be history. It’s just a shame that SFV had to be effected, but, what can you do.

It’s not your game. It’s capcom’s. Capcom, be it for fear of SJW slandering, ESRB rating or even just because they felt like it, decided to change something. It happens.

You’d have a much stronger voice if when the game released, Japan got an uncensored version and the rest of the world got the censored version. As of now there isn’t actually any censorship because the game isn’t out. It isn’t finished.
The sooner you and others realize that, the sooner you’ll be at peace. Otherwise, just get the pc version and mod it.

Why on earth would Naughty Dog give Jak and Daxter to microsoft?

You do know ND are owned by sony, right? Honestly, they should’ve had Ready at Dawn do a new Jak and Daxter (since the psp daxter game was actually good) instead of the order 1886. ND has said they won’t make another Jak game, since they moved on to different projects of different scopes

Important news: according to Famitsu, the director of DOAx3 had an epiphany on the importance of ass, not just tits, and hopes that the game will enable him to share this revelation with those who had previously ignored it.

Also, a neglected part of animation is that repeated blows to the chest should result in erect nipples if proper contact is made. Who will step up to the plate first?

As an ass man. I approve of this.

In Soul Calibur, 1999, on the Dreamcast, Voldo’s ass jiggled. Not only did it jiggle during his win pose it was in your face, and had high resolution veins textured. It was gross, but at the time visually spectacular and simply amazing.

Likewise Asteroth’s pecs jiggled.

We’re talking nearly 17 years ago, but of course they weren’t females so it’s totally ok, but 17 years later can’t have a womans bottom jiggle oh no.

I can’t believe this shit is still going.

Look, the fact is nobody got ‘triggered’ over naked Seth or thong Urien. Therefore nobody has a right to be ‘triggered’ over any R.Mika or Cammy stuff, and anybody that does is a double standard-ing hypocrite whose opinion we’ve already paid too much attention to by having this discussion in the first place, so we really should just be like “yeah, they’re stupid, fuck them” and not give them the attention they’re craving by leaving it.

@BB_Hoody

I definitely see the point you’re making regarding Felicia & Urien and it’s a good one. Good stuff. The truth is that often the whole “male power fantasy” argument is utter bullshit meant to dismiss something that blows up the entire notion of “over-sexualization”. The argument goes that He-Man is not sexualized because he represents a male power fantasy and not a female sexual fantasy…yet men on covers of romance novels look exactly the goddamn same. It is just an endless round of moving the goal-posts. Both sexes are highly sexualize din everything because sex-sells PERIOD. In fact, studies show women oogle and ogle just as much (or more) than men do.

The other problem with the argument is that it reduces all sexuality to how certain people want to define it. My wife far prefers Urien to “Hot Ryu” because she likes his darker skin (and that he shows more of it). She likes Gill even more because he’s got the long blonde hair going for him. Vega, a bloodthirsty sociopath, pushes her buttons even more. Are they ALL therefore (over)sexualized? Is Vega’s sensual movements and attitude and bared chest (now complete with romance-cover shirt) sexualizing him? Or is it just a part of his character and how he’s portrayed? I mean, some people would find Vega absolutely repulsive with his sick licking of steel blades and constant talk of bloodshed. Some people find him overly effeminate because of his focus on beauty. Does their opinion invalidate the sexual nature of his portrayal?

Like I said, there’s no REAL answer because it’s all shifting of goalposts around to appease whoever is being most vocal to complain.

Zeph, I don’t give a fuck who takes the jak and daxter license that needs a new game imo. Namco could probably pull a 180 and skyrocket it
Ready at dawn, don’t know that company gonna google fu them but I’ve heard of bitch ass konami.
