SFII #0 cover! You guys see it here first!

Wonderful cover artwork there. Really brings back the days of Super Turbo to nostalgiac freaks like me.

That’s gorgeous! I can’t wait!

But what about Darkstalkers? Is that on hold until October as well…?

cover of sf2 art work is really good

art work of the sf2 cover is really good, keep up the good work u guys.hope the storyline keep getting better and better.

Since the comic has restarted do I have to get the comic store i shop at to rehold them now?

Oversized Hardcover? Like the limited Absolute hardcovers from DC (Danger Girl, Watchmen, etc)? That would be nice! Having them be sleepcased like the Absolute versions would be nice too. I would buy it in a heartbeat, since i dont like the cheap TPBs at all, and i would be able to get rid of the single comics…

Congratulations with going into self-publishing! I wish you much success and good luck! And that cover looks fantastic

I hope y’all play up the tournament aspect of the story.

He said ā€œpat Alivin Lee and the art team on the backā€. Not ā€œPat Alivin Leeā€ :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the cover, but October is a long ways away. Are you guys doing a half issue or anything like that before then?

Still going to have Back-up stories in each issue? Honestly, since you already have the Rival School’s license, I’d nix the back-ups and Cheap Shoots and replace them with a 4-5 pages RS story, or maybe have a larger RS story broken up into 4-5 pages an issue.

I love seeing the other artist’s take on it as much as the next guy, but I think a Rival School’s back up would be a better way to use the pages.
This would help expose more fans to it, and make launching a regular series, or mini series more worthwhile, not to mention get a better grasp on how people recieve the book.

If it didn’t take, you could always just go back to the side stories.

Just my 2 cents. I’d hate to see you launch a series that did poorly just because no one was familiar with it.

Okay, Street Fighters coming back. Thats great. Now, where’s Rival Schools…

will there be power foil variants?

I remember discussing this same idea (here?) way back. Rival Schools is a very small property (even fighting game fans dont know it very well), so launching a monthly comic of it may be a bad idea. Specially considering that even some of the people that know RS and buy SF/DS may think its ā€œtoo kiddyā€ or something, due to the younger characters.

The problem with this is that 4-5 pages is very, very little, and you cant really develop anything meaningful on 5 page bursts every month (which is kinda sad, considering RS has the most straight-forward and interesting plot of the three properties). Still, its better than nothing.

Another good thing, at least to me, is that changing artists every month in a back-up would mean not having to read RS drawn by that guy from the Summer Special…

No offense to the Udon people (I love your artwork), but was that pose really necessary for Chun Li?

Ooopsy…

Nothing wrong with a spinning star kick. The cover looks awesome Eko. My favorite from Alvin. he’s improves so much I am going to have to say he’s as good as Arn now. And yes I did hold my breath if you know what I mean E.

Well, it WAS drawn by a male.

I love it. Cant wait Eko.

I don’t see any problem with it

Yeah, it was in some Rival School’s ā€œshout outā€ thread.

I definately feel a decent writer could do a 20 page story in 4 parts. It’d just be like a little summer special at the back of each issue. Most sample scripts are 3-5 pages and almost always end with a cliffhanger. You can actually tell a lot of story in 5 pages, especially since you say RS’ story is very straight forward.

I just don’t feel that having 4 pages of essentially redundant backstory and a comic strip that’s only been a hit a couple times is justifiable over making SOME use of RS.

Not all the backstories were throw aways. Like Cammy vs Rose, or Ryu beating Sagat, but most of them are just illustrations of little character facts that have already been established. Such as Guile’s rocky marriage or Ken/Ryu training together. Or Ken and Eliza getting engaged.

Again: love seeing the various artists doing SF but you can accomplish basically the same thing with an alternate cover.

If UDON already has to pay the fees for Rival Schools why let it idle?

Awesome cover! Only thing i can think of to say is ā€œaction-packed!ā€

Regarding the RS discussion, i gotta say that i don’t care nearly as much about RS as SF or DS. Personally i love the SF backstories. There were a couple that were disappointing to me, such as the Salvador LaRocca one, but that’s definately the exceprion, not the rule.

I mean, how often do we get a good SF comic going? I think the Udon SF comic is pretty much the only one i’ve liked. I’ve seen a whole bunch of different ones too, including some random Japanese ones.

So my take on it is this: Udon’s SF backstories offer us variety with professional SF art that we’ve never had before. I don’t wanna give that up to push RS a little bit ahead on the schedule. I’m still holding out for a Travis Charest backstory involving some of the more ā€œspecial forcesā€ type characters - Guile/Cammy/Rolento. Plus it’s not like they can get these guest artists to do RS stories instead.

Since we’re even talking about this stuff, i think Final Fight is WAY more popular than RS. I agree that an FF comic would not do as well as the SF comic, but it’s gotta do better than RS (unless i’m missing something and there’s a huge RS market among the dreaded mole people that live beneath the earth’s crust).
