The PC community is pretty unskilled, with the exception of a few people. The few gems that I find on there probably struggle to find matches where they have to try.
In general I feel like I’ve seen decent players online… it feels like once you get into the B grade and above (not that BP actually means anything, but in terms of the game’s matchmaking it kind of does), players get… okay.
Friend: Man Bison just isn’t cutting it [this despite our matches being close and him winning a few]
me: Uh-huh.
Friend: I think I’ll just use Balrog [Boxer], he seems like an easier time against Chun to me.

This argument never makes sense to me when you consider that MvC2 and 3S stayed alive for much longer. In some cases they’re still very much alive even today.
I think most people play SF4 because its the biggest sf game right now, not because they think its actually that great of a game. The amount of people who play the game is its biggest draw, not game mechanics. Also, yes, this game is ugly as hell, I never once thought it looked good. Its not even a matter of preferring sprites, the art direction just looks straight up bad.
Games like mvc2, ST, 3s etc will live on much longer than SF4 imo.
Yeah, it has to do with the current huge player base I’m sure. With little or no arcades/DC’s not a lot of movement on the MvC2 front sadly. There’s the 2009 current gen ports, but they’re not perfect and it doesn’t draw as many players as the old days. (Similar situation with 3s/3so… lol3s)
Same thing with (U)MvC3, even though I feel MvC2 is the superior game.
I would rather play ST (even HDR) or Street Fighter EX, myself, but the playerbase has dried up here, and the oldtimers are increasingly harder to find.
