SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

Regardless, the point he’s trying to make is that something should work as advertised. $80 or $150 is still a decent amount of money for a peripheral.

You’re right about us buying Madcatz and knowing better, but when you see all these sites giving the sticks high accolades and skipping over every fault, it makes you second guess whether or not they’re really worth it. I took my last chance with the company, and they showed me what they’re really worth.

And while I am putting some ‘real’ parts in the case, I had a problem with the main pcb on my stick and now I’m waiting for Madcatz to repair or hell, even acknowledge that they recieved, my stick two days ago. It’s hardly a problem that real parts could fix.

I’d say calling them is your best bet. They’ll send you a prepaid shipping label to print approx a day after you make the call.

Just don’t expect them to inform you on the status of your stick, because it seems their customer support is about as reliable as their products.

anybody hear any word on when theyre gonna re-release this stick cuz i cant find anywhere that has 1 for sale… and if anyone has heard about a store that has them drop me a pm or somethin…

I had to call around to find the only one left at any gamestop in the Minneapolis metro area. They are getting really hard to find in-stock anywhere B&M.

I’m slowly losing responsiveness in my top left button (X). I opened it up, checked the connections. The plug was a little loose, so I figured that was the problem.

Yeah, no. luck.

I’d say that atm, it works about 80% of the time. I decided to map to the back three. But I’d like to fix the problem obviously.

My question is, would purchasing new buttons be the fix? Or is it something else? I don’t know anything about sticks, so the help would be appreciated.

ya ive called a few gamestops and they told me that theyre not even sure if the sticks are gonna re-release… it was almost like talkin about some classified info they kept sayin “we cant disclose shipment information” i almost forgot what we were talkin about… another gamestop told me that they think the sticks are only gonna re-release for customers that preordered the stick the first time around and didnt receive it due to its demand… i need 1 BAD but not bad enuf to spend 120-150 bux

Good luck with MC tech support. Like I have stated before, they have had my stick since the 25th and I had to call them to be told that the joystick was un-repairable and that they were on hold for parts. Their tech support is not good at all.

bottom line is whenever u buy a stick from the store expect it to be shit and need modding

and as far as reputable people go
they can only comment on units they actually played on not the product as a whole
its really just bad product testing in the end
this is what happens when you are trying to meet a deadline thats to soon

get your money back or replace parts
the se sticks have shit tastic parts in them

i replaced the stick itself with a jlf
the buttons arent that bad

That’s still missing the point. You might expect to mod it for better performance, or for better preferences. But not to necessarily mod it so you can actually use the thing. There’s a big difference there. You’re still paying $80 for working product. And when the product you paid for isn’t working at it’s minimal expectations, then there’s a reason to complain. And it’s a very valid reason.

Ppl here have very valid reasons to complain. Just because you don’t understand that, doesn’t mean they should shut up.

So by that logic, no reviews for any product should ever be read and taken seriously. The reviewers for Nvidia cards, Vehicles, HDTVs, etc. should not be listened to because they did not try every single unit that was manufactured. Nor should you listen to your friend who suggested you to try a drink he likes, unless he’s drank from that specific bottle first?

Seriously?

the TE sticks were limited to only 3000 for the first batch. They’re making more.
the FightStick has that washer issue & they stopped shipment to fix it.

sources say both sticks will be in stores middle of April.

I have a FightStick & the washer is not the only problem.

The stick’s directional controls would not register after 28 hours of use.
I can remedy the problem by moving the stick in all directions, but the problem still re-occurs.
Remember, the warranty is only 90 days, & MadCatz is not answering the phones lines :shake:

it sounds to me like your almost blaming them for the fact that the product is half ass and thats what im trying to point out
they were happy with the units they used

bad product testing is to blame not them

also i never said anyones opinions didnt matter so take that shit elsewhere

and when u are use to gooparts yes u mod them to make them playable

bottom line is u get what u pay for

what were u expecting out of an 80 dollar stick
thats what happens when u get shit cheap
substandard parts and a rushed product

just dont make it sound like its other peoples fault

EDIT: I’m not blaming them (MM or SKILL) for the half ass product. You were saying ppl shouldn’t have trusted MC. My rebuttal to that was only reason ppl trusted MC, was because MM and SKILL attested to the product. So don’t blame ppl for trusting in MC cuz they believed in MM/S-Kill.

