Well, of course his playstyle also is what speaks to me but so does his char and backstory. I want both of them to stay intact and not ruined. They can do that… I want to believe.
Considering the cast is largely not affected visually in SF5, I don’t think we’d have anything to worry about. Cammy is still Cammy, has a slight update in appearance. Chun is still Chun, Ryu is still Ryu, Bison is still Bison even with the new coat update. The only one with a drastic update is Birdie, but given SF1 to Alpha had a color change because he has a skin disease and one of his favorite past times being gluttony, it makes sense within the character context for yet another change in appearance. Even Ken is mostly the same, through out the games he’s had several hair updates so yet another is not out of the ordinary and he still rocks the red gi, just with the top folded down while sporting a skin tight work out shirt.
I’m sure if Vega makes it in, he’ll be fine. We’ll probably have 5 or 6 alts eventually in case we don’t care for the standard look. I know that I rarely play with the default costume anymore in USF4.
Ohhhhh boy
cool
Vega returns to Street Fighter V with a brand new look and new tricks up his frilly sleeves. Possessing his trademark speed and quickness, Vega now has access to two distinct fighting modes: with claw and without claw.
That’s right, he now has the ability to sheathe his claw during battle in exchange for new moves, such as a command grab, as well as new attack properties, greatly changing the way he approaches each fight. Knowing when to toggle between the two styles will be the key to success, and it also allows for new combo possibilities. Conversely, Vega will no longer be able to pick up his claw once it’s knocked off, so knowing how to fight without the claw is a must! Players who enjoy tricky movement and the technical challenge of switching between claw/no-claw fighting styles will definitely find the beauty in Vega’s play style.
V-Skill: Matador Turn
Vega swiftly dodges the opponent’s incoming attack and chooses whether to launch a quick counterattack that knocks them down or not.
V-Trigger: Bloody Kiss
Vega throws a rose at high velocity towards the opponent. If it hits, he charges behind it and delivers a series of brutal slashes that devastate the enemy. The move can be done as an anti-air from crouch or as an air attack when jumping forward, making it an extremely versatile projectile attack, as well as a combo extender.
Fans attending Gamescom this week will be able to experience the character first hand on the show floor at the Sony booth, so be sure to stop by! I’ll certainly be looking forward to seeing what players come up with once they get their hands on the character. Till next time!
Reveal trailer wasn’t nearly as tits as Necalli’s but he looks good, so far. His face and hair could use some work, and he still looks a bit slow, BUT!!
Is that a low hitting claw jab we saw? Plus, his attacks look new and fresh. Looks like Omega Vega in many ways, the new no claw fighting style is straight from that. FBA goes SUPER HIGH, ala SFxT. That’s good, will make air to air more difficult since we can maneuver above the opponent and gives us a lot of room to change projection, but it also gives grounded opponents a ton of time to react. If the hurt box sucks as much as SF4 and A3, then it’s still going to be worthless outside of EX. Still, can’t be worse than in SF4, since no one can derp focus it and dodge at the last second.
RCF still looks a little slow. It might not matter that much in this game though, considering you can combo medium into heavy attacks. Perhaps the hit stun will be more than enough to connect.
Oh, and DODGE!! He got a dodge, like I wanted!
I do not like losing the claw permanently. Just what the fuck. Why is him having his claw knocked off still a thing today? Even way back in SF2 they realized it was a dumb idea and let you get it back after 4 iterations of not being able to. At this point, you should never have it knocked off. Or at least give us a meter so we can sheath the claw and rebuild health points for it or something.
Looks like they decided to go with his Alt 1 costume as his main for this game. I was hoping for something else and perhaps his sash to be longer and thicker and perhaps having a matador cape extending from his shoulder to his non-claw hand, which would have been really cool to animate in the new engine. I wanted to see a bit more flow around him, especially after seeing Necalli’s hair and Bison’s new coat.
Projectile rose is awesome. A way to open the opponent up and get in for some sweet, stylin’ spanish damage.
I’m excited. I can finally retire 4 and never, ever look back.
VEGA IS CONFIRMED
He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Anyone going to GamesCom?
IT’S HAPPENED GUYS! LET THE CELEBRATIONS BEGIN!
Rejoice guys!! We are IN!!
Now to wait for the salt
Some people are mad that Vega is in because they think he’s not a fan favorite.
Everyone salty 'cause they don’t understand true beauty c:<
Check out the SF5 thread for my break down of the video
I hope the new combos won’t be too hard to use. Vega is already a very tricky character, so I’m worried about sucking with him in V.
I think they said combos are minimum 3 frame links, so no more 2 or 1 frame link hell. You should be fine.
Well goodbye Tekken7 then…
Also he’s back in true beauty, no Phantom of the Opera nonsense
Yeah, thank god (char devs in this case? lol)
WOW… that’s a game-changer
Vega’s gameplay is ruined.
