sakura maybe? she does have a weird focus
Against shotos (especially Ryu) I notice that j.HP~HP second hit tends to miss or just not come out if they focus on reaction to your jump. Something about the way Ryu leans back never gives my second HP enough time to come out.
Yeah the lean making the TC whiff is pretty annoying. As if a potential 200 damage counterhit DP vs a floaty jumpin wasn’t already distressing enough lol.
-What’s with all the doomsaying regarding the update? None of the changes are final and they mentioned several times it’ll go through extensive testing (amongst which quite a few will be location tests, so you’ll get to see it firsthand most likely) before the official release, so don’t panic.
So far, nobody mentioned anything of Chun’s getting nerfed via rumor or otherwise while some of the characters she struggles with are at least rumored to getting some pretty significant changes that’ll make them easier to deal with. Even then, I still wouldn’t completely consider all these changes in the context of the way the game is played now, because apparently something is going to change about that as well… hopefully for the better.
Regardless, I’ll wait until footage comes out from whatever public testing sessions they have before I judge how I think the metagame is going to change, but from the announcements so far, things are getting better for Chun (and I can handle the way she already is for the most part so the buffs are mainly pluses to me).
Dat Udon back cover art :lovin:

Well, anything to help me forget that Ono cosplay at SDCC really…
I love how the sunblock brand is Saikyo. Too good.
Er… this is my first post on SRK so let me first introduce myself. I used to play Tekken growing up, just a little kid mashing buttons hoping for a win. As a kid I just didn’t get Street Fighter so I never played it. I didn’t really play fighting games at all, being more of a Final Fantasy player. I forgot what day it was, but I randomly came upon a video of EVO moment 37, I think that’s when it all kinda started for me. I started with the IOS edition of SF4 in 2010, then moved on to the 3DS edition in 2011. After the PSN security breach of 2011, I managed to afford a PS3 and got AE on it. During all that time I only opted to play arcade mode and watching replays. I was too afraid, nervous to play online because I dislike interacting with people and too embarrassed at how bad I was.
I bought a fightstick after my birthday and decided I should at least try playing with someone. So I started playing online either around April or May of 2012. I was right, I got bodied like crazy, taunted to death my first round which I still remember vividly. If you thought you were bad, your not, I used to always stay under 500PP. Horribad really. Not anymore, but I’m still a scrub Chun. When I started out I used to hit training mode a lot just to get basic stuff down, but after I got a little better, I just stopped practicing. I never hit training mode, so I’ll probably always be a scrub, but I’m fine with that. As such, I’m fairly certain every member here has a better Chun Li than I do. I’m bowing down in advance to the greatness that is the Fellowship of the Thigh. So please don’t hurt me!
I decided to join the SRK forums today because for awhile now, I’ve just been forum lurking. It’s gotten so bad that I’m checking once every hour. I’ll go to eventhubs, then to SRK, then to Capcom Unity in that exact order. Might as well join. >< I don’t think any input I have will be particularly useful, but I’ll say things anyway just to say something. You can fight me on the PSN my username is the same there, but I never add anyone because I’m horribly antisocial. Good luck with that. And just in case anyone recognizes it, I did post on the balance suggestion for Chun on Capcom Unity. My one and only post there, I wrote it when I was super sleepy so ignore how awful it was. I am currently a jobless hobo, so I just play games and read comics all day. And for some reason this always comes up eventually, but I am not a girl. Just a very very gay man. Again, please don’t hurt me! ^^
tl;dr I’m new here so hi.
I am so sorry to hear that. Don’t worry, there’s still hope for you yet.
Hey Zen, welcome and apart from your choices of website visiting for fighting games lol, good to see new faces here. Hopefully no one will be an ass to you but that can’t be guaranteed
Anyway enjoy your stay and I hope you find this place useful, helpful and entertaining.
I Bought it along with Juri at SDCC,
the Akuma origins story that comes with Sakura is pretty awesome, almost makes me wanna play him — nahhh not really.
I don’t know if this has been brought up yet, but I jus thought of something.
If Chun’s EX Kikoken can juggle in USF4, wouldn’t that be a better (read, more damaging) way to combo into her U2 than EX Legs? Since it’s less hits?
