I used to be part of those people wanting no-mirroring in SF4 and be like SFEX when the trailer were previewed. Yet I realize it doesn’t work.
Actually the earlier beta test of SF4 were like that of SFEX, but it turned out to be terrible and doesn’t work with the gameplay SF4 is into.
Spaces in SFEX works in a different way so along with the cornering opponents. So it doesn’t work with traditional SF gameplay.

I’ve been considering buying this. Depth wise, how deep is it? I’ve spent so much time in the lab in MVCI, is BBTag as deep? @Hecatom

I would say that despite the simplified control scheme, yes it has a lot of depth.
And like the MVC series it has also a lot of dumb stuff that can be fun, but also frustrating for some people.
Also, some dont really like the simple controls and autocombos, so if that could be a problem for you, just try it at a local or something if you can.

Is there manual combos too?

Yes there are, but most of them involve the use of autocombos since some of your normals and launchers are behind them.
For example
Of course they are day one combos, but it can give you an idea on how the game is played
The game is made simple since the idea is that is an spinoff game that serves as gateway to fgs, anime fgs and tag team fgs.

Thank you for your excellent input, brother.
Most optimized bnbs are harder than almost any combo in sfv. Combos are probably on par with mvci.
If you like sfxt and mvci, then you’ll like this game

I think he was talking about the character as in the game, and not as in the source material.

Capcom needs to change Gill’s stance to normal. Not this Virtua Fighter or Tekken stuff!!!
Mirroring 3D models on side switch only started being a thing with SF4. SFEX was released in 1996 and had perspective-correct modelling, such that shotos would DP with their back to you (as usual) on 1P side but with their chest to you on 2P side. It’s not a problem… or at least, not any more of a problem than hit/hurtboxes are in any other game (including the 2D CPS2 games).
Personally, I think it’s appropriate that Gill was the first (canon) 2D SF character that had different sprites for 1P and 2P side, and now he’s the first (canon) 3D SF character that has a perspective-correct model.
So they will change how Street Fighter is played in general. I’m assuming that this will be a test for SF6; meaning that in SF6 we will have opposite stances for all characters, not just Gill.
They tried it already with SF4 and didn’t pan out well during the early beta test.

I think that by that time, it wasnt them trying to have it, but more that they didnt have finished the stuff needed to keep the sprite mirror thing.
After all, the whole reason why they didnt green lit a new sf for years prior sfiv was becasue they werent conviced that sf would work as a 3d game, and only green lit sfiv once they saw battle fantasia simulating the 2d feel while being done with 3d technology.
