SF5 Lounge: Idom Wins. Only Poison is Woman enough for Capcom Cup

Remember that time I said I’m going to play susanoo and yumi? :joy:

Neo combos are fun and her resets are kind of nuts, especially with her command grab super

Nah, the way parries work in SFV isn’t like they do in 3S so don’t see how that kind of OS parry would work.

There’s something weird going on with BBTag’s Akatsuki.

I saw another weird glitch with him too. A whole astral finish played out but he was just standing there and survived it lol.

Also akatsuki is basically just ryu on steroids

So he’s a better character, despite only having 2 attack buttons.

Wouldnt know. Zio was just mad that MvC2 carried the FGC on its back. The gawd game kept things going strong so that we’d have it when SF4 came out.

For some reason this makes him mad. Probably because they didnt have MvC2 cabs where he lived.

:sob:

Bear with me, this could just be me remembering things wrong, but doesn’t Ryu have some kind of OS Parry? Maybe Gill will have the same.
No idea how it compares to 3S, never played it.

Either way, I think VS1 is more important to set up Retribution without burning meter.

I’m p sure retribution gets set up off any of his specials anyway so blocking might not be a bad option.

Kolin looks like Kingpin in that cover.

The Capcom Unity post states that only the EX specials set Freeze/Burn state but any Anti-Type attack triggers Retribution.

Parries were a directional input and didnt have a start up or whiff animation. That meant you could add it to random things as an OS. The most famous, SGGK, involved a parry osed into a throw tech and some other bunch of stuff that I dont remember how to perform, what it did exactly but made your defense extra tough if you played chun.

So they dont compare is the thing.

Show me where it says that. All I see is

All his heavy normal attacks, and all but one of his special moves, have an elemental alignment. When Gill throws out a fierce punch, it’ll be engulfed in flames, and when he lets fly with a standing roundhouse, it’ll hit opponents with a frozen force. But these hot and cold flashes aren’t just for show. They also form the cornerstone of Gill’s unique mechanic – Retribution (bet you’re glad we didn’t say Resurrection).

Hmm, I see the VT description kind of mentions it. This is so shittily explained.

Yep, they just casually said it on VT1’s description like it isn’t a big deal.

I guess the only reason I thought they might do something special with Gill was because they did that kara tiger knee/shot thing for Sagat when he came out. Anyways, fuck Gill.

Gills is a two height parry, Ryus is a cover all.

I know that sounds inconsequential and for situations where SFV parries are their best, it kinda is - but it makes a slight difference for twitch reaction stuff. Gills overall utility skyrockets ahead though if he can just cancel into whatever he wants.