Doesn’t look like EX Kikoken knocks the opponent up high at all, so the U2 juggle would be impossible without EX Legs. The opponent would hit the ground before U2 came out.
Multi hit specials only count as one move, c.hp x extended legs counts as 3 because you’re doing c.hp x hk legs~mk legs.
The main use for ex kikouken will probably be getting knockdown of fireball trades and more reliable combo on certain characters than ex legs. It’ll probably do more damage on max range hits than 2hit ex legs does.
EX Legs is a single move, but still counts as 3-4 hits in a juggle making a Kikosho followup juggle for less hits and do less damage. It’s not really that significant but it is less than if you were to hypothetically combo a grounded move, that did the same damage as EX legs, into Kikosho. I noticed this when I was doing a comparison between Ryu’s EX Tatsu -> Ultra and Chun’s EX SBK -> Ultra 2 (Ryu’s EX tatsu hit the opponent grounded and doesn’t send them into the air until the last hit while Chun’s EX SBK juggles the whole time).
Anyway, having said that, even if EX Kikoken combos into Kikosho with no problem, it would still probably do less damage overall just because EX kikoken is only 100 damage in the first place compared to the 120-160 damage EX legs.
I’ll have to test that myself today when I get home from work!
EX Kikoken can’t combo into U2. It doesn’t pop the opponent up high enough. Even in the reveal video Chun had to do EX Kikoken -> EX Legs -> U2 in the corner.
I do hope they’ll let us have EX Kikoken -> Stomps in the corner. It sucks that Seth can do it and he’s just a move stealer.
So today, I had to teach my ESL student synonyms and antonyms. One of the pairs was “child and adult”; Thank goodness for this picture.
So how bout that Akuma cat

Adorable, haha. Makes the raging demon look goofy as hell, Ryu was pretty cool.
I’m a proud owner of a Chun-Kitty, so your avatar makes me laugh, I got a picture with the Chun-Kitty last year.
I’m really hopping a Juri-Kitty comes through some day, unlikely because she’s not a classically known character.
Everyone knows Chun Li and Ryu even if they don’t play SF.
Oh and Juri’s origin story was short but sweet by Omar Dogan.
Basically Juri’s father was working with some unnamed “Hong Kong detective” tracking down shadowloo; Cough Cough wonder who that was?
Anyway that unnamed Detective went missing, then Juri’s dad got shot to hell in a drive by shooting. Which is when Juri lost her eye.
Now Juri has extreme hate for Shadowloo, though her rage is fueled differently than Chun-Li’s. Chun wants justice, Juri wants revenge.
That conflict of method, yet having a common goal could make for a cool Anime/Comic.
Lethal Weapon 6 feat. Chun and Juri?
Yeah Juri is like a dark counterpart to Chun, pretty much. It’s almost like a Joker-Batman thing. One went the route of justice, the other the route of cray-cray and may end up even worse than Shadaloo.
Forgot to mention, also in Udon comics “Super Street Figher IV” series:
Ryu gets beat down by Bison and kidnapped (kinda like Ken in the Anime) - Sakura blames herself because she couldn’t help Ryu-San!
So she goes all Shin-Sakura and summons Akuma to train her in order to save Ryu.
Pretty interesting turn of events.
back on Juri It actually makes sense to me now; she killed Seth Huzzah!
then she teams up with Bison in SF X Tk in order to get close to him and kill him too, MWAHAHAHA!
Okay back to Chun-Li discussion:
Interesting post on eventhubs from Hinds, saying they are changing thing that are unexpected by fans.
With Rufus’ U2 fall-out fix; it would really be face-palmer to not fix Chun’s U1 fall-out.
I browsed the USF4 thread and a lot of people are saying ‘Chun looks strong’; based on what?! haha, We’ll still have to play smart and avoid brain dead tactics.
Unless they give her a DP then I can agree. Because I played Ken on PS3 yesterday without having much knowledge with him just trying to mimic infiltration and Banana Ken only to win with ease. It was kinda nice. Even messed around with Sakura a bit and its all Skatan’s fault! Haha
