People have a funny way of defining ‘facts’, if it’s so absolute, it should be trivial to prove in real life. I mean if something is supposed to improve gameplay, i’m sure there would be someone’s gameplay to point to… shouldn’t there?
You mean holding downback 99% of the time and sit there and take block dmg? Ok if that’s the truth, then I’ll use it to win the next major tournament. Thanks.
Guiles projectile-no delay Ryu's projective- at least half second dealay
Winner-Guile+ the ability to create combos with his projectile gives his projectile a bonus
Guiles anti air- comes out with a single whiff after charge
Ryu’s anti air- comes out with a rotation
Winner- Guile, because his is faster reacting and has more range
Guiles expansion-NONE
Ryu’s expansion- tatsumaki
Winner-Ryu, although Guiles crouching fp, flash kick, and any air attack own this move. However the tatsumaki can go past a Sonic Boom to derail Guile.
Corner trapping- I hate to say this, but I have to go with Ryu because his punches and kicks come out quicker, while Guile has a long reach, a person can throw Guile once he gets cornered. While Ryu can play mind games and tear someone up there. This is where his Shoryuken and Hadouken come in handy, granted theres no charge+blocking damage.
In the general match, Guile has Ryu. You can keep Guile charged and wait for Ryu to pull out moved and just continuously crush him, jump over his projectile and combo in, crouching fierce or flash kick when he does his expansion or air throw. You can always air throw or flash kick a dragon punch. Since Guile can always stay charged, he can pull move out at anytime he sees even an opening, even for a milisecond, this is one place where Ryu can not touch Guile.
Here is the arguement if both players are good.
General match- Advantage goes to Guile [fast reaction to any move]
Fast quick paced match- Advantage goes to Ryu, mind games, along with quick punches and kicks, Guile can not handle that because he has to charge, once he is rushed down hard, it makes it more difficult for Guile to play like he is meant to be played. Plus Ryus axe handle kick always works well close up, and his standing round house if a person tries to jump out of the corner, or use dragon punch, mainly the light one, so you can recover faster if you miss.
There are some things I greatly disagree with in this post. While you actually offer an argument based on game play I find your arguments either biased or inexperienced.
I’m not going to go into why Ryu’s projectile has the advantage over Guile’s that much should be obvious. Last point I’ll make on this if Ryu let’s Guile in close enough to combo then he derserves what he gets.
Saying Ryu’s only anti air is the Shoryuken is like saying Guile’s only anti air is the flash kick. Ryu has a c. fp much like guile Guile. Believing that some how a Shoryuken is in any way less than a c.fp is beyond me. I shoto player with even mediocre execusion abilty will nail this move 99% of the time without flaw. The frame of invincibility totally makes the issue of a trade on a close jump in a moot point.
The Tatsumaki is a technique that just adds to Ryu’s options in a match. You defintely shouldn’t rely on on it if your dominating the match but it can totally change momentum. A high level player who should be the only type who attempt this as when it is well placed it will never be owned. You usually don’t that many from scrubs unless they are total scrubs and love to give damage for free. Definetly should make a smart Guile worry never good for Guile.
As for corner traps, Guile’s got some good ones s does Ryu. Again, all I have to say is that if either side gets pushed to the corner they deserve what they get.
I don’t know how you say Guile has the match is he has to react all the time. In these games you know that the player who has the ability to act not the player who has to react has the advantage not the player who has to react. You shouldn’t be based on waiting for a millisecond for ryu to mess up, that is a poor strat, unfortunately this is most of what Guile has and why scrubby Ryus get their asses handed to them. Ryu can pull out any move any time he wants so he could wait that same millisenond and he doesn’t have to charge anythying. Ryu can counter everything Guile sends his way so he he too has the ability to react. Not a free match up for Ryu but you should clearly see his advantage.
You obviously have not played good people.
So, you can't provide a good arugment to back up your claim why Ryu's projectile is better.
Guiles crouching fp is superior, because he can pull it out at anytime, even if someone jumps over a sonic boom, he can recover in time to throw one. Furthermore, it has a better reach.
I was talking about anti-air specials, not normal anti-airs, but I owned you again anyway.
The tatsumaki is good for derailing expansions, Zangiefs expansions for example. Tatsumaki is useless against Guile at this level because Guile does not play like that. Maybe it could work for mind games like jumping through the air with Tatsumaki, but the majority of the advantage goes to Guile for reasons I explained in my previous post.
Yes, but Guile does not play like that. Hes not the type to rush in. His game is based on turtling, patience, and waiting for the right time to pound his opponent. You are totally missing the point. I have owned your entire post.
have you brought your self esteem up? can u let this stupid thread die now?
edit: you’re a posting scrub… stay out of the strategy threads, and stick with general discussions
I wanna hear bout guile/ryu vs sent/capcom
He is probably the same person as ghgh. He wants to look uber cool by supporting himself or his friend cause no one else will.
I didnt think it would have to come to this, but aight damnit. Whos hair is sweeter? I rest my case. Guile strongest man with sweetest hair. Ryu is strong, but the infinite gravity caused by Guiles hair constantly destroying and creating matter, starts to make Ryu tweak a lil bit. This is when Guile cuts Ryus throat. Also, when Guile was a young buc, fresh soldier, they injected his muscles with liquid kittens, making him immeasureably powerful. God help us all.

I was gonna let most of your dumb shit go but damn are you an idiot.
You posted that Ryu has an air throw. That Guile can ait throw a shoryuken. That Guile’s c. fp is a “special” move. And then you ask me to explain why Ryu’s hadouken is superior to the sonic boom. Play these games before you post about them.
I was right.
I never posted “tactics”.
I posted mechanics.
So you aren’t right.
Is this discussion still going on?
Yo, in older games it’s pure strategy and execution. There’s little guessing unlike newer games(I’m speaking of high level play and not the mall crap 99% of ppl saw when the game was at its’ peak).
That being said, it seems tedious for me to explain things in detail. Ryu wins. It’s sooooooo clear.
Hell, Watson posted on the issue. Have yall seen this man’s Guile? Have yall seen his Ryu? If anyone is an authority on the subject here, it’s him. Save yourselves some time and believe him.
IZ jacked:You’re wrong. Not only are you wrong but you don’t understand how the match is played. You don’t understand the tools used. I’m not trying to be a dick. Although, I suppose I am for not taking the time to explain thoroughly. I’m not saying those against you know what their talking about either but you certainly don’t. Your understanding is very abstract. I’m just informing you. It doesn’t matter much to me if you accept it or not.
Apoc.
Dammit this bickering is stupid and pointless.
The question of who actually wins is uninteresting compared to the actual matchup itself.
Even if you think Ryu wins its still much more worthwhile to try to figure out what Guile should be doing to give himself the best shot, or vice versa.
That’s when you know you’ve got it right. Fuck the majority. The majority also thought witches existed and burned them at the stake.
