How likely are the buttons on the SE fail? I already plan on modding the stick, but I’m worried about the buttons.
I havent bought mine today, im waiting till the actual game is in to grab it (or the te im hoping will arrive)
But my friend is the asst man at gamecrazy, and i went in tonight to check out if the stick felt like it had the washer/sticky joystick problem. I’m glad they got four sticks, heres why.
I havent owned a stick before, but i’ve played enough arcades to know that the stick shouldnt move like that. Instead of a smooth “clunk” into the sides/corners, you could feel it snagging whenever you moved it. I asked him if i could try the other sticks, second one felt the same way, but the third one felt fantastic.
Hopefully if the te doesnt arrive (which i dont expect) the se i picked outta the lot will work just fine. If i grab it, i’ll be opening it up as soon as i get home to see if the washer is loose and possibly repair it.
If it works though, it feels like it should be really nice and i cant wait to play with it.
Only reason im throwin this out there is, if its as obvious in the ones i tried (assuming i’m right anyway) you guys might bother opening the box before you leave and trying the joystick(s) on some of these. I’d read the sticks felt “loose” and the one i picked compared to the ones moving and snagging awkwardly definetly felt alot looser.
Going to have to go with an instant mod after reading this thread. What a shame .
So basically, if the stick is busted, you can tell right away? Awesome. I was worried that my stick, which I think works, won’t stay that way for long. When you open it up, please post as to whether or not the washer is loose.
If i end up purchasing it, which is very likely, i’ll be sure to do so.
I’m mostly just speculating, but after watching some video where the kid was showing it move (the washer), it seemed to me that thats what it would feel like if the washer was snaggin. But for the sticks to have such an obvious difference in the feel also kinda lent to that.
I hope i’m right though. …
Could you hear the washer scraping against the pcb? Or any difference in noise?
There wasnt any noise that i noticed, but i admitadly didnt think to really listen.
It was mostly just the feel that i noticed, and that wasnt hard.
From the looks of things, Madcuntz should have sold this stick purely as a ‘kit’ with no buttons, no joystick and no pcb (for a discount).
Maybe even thrown in a lubricated condom in the box so the anal violation is less painful. :wonder:
Me too, 7 days playing with my FightStick SE and all its ok
Waiting for sanwa stick and buttons to mod it but nothing to complain about.
I had a feeling this standard edition stick would be made with negligence since the greedy mofuckas spend all there time, energy and care nurturing the fcking TE stick and catering to the people who are willing to blow 160 bucks during the worst recession in American history. Luckily, before I even knew how bad the situation would be i ordered a sanwa stick yesterday morning, so i guess it was psychic intuition at work, and the fact that I got jerked before when i bought the HOri Ex2 last year.
I picked up an SE yesterday. It played fine for about the first hour and then the stick began to stick a little. After another hour, it wouldn’t recognize ‘down’. I’m assuming the washer destroyed the PCB. Returned it and ordered an HRAP EX and Sanwa buttons.
This thread and the news about the SE stick has caused me to cancel my pre-order with Amazon. I’m just going to pick up a pad to hold me over until this business with the washer gets figured out.
Really a bummer but I’m not going to gamble on getting a stick with a bad washer. I’m patient and can wait to see where this bad mojo with the SE stick goes. Really it sounds like a pretty obvious defect from the factory. I’m sure it will be corrected and I can wait until “rev B” of the sticks hit the stores.
Way to screw up a major product release Mad Catz.
well i called madcatz, the guy was trying to get a hold of markman and didnt really have an answer. he said he would call me back…
Hi,
i am from Germany. I ordered a MadCatz FightStick, but today i got the message that
the delivery from MadCatz is delayed by one month. Perhaps they are looking for a solution with their sticks. I think they should because we have 2 years warranty and they don’t want to get every single stick back i think.
How is it in other parts of Europe. Do you have that delay too?
I live in Italy, but I won’t go to gamestop before the 20th. I’ll let you know when the game comes out.
Do you know if they delayed the fightpad too?
I hope no, cause I don’t wanna play sf4 with the 360 pad -_-
All the madcatz streetfighter stuff is delayed as far as I know.
I returned my first SE stick that I posted about before, and picked up a second one today. (I had to call about 30 stores to find one.) The LB button wasn’t working. I popped open the case, pulled off the quick disconnects and reconnected everything. It must have gotten loose during shipping, because now everything seems fine.
I’ve already orders a JLF stick and OBSF-30 buttons, but I plan to use the Mad Catz hardware to play around with learning how to build a custom stick of my own.
Hi guys,
I live in France and ordered the SE stick through Amazon.co.uk. No delay as of now. I just hope the stick will work fine or else I’ll have to send it to Mad Catz repair center or get Sanwa parts to mod it. (I read on another thread that the fightpad has issues too)
My newest information is that complete europe will get no madcatz pads oder sticks until april. i hope this is not true…
Some french shop says the distribution by Mad Catz is terrible and they will only be able to honor one TE stick in 100 preorders !
