crouch/crouching jab
On wakeup make sure it’s a crouching jab or other crouching normal because they’re using that trick where you’re considered standing on the 1st frame of wakeup unless you do a crouching normal (which immediately puts you in a crouching state, so she can’t grab you). It’s the same deal with Hakan’s Oil Dive shenanigans… I hate those.
Don’t feel too bad, my win ratio is only a smidgen over 50%, I think it was 53% last I checked and that is overall not knowing shit about Chun and mimicking OneHandedTerror to where I am now.
If you want, give this a shot; I picked it up from Justin Wong and a KOF fighter whose name eludes me at the moment. Honestly though it helped me improve a lot
It is almost like an exercise routine, which I really related to.
Set a realistic win ratio goal for yourself.
Take it one day and one week at a time.
Play 20 matches a day for 5 days and add up your total wins versus matches played and figure up your win %.
Review video of yourself playing and analyze how you lost, not necessarily what you did wrong just what you could have different.
Each day warm up with the lab for about 10-20 minutes, go through your most used Bnbs. Go down P1 side and P2 side with the same combo with the goal to land it each time. Next down an back switch to your next combo.
Then play your matches.
Write down your win or lose and make a quick note of your performance. (you can use this later upon review of the video and see if you still agree, I found I oftentimes didn’t, haha)
Once you are done head back to the lab and ‘cool down’ with the combos you dropped frequently or say you got dominated by a particular move - fight against that move.
Repeat the next day
You’ll be surprised how much better you perform and how much your confidence will grow.
the biggest key and HARDEST part is keeping your cool through it all, so it also teaches you a bit of humility.
I’m certain if you give a shot - in just a months time you’re win ratio will increase.
I personally ended up around 65% then I went away to SF X Tk, which I oddly enough had the same win ratio XD
My win ratio is around 70%. Not bad for playing in Japan methinks. I tend to lose more clutch matches than I’d like to though. I don’t have a good fall-back tactic to go to and I tend to fall for my opponent’s.
Thanks everyone for the feedback again You are all so helpful.
I played a bit more today and I managed to get up to 40% win ratio. But I’m only at 2000bp and 1000pp so even though points don’t necessarily reflect skill… I’m only playing against scrubby people now. It’s just a little frustrating because about… 25% of the time I lose, it’s by like… less than 5% of their health. In my mind I’m always like, “If that patch was in effect now you’d totally be dead -_-”
I just need to improve my defense. I get caught off guard with a lot of stupid shit where I’m like, “Really?! That works?!” or someone just does something completely unsafe and I’m like “Really? Really…? YOLOOOoooo.” And most importantly I need to work on my anti-airs and judging the distance of my U1 properly.
When you fight a scrubby player - less is more. Hell just stand back and they’ll come to you in reckless manners, random full screen tatsu - use St. Hp, but block afterwards because a DP is probably going to follow - then push it. Make sure you’re anti airs are on point. etc.,
play safe, If you try and rush you’ll eat reversals, wake up ultras etc.,
basically you need to play as lame as possible.
sad but true.
The better player always dictates the pacing of a match, if your opponent is going to willingly throw himself at you recklessly then just punish him over and over again until he has killed himself.
You’ll be able to break 4k pp without much problem by just playing a dry game, punishing whiffs/blocked specials etc. and anti-air’ing them.
As long as you’re controlling the match they are the ones that have to take the risks to get damage in on you.
Currently testing a few characters to tryout and learn for USF4 (Dudley, Ken, Yang and Sakura) while working on my Juri, I need to get her up to my Chun.
My goal is to add a third wheel to my team though - gotta stick with it.
I’m curious how Poison will play. Elena looks too slow - Hugo and Rolento players will be everywhere just like XTk… yawn
Yeah, against the characters I have more matchup knowledge with I do much better against scrubby players. The problem is when I don’t know what/how to punish.
When I finally get good at the game I think Viper is going to be my second character. I might dabble with Poison and Elena too.
Took some time out today to work on setups and Cr.Hp xx LLegs tactics
I need some input on nailing down Cr. Hk
I’ve got St. Lp - HP and I can loop better everyday but getting that hard knock down for setups is key for me.
I basically get it by accident and I’m not sure what I’m doing different when it does come out.
once I get this automatic I’ll work Cl.Hk xx LLegs (FADC) Cr.hp xx LLegs, St. Lp - Hp
A good day of practice for sure and I definitely learned today Dudley isn’t for me; I so wanted to keep it classy but he’s not going to be my third character.
This won’t work because cr. hp has too much startup to combo after the FADC.
I mean Cl.HK - just so used to saying Cr. Hp
You can see your win ratio??? I didn’t know that was in the game. Oh god now I’m actually going to start caring about my stats again lol
Yeah there’s character win records somewhere in Options.
Okay so I’ve given up on Cr. Hp xx LLegs - sweep for now; I can’t figure out the timing for it; I’m either too early or to late
So I’ve gone into the lab and tried testing post Ultra setups
Many characters have safe jumps and such off their Ultras or if your Ken complete unblockables
Anyone else try this?
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think there’s just way too much recovery after both ultras to do anything useful with setups.
You can Option Select with U2 against some characters.
You don’t get anything other than instant overhead setups from u1, I should look into meaty c.lp setups from it now that I think about it, hmm…
From U2 you can just hold up forward against some characters and hit j.hp for a fake crossup (cammy for example).
after u2 on the corner we have plenty of time and i dare to say that´s is TOO much time so is kind of bad because any set up is very telegraphed imo. You can do something like triple dash, whiff something jump and you dont even hit the other guy lol. I was testing stuff but man kikosho does take a lot of time just to test one set up after two tries i just quit rage training mode.
after u1 there´s little time to set up anything good btw and is very specific meaning you dont have the same time if u1 fully connects or juggle or semi juggle lol.
BUT after super i do have some weird things, like fake cross up and what not… too bad you require some spacing first
So I changed EX Kikoken to knockdown in the PC version to play around with it:
-Comboing into Kikosho in the corner is not possible from point blank due to her recovery, but it is possible to do it right outside of cr. mk range and you can fish for it there similar to how Ryu can with his EX Hadouken (something like cr. lk, cr. lp, cr. mk xx EX Kikoken, U2 is also possible, but doing EX legs instead is better).
-FADCing forward after connecting EX Kikoken at anytime anywhere on the screen will allow you to combo into ultra 2.
-You cannot do EX kikoken directly into instant stomps, but you can do EX Kikoken, FADC and then do stomps.
-EX Legs is very easy to juggle after EX Kikoken in the corner and as long as you don’t do too many hits beforehand, tacking it on afterward and then doing EX SBK or ultra will give you a decent amount more overall damage in your combo. If you hit them in the corner with EX Kikoken from slightly far away, you can do dash up EX Legs.
It is not possible to tack on EX legs midscreen unless you FADC.
-The knockdown allows the opponent to quickrise and she recovers too slow to do any easy safe jumps from it.
…Other than that there wasn’t anything notable I could think of other than being able to gain ground from it in a fireball war or get breathing room if it connects etc.
