A couple of things should be added:

SF4 doing what it did for the US scene made it possible to advertise a lot of other games through tournament streams. Streaming was going to happen, but it putting so much hype into the US scene helped a lot.

MK always sold and is always going to sell. Although it would’ve been stuck doing shitty 3D gameplay instead of shitty 2D gameplay that’s leap better than anything that came out in the PS2 era.

Tekken and Anime games were never as popular as Capcom games in this side of the pond. That’s why SF4 mattered. For better or worse, the SF fanbase just grinded a lot harder during those times. Other scenes are in there too now though.
I’m not sure what this is trying to say. Is it saying that people hating on the US are dumb?

Heck yes. T2 is awesome and well worth the watch.
But the 1st with the horror vibes was a better movie imo.

The trajectory of the MK series was forever changed by SF4. This doesn’t take away from the brilliant marketing moves and the hard work NRS put into the game. If anything, it demonstrates that they have their ear to the ground and were paying attention and this has caused their franchise to explode and become bigger than ever more than 2 decades into its life.
FG’s evolution as competitive e-sport was greatly accelerated by SF4, and now SF5. This is absolutely undeniable. Capcom more than any other developer in this genre has made huge strides with its community to bring us to the forefront of competitive gaming as a whole.
You can take shits on SF4 and even SF5 for a lot of things, but they still have a huge impact on the business of FGs. For the longest time, other devs looked to Capcom to lead to the way on many fronts in this genre. Even today, games like the new GG are irrevocably and clearly influenced by SF5’s own direction.
Yeah, you had mentioned that people were angry at the US being the centre of the FGC despite all the good stuff to come out from it. I’m saying that those people are dumb for wasting their energy on something like that.

It did prove you could do it and be successful.
Despite my dislike of SF4, that game was a risk to make back then. It succeeding made other devs more comfortable going down a similiar route.
It’s kinda like PUBG. That game is garbage, but it’s success made other devs more comfortable going down that road and making better games.
I still don’t like BR games though.

Both Titan fall games are amazing.
Though I think TF1 had a slightly better multiplayer.
TF2s single player is top notch though and the multiplayer is still fantastic.

I was playing Tekken, Soul Calibur, KoF, DoA, Virtua Fighter, GG, VS titles and Tekken in arcades and events well before SFIV.

Titanfall coming out exclusively on Xbox killed alot of the potential for it same with KI.
KI is probably the best over all handled fighting game to release this gen.
It constantly got updates and better, free 2 play events and a ton of single player things
