Much kudos to Alvin Lee and his colourist on the awesome cover. Looking forward to the interiors being just as sharp.
Perhaps with RS you may try to test the waters with a 3-4 issue mini-series. That should be enough room to develop and tell a short story and enough issues to gauge reader interest without committing too much into it.
I know everyone is waiting for RS. And let me just tell you we DO have some pretty solid plans to do somnething in the beginning of 2006, once SF and Exalted are securly launched and get a place in the market. We are going to try something different for RS…
One thing has bothered me since I saw the SF stuff that didn’t make it into the comics (Cammy vs Dee Jay, to be specific), and it’s continued on the new cover art: Dee Jay is a kickboxer, not a capoeirista. He’s supposed to be delivering crushing uppercuts, backfists, roundhouses, and back kicks, not handstands, negativa, and mariposas and crap. I thought your source material was the games…I never played whatever version you guys got this new Dee-Jay from. What’s going on? Just because he’s black, fights to music, and from Jamaica, he’s somehow automatically a Capoeirista? Capoeira came from Brazil, not Jamaica, guys.
Question: Will you be using the same “Street Fighter” logo that you have been previously (which seems to be the current official logo of Street Fighter) or will you use the classic SFII Logo?
Or you could do like the anime movie did: Use the Super Street Fighter II logo but replace “Super” with “Comic”.
Thank you. I noticed Dee Jay was using Capoeira in the mini-comic where he fought Cammy and was a lil’ confused. The explanation I gave myself was that maybe they were saying he was skilled in other martial arts besides kickboxing. Now I see him on the new cover posing as if he’s doing Capoeira. Seriously, cut that shit out.
Kickass art, but once again, the Alpha fanboy in me is a bit sad of the “SFII” turn the comic is taking. To me, Street Fighter is a bunch of games working together in a coherent universe with fifty something characters that I really love. Street Fighter II by itself is just an old game with mostly flat characters that I really don’t care for anymore.
But since you say the Alpha characters aren’t going anywhere, I will trust you.
And it’s a pity the backup stories aren’t collected in a TBP for the sake of the individual issues keeping some value. I like to collect books that I can put on my bookshelf, not tiny monthly issues than end up in a box so they can gain value with time, as long as they stay in mint condition and whatnot, and I really feel bitter from missing the backup stories because of this.
