SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

seriously im pissed now. i mean damn i dont got money, i saw that this fightstick was cheap and they said that their sticks were great. my left dies out from playing the stick for what less than 6 hours and now i hear that sure easily moddable but impossible to get the screws out? sounds a bit sketchy and now im fucked. even if i return it i cant afford a stick im broke as fuck. this is a lose lose situation for me. sorry for the curse words. im just a bit frustrated right now hah this sucks

Freakin awesome!

Your review and onscreen persona that is… not your stick problem.

return it asap for a refund

tell them the product is defective and you dont want a different one

Yeah, I’m sure that after all this dies out no one will ever be able to trust Madcatz again, or at least not until they actually release a really good product that has no defects. I definetly need to mod my stick and to do that I’ll have to take out the screws! Dammit, I would’ve also ordered screws if I knew this was going to happen, I hope I can easily get them out…

Is the red gel problem in the TE sticks as well ?

I don’t think so since the stick for the TE is sanwa… but ask someone else as I wouldn’t know.

Genius. You should review other shit dude. And put that up on youtube, I’d subscribe

so let me get this straight markman, if i tried to mod the stick and it doesnt work out. can madcatz still help me out here? i am hearing that the screws are really hard to unscrew/they snap and stuff. i mean i want to mod the stick so everything works fine but there is that chance that it might not work. will madcatz still take care of us if we try to mod it and it doesnt work out? cuz seriously if not im just getting my money back and im just not gonna buy a stick. no money to buy a stick… i mean im going to call madcatz tomorrow and i wanna see if both answers are the same. i ahve a feeling that this answer is no or that when i call madcatz the answer will be no.

Just call them and explain the situation, if you need to speak with the supervisor, his name is Mike.

They won’t be open tomorrow btw, so call Tuesday.

That video was awesome!

The way I understand it is that it’s hard to take the stick off the mounting plate, but to take the mounting plate/stick off the actual housing is easy. So to replace the stick with a Sanwa that already has a mounting plate shouldn’t be a problem. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Got it yesterday.

Stopped working today.

What the fuck.

So my stick does not register the right direction at all. My friend is a stick modding machine and he said he’s willing to take a look at it. However I don’t want to be SOL on the warranty. Plus I’ve had problems in the past reguarding warranties being told one thing and it actually ends up being another.

I did some snooping around about MadCatz’ warranty thing

So I buy your stick which is guaranteed to be quality made from quality parts and its not working out of the box. Then I’m going to have to deal with not having a stick for a month-month and a half because of a defect? Shit seems kinda shady to me. I mean Madcatz products aren’t generally known for the quality but after speaking with MarkMan in Vegas about the stick and being ensured that it wasn’t a pile of shit slapped with sf4 artwork on it I felt that I was okay buying the stick. What a poor decision on my part. I’m thoroughly unsatisfied with the entire situation so far. However I’m going to call them on Tuesday and see what they have to say about it.

He’s to trying to do Shoryuken’s on the 360 controller!

My thoughts exactly…If they wanted you to mod the stick then why even include a faulty stick and buttons? Why not just sell the empty box and let you put your own parts in? Why would you want to pay more for the extra joystick/buttons (ones that don’t work right even) that you won’t even use??

Mad Catz said to trust them on getting quality products for this new SFIV product line and yet they missed it big time…and that is having a good QC to prevent defective products from being shipped out. It’s good that Markman is trying to find out what went wrong and trying to rectify it but why not prevent this issue from even happening in the first place with good QC?

I doubt warranty will be honored if you try to mod your stick (i.e. put in a new joystick and/or buttons). I think he meant that if your stick is defective and you try to repair it yourself and was unsuccessful, then you’ll still be able to get a replacement. Just my opinion though.

In any case, Mad Catz disappointed a lot of people here…promising quality but did not deliver.

Now I’m having second thoughts about my pre-order for 4 TE’s…

Now let’s be fair here, my friends and I have 3 SE arcade sticks.

I’ve basically played nonstop on mine, from beginning to end, except for like 1 5 hour period because I was at school. That’s it.

I’ve been playing a SHIT ton of 3rd strike on GGPO, parrying supers and doing demon flip combos out the ass.

The only thing that’s sticking is the ‘B’ labeled button on the 360 model.

Neither one of them have experienced defects either.

Am I risking it? No. I have a JLF, 6 buttons and 2 plugs on their way to me right now.

I am honestly really enjoying my stick, and considering it’s one of two I own (the other is a Green Goblin. That’s right, I’m just moving up from DC as of this thursday) I think I’ll have a lot of fun doing an artmod and LUoA mods.

Definitely worth the 80 bucks. My friends feel the same way.

alright ill give them a call tuesday, thanks markman and to thor777 my stick is defective. i want to repair it but i want to make sure that if i try and it doesnt work out that i can stillget a replacement.

Honestly? Don’t try to. MadCats has it in writing in the information that came with the stick that says “ATTEMPTING TO MODIFY YOUR STICK WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.” You can try to tell them that someone posted on a website saying otherwise but how do you think that will go over?

Considering Markman worked with Madkatz on making this stick possible, I have a feeling he is maybe on the inside regarding this matter. If Mark says you opened it up and can’t get it to work because of the joystick fault is okay and they’ll take care of you, it’s probably best to believe that they will.

I totally understand what you’re saying. Maybe you’re a glass is half full person. However I have a sour taste in my mouth from dealing with this stick. Along with reading the other problems people have been having with SE and TE sticks.

Still its just a post made on a forum somewhere. Versus whats PRINTED with the product. Regardless if VISHNU himself said it. It all boils down to a paper trail.

If I read right, your stick IS defective? It doesn’t matter if it’s just one button, if it doesn’t work right it’s defective…Yes, you don’t really care because you have parts on the way, but what about all the other people who don’t know about shoryuken.com and how to replace stock parts with arcade parts?

For $100 you can get a HRAP3 from amazon.com. Which is comparable to the TE’s less the Sanwa buttons. And that’s only $20 more than the SE. A JLF is $25 + shipping from lizardlick, if you add that to the SE, it comes out to $105, which is 5 more than the HRAP3, plus the fact that you have to void your warranty by opening up the box and installing it yourself (risking the chance to screw something up). Doesn’t make sense to get the SE, especially now that people are getting defective ones OOTB.
