SFIV in Tacoma now!

Wow. Did they really space out the stick/buttons like that on each side? Gross.

Yeah man it was gross. You get used to it, but we should not have to for $1 a game.

Asked him to get ILeurosticks and competion buttons.Heres what he said.

1$ a game!? GROSS

Actually for me it’s a relief to have them that far apart because I almost always get arm cramps trying to play on the 2-player setups. I guess they could be a few inches closer though. But I will not approve any straightening of the buttons. Get used to them, it’s easier than you think.

And yeah the monitors were weird, squashed and pixellated. Even from low-quality videos I know the game can look a lot better than that. But like I said when I asked the guy if he could try to fix it he just said there were no settings. No settings? Really?

ugh crap busy weekend. I’ll be out there sunday.

i hope all the people that showed up last night will actually continue to show up. i really hope the multiple win streaks dont ward them off.

Okay, now’s the time for Deezo’s SFIV impressions!

-I thought the game was dope as hell. The jump arcs definitely take some getting used to. There would be plenty of times I would flash kick someone with Guile, walk up to crossup, and it would take like forever for them to get up. Lots of times, it resulted in me whiffing the crossup.

-You can get thrown the second you get up. There’s no throw invulnerability upon wakeup, which is insane when you’re against Zangief. After fighting Nate and Pablo, I understand why a lot of people hate Zangief in SFIV. I got spd’d out of ex low tiger shot, and ex tiger knee. Ridiculous right?

-I dunno if it was the stick or what but I had issues dashing out of focus attacks by themselves. I was only able to do it after I got hit by something.

-Chun will take some getting used to for sure. Her low mk doesn’t even seem that great in this game. Like it comes out fast but the hitbox doesn’t seem that great. It also seems hard to cancel shit off it. Her b+mk, mk, d u+mk is the shit though. Good punishment when you aren’t charged. I found that her jumping fiercex2 causes a juggle state, so you can land and do ex sbk or jump up and stompx3. Seems like you would only use your super bar for ex sbk as it’s great anti air. EX kikoken seems good, standard ex fb, travels fast, hits twice, etc. She has some dope pokes. Only got to try her out a couple times (due to two long ass streaks). Will play her hella next time.

-Crimson Viper is hard to use. One thing I was personally having issues with, was remembering the notations for her moves. I don’t quite understand why seismo is a dp motion. She doesn’t even have a single fireball motion move except for her ultra and super. The timing for sj off seismo is like weird. Kenny was slowly figuring her out.

-Sagat is BEASTLY. I had a 16 game win streak with him, and it’s ridiculous how safe tiger knee is. It seems to me that you can lockdown a lot of characters by chaining into short tiger knee. After a blocked tiger knee, I would mixup between tiger uppercut/throw/lvl 3 focus attack. EX low tiger is the shit within sweep range. Tiger uppercut is as good as always. Couldn’t get the focus attack cancel off the uppercut though. I did do anti air f+rh (which is beastly btw, knocks down on hit), ex tiger knee. Missing reversal tiger uppercuts is scary in this game. There was a time Nate did lvl3 focus attack with Gief, and I saw it coming, so I attempted to fierce tiger uppercut, and got low fierce instead. So I ended up eating an ultra shortly after lol. His overhead (f+fierce) is pretty good as well. I’d personally be surprised if he wasn’t the best character in SFIV.

-Vega (Claw) is kinda weird. His anti airs are bunk. I fought a Ryu and he jumped on me for free and for fun. I tried low fierce, standing roundhouse, AND flip kick and I ate callouses all day. He seems to have promise though I think. EX sky high (flash kick motion with punch) goes through fireballs. I tried to do ultra, and got that and flew through an ex fireball and hit a Ryu player.

-I had an 18 game win streak with Guile. I originally intended on picking Chun but Kenny was like “PICK GUILE!” so I did =/. He still seems very defensive, which is alright I guess. He’s got an overhead (f+strong) which is good. I hit somebody in the corner with jumping fierce, low jab, low strong, ex sonic boom, standing roundhouse. Pretty buff. His ultra is great as anti air. Flash kick sucks as anti air though. EX sonic boom is dope.

I should be there Saturday night to play. Tryna get my Chun Li on.

Good games to all I played last night. I’ll admit my 16 win streak with Blanka was ugly and random at times, but I’m still learning like everyone else. Down towards plus FP is really good for Blanka now. It seems like half the time I was hitting the shadow of the opponent’s outstretched arms when going under fireballs. Too good!
Problems I saw with the setup:
The monitor’s backlight is ridiculously bright. It makes the screen look washed out.
Like Pablo said, the screen looks stretched instead of widescreen.
Left cabinet joystick seemed to work better than the right side. All the huge win streaks were on the left side. On the right side I played Ken once and couldn’t throw a fireball facing right about six times in a row.
Also like Pablo noted, joystick needs to be closer to the buttons.

They can join the club. It’s got quite a few members.

Next time when I knock someone down I am just going to SPD on wakeup.

Mandel, you should try EX Wall Dive with Claw as an anti-air on jump-ins. It hits on the way up, and either beats out most attacks or trades. It also knocks the opponent up into the air and helpless, for a free izuna drop.

My Guile win streak took place on the right side actually. But it’s Guile, not like there’s any real execution needed. I was having problems getting ultra to come out.

I wish I knew about that last night. I was only using EX for roll. But I will definitely use that shit for sure. Thank you sir!

What time do you guys usually show up? I’m heading up there with 3 other people tomorrow/later today. Can’t wait to get my sf4-game on. Also, hows the condition of the marvel cab there?

Mandel, Nate and I are going to be up there sometime after 7.

Also, in case no one knew, there are delayed wake-ups and fast wake ups. Mash punch to get up fast. Not sure if just pressing it works.

In my experience tapping down, down (ala 3S) worked when I wanted to tech when I hit the ground.

fuck!

I really hate the sticks on that machine.

Good games to Ray, Nate and Mandel tonight.

I was wrong. 2 out of 3 is just fine for a dollar. I can’t wait till I can play this everyday.

Ray, your guile is really impressive.

HYOU!!

So do I. Here’s hoping they get fixed soon.

LOL yes, HYOOOOU!

Good games to night Nate, Ray, Brent, other people I might’ve missed. I learned a bunch tonight as well. Had a lot of fun in the process as well.

Fuck aht nigga claw. They need to delete HONDA from the game. Someone tell those techs to set up some real mothafucking set ups on those sticks. I am tired of thes gema.s
