SFCCL Season 3 (PS3 Online League)

Is there anything we can do to spice things up now that im 99.9% completed. Still trying to play feiinweltall hes tough to get a hold of but was hoping there was something else to do now that all my matches are done. Need more competition was fun getting on every night and playing all those league games.

i vote we play everyone twice:rock:

I have 3 more matches to play before completing both of my fighter’s schedule (also looking for FEIINWELTALL). The average number of matches played for Western Conference fighters is 8.7 matches thus far.

The problem with the current format this season is that some members play much faster than others. VON and DR ROUSE were the first two members to play all of their matches. The remaining 13 members have between 3 to 13 matches played. The average number played there is only 7.15 matches. If we were to add more matches for VON, DR ROUSE, MANWITHNOARMS, or yourself (HADUKEN), we would have to add matches to everyone else to keep the # of matches fair for everyone. The other, slower members would have an even harder time to play all of their matches. Those extra matches would end up being forfeited and I never want that to happen. That is why I created this new format. I’ve had to replace 6 members this season after the original members changed their minds & were not going to play their matches.

I, personally, love to play more league matches, but for the betterment of the league, it’s not a good idea since not everyone has played the majority of their matches. Currently, we are in Week 11 out of 18 for the season. With 28 total matches to be played over the 18 weeks, everyone should average 1.55 matches per week. Thus, thru Week 11, everyone should have 17.1 matches complete so far (or 8.55 per figher). We are right on pace (8.55 vs 8.7 actual).

Compared to the Eastern Conference (avg 3 matches complete per fighter) and the European Region (avg 6.1 matches complete per fighter), the Western Conference has been the most active. But it has slowed down. I have not gotten any match results for the Western Conference since the Week 9.

To further the discussion above, I have thought about a hybrid version of the current format for season 4.

The season would list all fighters for each fighter on their schedule. For example, if the same 30 members want to play again, instead of asking everyone to play every match (58 matches possible), the format would be geared more towards getting the most wins possible. We could still have the two separate regions for East and West to help with time & lag, but the top 16 fighters from each region would advance to the ‘playoffs’, Super Brawl IV. No A or B divisions, just one division. We would still have the top 16 fighters advance tho.

There would be minimum number of matches required to play to make the playoffs, as to not reward a member who only plays & wins one match. The losses would not count since the fighters with most wins would advance to the playoffs. A loss would just be a lost opportunity to gain another win to move up the rankings.

For example, lets say VON plays 20 matches, and wins 19 of them. Then, you play 25 matches and only win 18 matches. You could then still play another 33 matches if you wanted to try and get more “wins” then VON. Conversely, VON could also play more to maintain his lead. This would give everyone up to 58 matches to play over another 18 weeks perhaps. I doubt anyone could play all 58, but there could be a reward for doing it. A minimum number of matches could be 25% of the matches, or 15 matches. For someone who only plays the minimum 15 matches and wins them all, they could be down in the rankings simply because other members play more. For example, I could play 30 matches and win half of them. In the standings, I would be ranked higher versus the ‘minimum 15 matches/15 wins’ member, since I played more matches even tho I only won half of them. Its the one drawback to this new system. We could also still have live events.

I say 58 possible matches instead of 60 since each member (30 members x 2 fighters each = 60 fighters total) has 2 fighters, and there would be no need for mirror matches against your own fighter or secondary fighter.

If there is a season 4, this is the format I would propose. It continues the idealogy of this current season for more freedom and play at your own pace, but would keep the more active members busy. Of course, the East vs West matches could suffer from lag and timing issues. I am not 100% committed to another season as I just don’t know how much interest there is for another season. There are only 4 players on the current Waiting List in the Americas Region. We have one dead spot in the European Region. In other words, our numbers are dwindling. Even with AE 2012 patch, the game is practically 3 years old. I’ll make up mind by the end of the season, and then propose this idea.

SFCCL League Update - Week 11
http://sfccl.weebly.com/blog.html

Faced off with Lunaslave1999. Cody managed to defeat Rose 2-1 in the end, but Guy failed to stop Oni from trouncing all over him. Good Games, I always enjoy a powerful new opponent.

Hello everyone, just want to apologize for the long hiatus. Had some family matters going on but all is well and I am back. I will try to add all the newcomers this week and look forward to playing my remaining matches.

Thanks.

Thanx for the results, SMOOTH. Congrats on the win. LUNASLAVE emailed me the results as well, and expressed the fun he is having playing his league matches despite not winning.

Good to have you back, TROY. You are one of the two remaining matches I have left on my schedules. Looking forward to playing.

I think if I net a few more wins with Cody, I’ll solidify my spot in the top eight finals.

Really want to finish my matches tried to send feiinweltall messages last night but no response.

Finally played FEIINWELTALL the other nite. Only have to play WELCOME2TROYLAND and MARCOPOLO177 to finish my schedules. Haven’t played much in the last month or so tho.

SFCCL presents 2011 FALL BRAWL
http://sfccl.weebly.com/blog.html

Won against Supremeking with Cody! Balrog got knocked the F out~

Guy vs Evil Ryu? Game set and match with Guy~

Won against CapitolC’s Chun-Li with Cody. As for Deejay? Nike Wearing Ninja Guy Put Him Down.

Thanx for the results, and congrats on the 4 wins, SMOOTH. Always good to see the Eastern Conference in action.

I’m gonna try and get a shot at Treyx later too. I wanna solidify my Top 8 Spot.

Sounds good, SMOOTH. Good luck tho as TREYX1 has been MIA all season long.

I will be making an announcement within the week regarding those unplayed matches. Unfortunately, there many more of them than I expected with 4 weeks to go in the season. Those that play will be rewarded, while those that refuse to play will be dealt with as well.

Reminder: SFCCL Fall Brawl 2011 tonite!

See, he was online just the other night. Bleh…

Also, I’m so ready for Fall Brawl!

Edit:

I don’t know WHAT The fuck happened, but I could never connect to Von nor Capitol C. Or the other guy. Pisses me right the hell off… Regardless, congrats to whoever wins.

ggs to evereyone I played last night. Thank you Sal for making the league fun. XX Von XX, dude you are scary. You are one of the reasons why I hate the game and why I need to play it more to understand it. Alfredurst your Gouken was nice. I loved how you were able to zone and control your spacing. It was fun to watch but sucked playing against. Normally with Sim I am trying to do that. lol And Sal why did you keep using Bison? j/k I need to figure out how to punish that darn teleport.

And Sal I was going to play our matches (I said yes) but when I kept looking it showed you on but not playing Street Figther IV. I waited for a while and then signed off. We’ll do them this weekend I’m sure.

SMOOTH - Yeah, I don’t know what happened with you. CAPITOLC and VON couldn’t connect whenever you were in the room. DJ__C–4 from Guatemala also has problems like this when we do live events. I tried various lobby options to make it work, but nothing changed. Typical Capcom online crap. 8 players in one lobby my ass…only if Capcom programming says so.

WELCOME2TROYLAND - Awesome run last nite! Congrats on nabbing 2nd Place. We had a great battle there at the end with Bison and Dhalsim. Bison is a much easier matchup versus your Dhalsim. Too much patience required to work inside with my Fei Long or Ken. Still, my rust with Bison was apparent as I wasn’t quick enough many times.

Highlights and official blog coming later today. Thanx to all that played in FALL BRAWL! Fun event in the end.
