Here are my modded sticks with sanwa buttons + sanwa jlf stick. Been using them for about 2 weeks now and still work flawlessly.
Sounds like it could be 1 of 2 things:
1.) It could be that the smaller PCB that deals specifically with the turbo and guide button is broken/non-working.
-or-
2.) It could just be that it isn’t plugged in/connected completely. (it could be something as simple as the wires not being soldered correctly, or even not being plugged into the main PCB correctly.)
It’s a tough call. If you send it back you are going to have to wait for it to get fixed, but it is guaranteed to be fixed eventually. If you open it and void your warranty, you may be able to fix it if it is something like a loose connection. But if it is something worse, like a faulty turbo-controller PCB, you might not be able to fix it easily yourself.
Have you already opened your stick? If so then pop it open again and see if you notice any wires going to the turbo PCB that look not completely connect. Also look for anything that may be damage on the turbo’s PCB.
If you haven’t opened your stick yet you have a few options.
I’m not sure, but madcatz may still take care of your warranty if you opened your stick to take a look. You’d have to PM markman about that though. Im not sure.
I have updated the original post to include a basic guide to fixing the sticking problem, as well as a basic guide to repairing a worn-down PCB using pencil lead.
- notice: i have successfully fixed the sticking problem in my old madcatz sticks. however, i have not personally done the PCB repair with the pencil lead. the guide is based off of what people have been posting regarding the pencil lead fix. -
I have a similar problem - my RB button (on the SE joystick) stopped working. Then it started working again this morning. Then it stopped working again 30 min ago…
If only I could actually order parts right now…I guess I have to wait like 2 months
It’s not the parts because I have sanwa in mine and it’s still doing it. I’ve switched to other buttons and it still does it (I have 12 sanwa buttons).
Been a good 3 weeks of having the TE stick was fine until recently with getting this strange movement feeling, when moving the stick left and right, gets stuck after long period of playing. When you press the stick all the way to the left or right, you hit the end, but if you apply a bit more pressure it like goes in deep even more.
Is this the documented Joystick getting stuck/caught, washer problem?
I have officially given up on getting my stick collected.
I contacted MadCatz’ UK people regarding getting my defective stick repaired (feels like the common washer issue). It currently still works, as far as I know, but I wanted to get it sorted before I did any real damage. They arranged to pick it up during the week, when I was in work. and again, when I was also in work. I asked them if it would be possible to have it collected from my mother’s workplace (I don’t think It would have been OK to do where I work, security issues and that), which was OK with them, but then before I passed on said address, something came up where it WAS possible someone would be in to collect it. I informed them over the weekend, and no reply.
If I hear nothing by Friday, I may just give in and get the Sanwa stuff and do it myself. I may just do it myself anyway, the bother it’s caused me trying to straighten this out.
Okay… so guys I bought a SE stick off craigslist for 80 bucks… it was an hour drive… it won’t fking turn on… like… you hit the xbox button to turn it on right? Well it won’t turn on T_T. Is there anything I can try before I have to send it in? The usb plugged in is wiggly… is it suppose to be like this?
Um O_O I plugged it into the PC and it recognized it… then I plugged it into the 360 again and it recognized it this time lol… awesome. I completely thought I got jipped. But the stick does stick to the sides… gonna have to get on that.
Is there a thread in depth about fixing the the dpad from sticking to the sides?
