SFA3 Tricks video (Version2)

Thongboy is probably really busy lately.

I don’t think he’d be interested in making another video so soon after his last one.

Like you said before, it’s hard to cover new ground with Akuma since he’s so popular.

I didn’t put a lot of stuff in my vid because that same sort of stuff appears in a lot of other vids.

Thanks.

… I’ve been trapped on the East coast & broke as hell. :frowning:

i guess this is taking it to the extreme, but what’s with the plurality on the readme? :stuck_out_tongue:

yet to see it, but i’m sure it’ll be good…

I know it’s hard to find new Akuma stuff, but there has to be something that has been over looked =)

I blame sleep deprivation. I’ve been suffering from insomnia lately. Fortunately I use apostrophes in the vid.

If you find anything, be sure to let everyone know.

haha, yeah. Just between you and me I’ve been staring at the opening bits of my new vid for like 3 weeks and haven’t touched it in just as long. I’m tired or something.

I just finished another (Non-SF) vid for my company, so now I’m kind of in the mood again. I’m gonna see if I can slowly but surely get it done this month sometime. But hey, this ain’t about me.

Keep holding it down for the A3 Community, Xeno! Keep hope alive!

N

Thanks man.

I need to not mention your name for a while. People keep interrogating me the moment your name comes up in a conversation. :stuck_out_tongue:

cross-up unblockables

Could you post the exact move chain in your vc1 unblockables ?
with the quality of the vid I only see half of the moves that come out( or 3/4).

Oh and do you know various v-ryu vc2/3 midscreen confusion vcs and their transformation when you try them in the corner ( after a push from a missed midcreen confusion vc)?

Hahaha, I dunno why. It’s not like you have hidden super-privy information about my ultra-top-secret new videos or anything.

N

PS: I should be able to send ya the beginning of the new one tomorrow. Hit me up, yo.

I’ll try and do a write up either tomarrow or thursday.

Oh, great. Now I’m going to get 50,000,000 requests for the vid that I don’t have. >.<

If I found anything I would let you know, or at least make a video of it or put it to some public use first

The only VAkuma stuff I do that I have not seen in any videos are a few not-so-great VC set ups. For example…

(Enemy near the corner but not too close, Akuma right next to them like off a cross up/kujin or something)

Execute VC1 > 2mp > 2mk > hard hyakki flip/grab > 5hp > corner juggle

If you done it from the right distance, you will land in the corner, or at least close enough to corner juggle. Maybe not for you since I seen your corner juggle in the video was [2hp > hadou (whif)]*n where as mine is [5hp > hadou (whiff)]*n, which has longer range and more damage. I do find 2hp easier to do the corner juggle with, is that why you use it? I think you should use 5hp, maybe you do use 5hp but you just didn’t in the video, is that right? Oh and if you do it mid dcreen just carry them to the corner then juggle (duh).

Anyway, to get back to the set up, the hyakki flip/grab comes out quick. I am sure you can alpha counter the start of it and escape or even anti air/teleport to escape. But, with all the negatives to it, I still manage to land it when I want to, just don’t do it too much. It does good damage also.

EDIT:

And now that I think about it, you may have been doing 4hp in the corner juggle, I watched a vid with someone doing 2hp, if that was you just let me know :stuck_out_tongue: If you were using 4hp, I still prefer 5hp

Yeah, I use back+FP.

I do it so I can get the timing on it, so that when I do the cross-up in the corner I don’t whiff it.

Interesting

I only use 4hp for some other things like…

block string
jump in hp > 4hp > hadou
4hp hits a crouching enemy so I think it’s perfect for this.

If they jump too high for a shoryu
execute > 4hp anti air > carry

I never bothered to use it in the corner juggle. I think 5hp is much easier for me.

You know that you have made a good tutorial video when they are praising you on the japanese forums.

Keep up the good work Xeno

-BlazeD

Oh, really? What forum are you talking about?

Thanks for mentioning that.

Damn. Now you’re even cooler than ME. That’s fucked up.

N - Now I must CRUSH you with my new work. Oh yes.

