Dude I can’t run this. No more 360 for a month… red rings of death.
If I could guarantee I could be here the whole duration, I would.
Someone needs to step up
Shit man, that sucks. Ok I have never run a tourney before, I am more then willing to help though, if anyone is willing to help organize this, please message me and I will do what I can to assist.
If it’s still on I’m in.
You don’t really need a 360 to run the bracket, you just have to keep track of wins and losses and update the bracket post. You’ll just need to have an IRC room instead of the XBLA party.

OK, Due to Chunbelivables horrible luck with the red rings o doom, I will try my best to set this tourney up.
I could use a little help; specifically, tourney format, a good online self updating bracket maker.
I would like to define the rules/set up quickly and get to work making this happen. Do we need a 3rd party spectator? (to report win/loss?)
Can the 360 party system handle this many people? If it can, we will need to establish a method of communication that works for everyone so wins/losses are recorded and new matches are confirmed quickly and easily.
I can shoot for Saturday/Sunday start time, I could use some suggestions.

idk if thats any good or free, but I just did a quick google search and got that.
I’ll help out instead of enter if need be, but I don’t have any real ideas to approaching an online tourney, so I don’t know how much help I’ll be.
edit: heres another one

These could be total crap I don’t have time to really investigate now, sorry.
I would love to jump in on this but I work on Sat pretty much all day.

I am checking out Bracketmaker.com right now, I think its going to be single elimination, best 2/3 matches (do we want classic 3 round or the new 5 round?), I am thinking the simplest form of communicating will be me spamming all friend text messages to my friends list (meaning you all need to send me FR on XBL) That way there will be no broken headset mishaps, or “I didnt hear you well” type issues, and everyone will get the same message at the same time. (I have a Keyboard hooked up to the 360, and will have a simple to the point format for the winners to fight whoever next to keep things moving smoothly.)
Basically, I announce that rounds matches, first name mentioned in match creates a private player match and invites current opponent, they battle, winner reports victory to me via Text or Voice, everyone waits a bit while I tally the wins, update the bracket, then we repeat.
Does anyone have the ability to record matches? (Keits im lookin’ :wgrin: at you bud) Im thinking only the final 3-5 matches for simplicitys sake.
I fear connection issues, how do we want to deal with this? If 2 players cannot connect/have horrible lag, how are we going to handle this? Suggestions?
Ok, here is what I have so far, we have one wonky bracket, I know, waiting to see if more people join, deadline to join is 11:59 PM (Mountain Standard Time) Friday Dec 05. If people are NOT going to be able to make it, please, let me know so I can make the adjustments. If by the Friday deadline I still have a messed up Bracket, I will randomly pick a few players to have a first round bye to compansate.
Heres a sample I recorded from Live

Make sure to press “view in high quality” at the bottom or else it looks like shit…
So I can do it, but my set up is pretty hood.
Wow! Thats really nice! I’ll see if i can get you some back up to help with the recording. It will be pretty cool to get the semi/finals recorded for SRK bragging rights. :wgrin:
I’m down if this still is going.
Ok, brackets updated, if anyone notices that they are missing from the list, let me know!:looney:
What was the start time for this? Sat Dec 6th 1pm PST? I better brush up on the time zone action here to avoid confusion…
Oh, and I am still very concerned about the possibility of some players not being able to connect/laggy connection, what should the course of action be? Shuffling around the brackets on the fly in the first couple of rounds could get kinda ugly with me frantically trying to update the brackets repeatedly, I belive some kind of standard rule needs to come into play in this situation, to avoid a great deal of people bitching.
Ok, I am going to run with Default settings; Game speed 3, smoothing is user choice, mode is Remixed (duh), best 2/3 rounds out of best 2/3 matches, Single Elimination. (no dips!)
I’m sure its been beaten to death, but everyone should forward ports 88 and 3074 UDP/TCP on their router for XBL. Also sometimes opening ports 9000-9005 UDP helps as well for outbound communications.
To access most routers go to http://192.168.1.1
more info http://portforward.com/
On that note I have been thinking about the possible connection issues we could face, and I have a standard set of actions that everyone should take to help everything run smoothly:
#1 Ok, to avoid confusion in the matchmaking, the FIRST name mentioned in a matchup sends the invite. (EG; Playthisdude VS Playersomeguy, **Playthisdude **would create and invite Playersomeguy to a private player match.)
#2 If cannot connect, or REALLY laggy, scrap and try again. (humor me, please)
#3 If that does not work, have the 2nd player in matchup try to host. (could have better upload speed then player 1, making for a better connection)
#4 Player 2 repeat step #2
If after these steps are taken, and still no connection, one player from the matchup please message me, and after the first round is underway, I will take stock of those who are having issues and TRY to rearrange those who are affected. I will be ok with giving 1 BYE in the first round for this, but if the same person has issues in round 2 (2nd tier of the brackets) im sorry, but your out.
Maybe I am reading it wrong…but it looks like FallingEdge gets 2 byes. I never run double elimination brackets, so I can’t offer a way to fix it. I can only point at it and say, “Uhm?”.
this saturday might not work for me. i can play but i dunno for how long. i work @ 5 ET and 1pst is 4 for me so if we can make it earlier itd work but yeah.
