It matters to me and a lot of people. Videos on Facebook have 800 likes on comments of people who are pissed off. I assure you, this has nothing to do with the ESRB.
If you pay close attention to the PR release, the wording. I have a degree in Journalism, I am a professional writer, this is business writing 101. If the ESRB forced the change they would have to explicitly state that. They do not. The way it’s worded is to scapegoat the ESRB without stating clearly that it was their call. That is nothing but clever writing, to take the attention away/off Capcom but not quite lie, because that would be a big deal. Likewise if the ESRB was the reason they wouldn’t have danced around it with misleading writing, they would have said 100% because that takes all the heat off them.
It was changed for no other reason than people from neoGAF who complained. And if we all make our voices heard to Capcom they will change it back. It was changed due to complaints it will be changed back due to complaints, or a toggle will be added.
I agree that it’s stupid they changed it but come on, there’s nothing we can do really.
It’s not going to end here, Laura’s opening pose will be changed next, Urien will be denied his classic costume, unless we actually organize and put an end to this.

This might not be popular but I think you are overreacting. I can understand why though; outrage culture has really been promoted this year (thanks to click-bait media) and everybody is tired of it.
The changes in SFV are not censorship though. I know that will probably frustrate you, but unless the government is stepping in and forcing the change it’s just not censorship. Capcom are (like all developers\publishers) working with the ESRB and editing their game right up until launch to meet their target T rating. The artist is making the changes, not some shadow SJW organization.
The benefit of the changes is open for debate. I don’t mind them honestly, they are very small and just bring a bit more consistency across the whole roster: there’s no crotch camera for Ryu, or nipple frame for Zangief for example. To me the camera (for Cammy and Poison in particular) always leaned on the side of sleaze rather than fun, so I don’t mind SFV dialing this back a notch. We all have different perceptions of this though, so I can understand some of you being irked.

There was no public outcry, no backlash from the fanbase, no drama of any sort.
Things like this happen quite often during game development and it hasn’t been ‘an issue’ up until recent years where consumers have become more and more involved.
According to the ESRB a slapping a naked butt is considered an active sexually suggestive act and bumps the rating instantly to Mature regardless of context.
So they moved the camera a bit higher so you can no longer see the slap which makes it an implied act rather than an observable act.
That’s just how rating systems work and it’s entirely up to Capcom what rating they wish to aim for.
Most people don’t care for the rating system but you would be amazed how many families follow that system religiously.
This entire butt slap shitstorm has absolutely nothing to do with SJWs and I find it very sad that certain internet celebrities like AlphaOmegaSin (for example) go on the net and point the finger at SJWs without doing any research what so ever.

The situation personally pisses the fuck out of me. Somebody tried to capture the essence of a character and they deny him/her that freedom, because a bunch of stuck up managers decided this is morally wrong for a teen rating, while Beyoncé shakes her ass on Tv for everyone to see and kiddies can look for porn in 2 clicks.
