Everyone in SFV is already Makoto so I feel like she’d feel pretty flat. Mika plays really samey to Mak already tbh. And I’d say a solid 50% of the rosters dashes are at that 17f hella ambiguous reaction timing so they can just dash > pressure pretty easily.
I always wondered why she wasn’t added but I can understand why.
It takes every ounce of my willpower to say something positive about SFV, but the online connection has been stellar for me most of the time. It is one of the few things I don’t hate about the game. Why is everyone trashing it? Does internet just suck in the US?
It kinda does in general because the infrastructure is old in most places but it really depends on where you live and your proximity to other humans playing sfv.
You can play whatever you like, but if you hate SFV, I really don’t think you will like DBFZ. Pretty sure I’ve posted here my gripes with the game but I can summarize.
A. Blocking forever without using resources to get out.
B. Multiple mixups/fuzzies in the same blockstring once blocking.
C. Really slow gameplay for a team game.
D. Frustratingly bad gameplay mechanics (super dash, reflect, auto combos that can be whiffed and followed up in neutral, etc.)
E. Actually broken glitches that make fuzzying characters possible when they are visually NOT ON THE GROUND
Maybe this sounds scrubby to people who play the game, but it was enough to get me frustrated and leave the game.
I dunno, DBFZ doesn’t really have much in common with SFV. I could easily see you liking DBFZ while not having a care for SFV.
I say this as someone who fell off SFV, and wound up becoming one of the major authorities of DBFZ(thats weird to type but I guess its true), so take it as you will.
It should be a lot of fun, but it fell super flat with my friend. We’ve played divekick and had hella fun, played Windjammers and had hella fun too. With Fantasy Strike, we played until both of us had used everybody. Before the last game he said “this last game makes everybody”.
Which means there’s just something off about the gameplay. I’ve played stripped down games that are engaging. This game is not really doing much different than ST or SamSho in a lot of areas, but it doesn’t feel as fun as either.
When I showed him Windjammers, we were on that for a good hour and a half. Windjammers is godlike like that (if you havent, play it). This is just whatever first impression of fun it needed to level on me. Dont know what that is yet.
No you’re absolutely right. I got bored of Fantasy Strike myself after about a week. I only played because you asked.
To me its biggest issue is that it supposedly is about getting down to the core aspects of FGs at a simple level…but what it actually supports is a bunch of gimmicky shit. AAs do not exist without a full bar which is so immensely frustrating. You realize the most when playing against Setsuki. But a ton of characters can easily just jump around like monkeys with no consequence. Just a bunch of gimmicks because any hit will melt a person due to the low HP in the game.
There’s no actual depth to the game outside of the Yomi Counter and it takes a long time before you even get to that point in the gameplay and even then, 99% of the time you’ll do a Yomi Counter by mistake. It’s just barebones.
Knee went to Pakistan. Atif Butt will not play against Knee in a FT10 because of what his sponsor wants. This dude travelled all the way out from Korea for this to just not be able to play against one of their best players. Sus.
@ElliePhil, I don’t really hate SFV. To be completely honest, I love it. It’s the first fighting game to get me on a forum, as well as playing others online.
I think other games have been implemented better, but I still love SFV… I woke up this morning wanting to boot it up, despite seeing some hype DBFZ finals.
I just get tilted easily.
Truthfully, it’s more my fault than other’s. I get too emotionally driven, which leads to mistakes and salt.