I’m only debating with you on your views on telling people to stop complaining, and the standards you’re pushing upon people on sticks. And you’re not making any logical sense.

You’re basically saying people should expect a non-working product for $80. Well, incase you’re not aware, $80 is a lot of money to a lot of people. Many who are teens, or in college so they’re not exactly into their careers yet to just throw money away on a defective product.

What did they expect? At least at minimal, a functioning stick. You’re telling them only sticks at a certain price range should be expected to be functional and not to complain that they wasted money on the SE.

FYI, HORI EX sticks are only $50 - $60. Guess what? Even though their initial parts are pretty crappy, the sticks at least work!

You have been saying that it’s ok to spend $80 and expect nothing but a case so that you can spend more money on new parts so that you can actually use the stick.

The fact that you feel there’s logic in that is the part that boggles me. If the SE sticks were purely advertised as “Case only, you buy the rest of the parts to make it work”, then ok… no one to blame. But this was advertised as a working stick, modded or not.

You’re the one telling people to stop complaining when they have every reason to. Again, I say, Just because you don’t understand their point of view, doesn’t mean they should shut up.

You’re making it sound like it’s ppl’s fault for buying an SE and expecting it to work.

What the hell are you saying? You get what you pay for…If the product doesn’t work out of the box, how is that worth 80$ or even 50$ or less. Do you know the term DOA? And when this happens on a large scale and not just a few contained incidents, it becomes a big problem.

And the washer problem might not be the only issue here, some people reported button failure after swapping in Sanwa buttons which leads to believe that the main PCB might be defective. Others have reported bad connection for the USB connection wire(in the TE as well).

So what happens when you do what you suggest and replace the parts with Sanwa or anything else and the main PCB craps on you or others issues not related to stick/buttons? Warranty is voided, you spent an extra 50$ on parts and now you have a stick to use as paper weight…

ur missing the point, this stuff was being discussed a while back in this thread. i dunno what pages but somewhere from like pages 2-13 or something. u get what u pay for yeah, but it better work. hori makes those crappy 30-40 bucks sticks, i forgot what their called but they work out of the box and are shitty. but at least they arent defective. not everyone was gonna mod the sticks.

i have a bunch of sticks including the ex2 which sucks ass
yeah it works but its a piece of shit

and no im not saying people should not expect it to work
im saying i dont give a fuck who says their products are good
cause of their track record as far as im concerned they always gonna be shit

and fyi srk hates people who use the word logic
it makes u sound like emil srk’s logic demon and thats a terrible thing

u put in a six axis pcb

my whole point is dont expect shit from any stick u get from a game stop
i dont give a fuck what brand it is

yeah everyone wants a working product
thats just not the case with most commercial sticks u get not named hrap

people just get your money back and save a little more and spend 100 on an hrap 3
where the most u will ever have to mod if u wanted to would be the buttons
but even thats not needed if u dont want to

dont trust shitty companies in the future
and if u buy an hrap do not get the sf4 version its the same as a t5 stick

Alright I wanna glue the washer down in the SE, but I can’t get the restrictor plate off, is there an easy way to get it off? I ask because for the life of me I can’t pry this damn thing off.

Small flathead screwdriver + pieces of paper is how I did it.

I used a pocketknife to shave away bits of plastic from the black tabs (so it doesn’t have to flex as much) and the tiny portion of the restrictor plate that’s keeping the tabs from flexing back enough (so it can flex more). Then, with enough wriggling, you eventually get it to the point where the black tab is maybe corner-to-corner with the edge of the hole in the restrictor plate, and at that point I just used pliers to pinch the end of the black tab that’s sticking out through the hole towards the restrictor plate. Leverage!

Yeah just used a flathead screwdriver and got it out, thanks for the tip!

EDIT: Anyone have tips for getting out the e-ring as well, I check this thread and another on fixing the SE, however I still can’t get this damn clip off.

Alot of us bought ours from Gamestop and they are not accepting returns. They have been instructed to refer you to madcatz tech support.

this thread makes me glad mine was free
