M.Bison meaty options:

As RSX has mentioned earlier, if you use the kick Warp after throwing the opponent and hit crouching Forward, your attack will be a meaty. You can also set up the meaty crouching Forward with a kick Warp after a Level 1 Knee Press Nightmare.
After you hit with your meaty crouching Forward, with good timing it’s possible to link into another crouching Forward, which can then be cancelled into a Knee Press Nightmare. From there you can go into a loop. What’s handy, though, is the fact that you can also use his crouching Short as a meaty, which you can then link into the first hit of his standing Roundhouse, which can be cancelled into a Nightmare or the Double Knee Press. So this allows you to throw an opponent who is expecting a frame trapping crouching Forward - or is tricked by the similar looking animation of the crouching short to the crouching Forward.

Meaty Combo options starting from an unteched throw or a Level 1 Knee Press Nightmare:

  • meaty crouching Forward-> crouching Forward-> Knee Press Nightmare
  • meaty crouching Forward-> standing Roundhouse (first hit)-> Knee Press Nightmare or Roundhouse Double Knee Press
  • meaty crouching Short-> standing Roundhouse-> Roundhouse Double Knee Press or Nightmare

Meaty mix-up possibilities starting with a throw or a Level 1 Knee Press Nightmare:

meaty crouching Forward-> walk in and throw-> if not teched, repeat the meaty loop.
meaty crouching Forward-> hesitate a small moment, to let the opponent start a throw tech-> crouching Forward-> Level 1 Knee Press Nightmare-> loop.
meaty crouching Short-> throw
meaty crouching Short-> hesitate for a small moment-> crouching forward-> Nightmare-> loop if possible

Yeah pretty much. I’m pretty sure they ruined most of the online a2 scene for ggpo, since no one likes to play or put up with them. I’d just strictly play Americans, some of the Japanese, and probably any country that isn’t Brazil.

You can also meaty RH slide and I don’t think they can reverse it or no 1 has reversed me when i’ve done it to them. Just make sure you have the correct spacing when you slide or you will eat a combo. It’s safe on meaty.

Really want to improve my Sakura game. The links in the first post are broken for me. Is that information still around somewhere?

What Links are broken?

The ones for individual characters on page 1. Where it will say something like “Ryu 101” then have a gif of the character, then a link. The links don’t work for me.

Remember when playing with bison in A2 to know your the correct spacing so you can punish all projectiles used against you. Bison is almost as fast a vega. with his movement and jump speed. Bison is a heavy footies type character. While he has good combo’s you’ll get most of your damage off your footies game imo.

All the links are broken, but the info is all in this thread, they are big posts hard to miss. Sakura really is all about building meter, zoning, and knocking down. She has an extremely good knockdown game due to her j.mk beng retarded and meaty cross up set ups. One knockdown can essentially win you the round easily with cross up, high/low mix ups. She can easily combo to sho’ouken from her overhead or even a super.

Usually most sakuras will zone with her extremely good s.rh and fireball, which you can charge to stop jump ins. Once you get any type of knockdown start her mix up. Spam rh and fireballs until then. She easily anti airs anyone with c.fp, s.mk, and custom combos. Dreamfire could give better tips on her match ups overall as Sakura is my least used character in that game.

There is no added + frames on counterhit right?

I picked chun, did cr.hk to legs to upkicks for cc’s, then played her like ST chun with her normals. Worked out alright :slight_smile:

As you probably all know. It can be a real hassle to reversal on wakeup effectively in Alpha2.

Today I sat down with FBA-RR, macrolua and frame advancing to figure out why the hell Alpha2 reversals are so difficult.

The answer is simple: You have 1 frame to reversal. As in, exactly 1 frame. You can’t use pianoing or negative edge to make it easier. As soon as you do the input for a reversal DP a frame to early, it empties the buffer. So the negative edge or the subsequent button press of the piano isn’t going to do you any good.

I have no idea if this was known. But yeah, reversalling in Alpha2 comes down to 1 frame. Add to that that Turbo can skip the reversal frame, leading to an extremely small chance of hitting your reversal consistently.

This will be a nice experiment. #alpha2 channel on efnet server. This should help out with matchmaking if you don’t want to play with turbo using Brazilians.

I’ve got a couple question about Sagat’s tiger knee:
it appears 2nd hit whiffs when any opponent is crouching,moreover 2 hit seems to connect only against SOME standing characters(zangief,adon for sure)
how unsafe is 1 hit version in combo?
Is it fully reckless to use it in normal combos(no cc)?checking the stance before hitconfirm :sweat:
