SF5 Lounge: Idom Wins. Only Poison is Woman enough for Capcom Cup

Personally I love Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare but I understand if one’s pea brain can’t comprehend EXO suits.

Unreal tournament was the GOAT multiplayer FPS.

Shoutout to Tribes: Ascend too, definitely the most fun I’ve had this decade with an FPS.

Oh we need examples now. US players have said some ridiculously wild stuff through out the years.

Gotta be some hilariously grimy shit if you don’t want to repeated.

Nah I’m good. Truthfully I don’t even care for FPS as a genre I prefer TPS.

And speaking on the Transformers: WFC was the best. Hilariously broken, hilariously fun.

On PC I agree. That and Quake 3.

Halo doesn’t work on PC.

I also don’t think it’s fair to compare PC and console shooters. The games have really different metas on both platforms.

How does halo not work on pc?

No way man.
That’s something I want to keep under wraps forever. It’s great for us, but not for foreign people

The game is explicitly balanced/built around thumbstick aiming.

Adding M&KB breaks the game balance in several ways.

If you only played Halo on PC I fully expect you “wouldn’t get it”. Kinda like playing Unreal Tournament on console.

Fair enough. Like I mentioned earlier, I plainly don’t like console FPSes.

Also, the meta changes within individual games based on platforms? Cool, I actually hadn’t thought of that but it makes sense. I’d imagine precision weapons get better on PC overall?

Most of my halo experience is CE on PC and Reach on Xbox so idk. I’ve never experienced a game on both platforms to compare directly.

Like PC/CE pistol is amazing where as in other games I often dropped it quickly

Yes, and map design “should” be different. In a modern game Overwatch has different balance on Console and PC and a different meta on both platforms (I actually prefer the console meta as it’s less chaotic imo).

To use a halo example. How the auto aim behaves on console varies a bit from weapon to weapon (most notably the sniper lacks any when unscoped). PC removes this.

Sniper is amazing on pc tho wym

Yep, and it’s not just that, but it changes the effectiveness of different sight lines on the map, in ways that it wasn’t intended for.

Halo is built to be played on console, and those limitations are part of the design. It’s part of why H1 was so revolutionary.

So pc is bad because the sniper can delete anyone who peaks or because it’s still good at deleting people up close too?

No explanation needed

Nah, Halo was designed ground-up to be a console shooter, and it doesn’t translate that well to PC for several reasons.

I have an old article where a game designer explains this pretty nicely, I’ll see if I can find it. It summarizes my feelings on the game/series pretty well.

Yes.

Bad is a bit strong. But the game is fundamentally different on console. I don’t think Halo on PC is really special. Just play UT or Quake.

Another example, you move really slow in halo by PC standards, and maps are all built more horizontal than vertical due to thumbstick aim.

A pure PC shooter will typically turn up movement as the ability to acquire targets.

The H5 pistol is super good. Not CE levels but very, very strong.

But then again, H5 has near flawless weapon balance.

I would get annoyed that we’re talking about shooters but then I realise that we could have been discussing MOBAs and that’s worse

We are discussing halo with a side of UT.

This is a classy conversation.