LOL.

By all means, please do. And be sure to not go easy on the Ibuki. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it just me, or do those unblockables only work on honda? If so you know how to cut them down to work on everyone?

good to point out that unblockable just means it’s wrong to block. reversal vc’s, dp’s, teleports. fuck this stuff up.

hmm, liked the juni walk cancel vc, shotty.

I’m interested in Sagat’s infinite set-ups. the problem with the one that you showed against Chun is that a opponent would walljump out of the shadow’s or j.strongs range. It would be better to play a mix-up game with the shadow pop.

you ever see this old sagat thread? http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39799&highlight=sagat+infinite

good vid, always like seeing a3, especially new stuff.

ken’s corner vc is sick, vc3 [c.forward, fireball, c.forward, fireball,s.jab, j.fierce, fireball] can be ac’ed. saw Ino rinsing this when mans had no meter.

TS will prolly know that sick v-rose set-up, unblockable, into dishcloth, walk cancel, combo into infinite (cc’ed v.strongs building 50%). i’ll have a look for it. anyhoo.

sub

Thanks to my better Internet connection I was finally able to download the vid and I can just say, well done Xeno. It’s good to see, that some people still love and do something for Alpha 3.

Some are harder to land than others, but technically you just need to land with your characters cross-up and do a quick crouching attack, either deep or high depending on what character you’re using.

For example, Chun-Li’s cross-up jumping SK is a hell of a lot easier than Rolento’s cross-up jumping FK or SP.

And some characters don’t have any cross-ups at all, like M.Bison (end boss).

That was technically the point of the 6 Chun-Li unblockable demonstrations (vs Ryu) at the beginning, before the other unblockables. It shows that even if he did a reversal DP, Alpha Counter, or attempted to block it correctly, he was screwed.

What I mean is, he couldn’t do anything. He could not block it, he could not reversal it, and he could not AC it. And if he was in V-ism (as most Ryu’s do), he would have no supers that could go through it. And as far as I know, you can not use a VC activation as a reversal (meaty attacks stuff it).

Chun-Li is not the only character that can do this. Though hers is by far the easiest to pull off.

If performed properly, those types of unblockables are truely unblockable and some characters aren’t even able to escape them.

Also, in every unblockable demonstration, the opponent blocks the initial cross-up the correct way, but their guard is broken by a nearly simultaneous high+low attack. EG. The shadow of the cross-up hits at virtually the same time the crouching attack hits. And since very few people I know of are able to block high, then low, then high within 1-5 frames between hits, I consider most of those “true” unblockables. Had the opponent not blocked the correct way, they would have been stuck in hit-stun for long enough to land and continue the combo.

That said, yes you can escape them with certain reversals. Though there aren’t that many special moves in the game that can escape them, and reversal supers are often highly punishable – though some supers, like Ken and Cammys, have hitboxes that allow them to hit on both sides.

Reversal DP’s, as demonstrated in the video, don’t necessarily mean you can escape. Chun-Li was able to avoid getting hit by Ryu’s reversal DP and lead into her infinite CC without letting Ryu tech-flip. Had he done a fierce DP, Chun-Li would have had more than enough time to react and punish.

shotty?

V-Rolento has some walk cancel combos as well. In fact, a lot of characters do. I put hers in there to demonstrate that you can attack twice or more in the air during a VC.

Huh?

There was no Sagat vs Chun-Li in my video. I had a few Sagat infinites, but no set-ups.

Also, every opportunity to tech-flip was recorded in my video. the only time the opponent could tech flip and didn’t was during the A-Rose dizzy combo. You can also technically tech-flip out of V-Karins infinite set-up, but the timing has to be exact and most humans are not able to tech-flip it consistantly. Quite a few Karin players use it sucsessfully in matches (such as a-cho matches).

Though, even if the opponent flipped out of that Rose combo, the opponent was in the corner and she had 2 bars of meter, which means they would have gotten hit with a level 2 Soul Throw super.

This is why I left both the Karin and the Rose combos in there.

Thanks.
