whats ground control?
Classic arcade, and bar after 5pm.
EDIT:
Oh snap!
so whats happening at ground kontrol this wedensday?
Games… Like always, but you have to be over 21 after 5 Im pretty sure.
Oh, missed this post when it went up, sorry. GGs! Your Shun kept donkey-kicking me :china: I’m Travis and I’ve been working on my Lion a bit so next time I hit Versis I should have more tricks up my sleeve. More tricks than just my 4[PK] oki bullshit
In other news, I really like KOFXII although Shen’s 1-frame special links are a bitch. Definitely feeling Shen/Chin/Clark/Kim though.
Ground Kontrol is a pretty cool bar with a lot of classic arcade games and a kick ass upstairs loaded with pinball machines (my favorite part of the place actually).
Some people bring TVs and consoles during tournaments and the Wednesday special at the end of each month.

Nick and other players at Versis. If stuff gets recorded, how much do you guys care?
I might have to come thru n body nigs with my C viper . I’m sad I didnt enter sf4 at evo.
I used to be a video/replay whore. To the extent that at the New York Virtua Fighter Gathering in 2000, I brought two VHS Recorders about 20 10 hour tapes and made full use of them. Was addicted to saving replays on VOOT and 3S on the Dreamcast.
In the mid-part of the decade, I became a video scavenger whore for any VF4 (or even VF5) related videos. Just had to get everything and archive them.
With YouTube though… I think that side of me has gone more indifferent and I’m generally more focused on watching the strongest players on video.
THAT SAID… I’m cool with recording stuff and photographing events. They make great memories and the times have been fun

Rumors are that there is a new patch out for KOF12. Can anyone verify that this game doesn’t bite as badly anymore?
online still isn’t great from what I’ve heard, haven’t played to test for sure. Evan (x2oastrike) and I have good matches before the patch, so if you live nearish to people who play you can get good matches.
Yeah, well until I know that the patch is really good and fixes everything, I don’t see the point of spending 60 bucks or so
Who is going to versis tonight ?
No ride, and I’ve got this copy of KOFXII sitting here wanting to be taken and all
But I’ve got work early-ish tomorrow anyway so it’s probably better.
Not making it out tonight. I’ll try for next week or the week after.
Not going to be able to make it tonight. Guess that means i have another week to practice marvel. Looking forward to some good matches and lots of tips and help
CPU Honda and Spiderman are top tier
Good games last night… if anyone is tryin to trade their TE for an SE get AT ME!!!
**FIRST UP: Whether I promo it hard or not, I will do a Street Fighter 4 Tournament on Saturday, August 15th @ 8pm. I need community help to officiate the tournament because I’ll be on shift at that time.
I plan to promote the tournament, but I think there are clear limits to it because I’m announcing it so late. I’m putting this tournament on to help Team Portland/Vancouver prepare for the following week’s Northwest Majors.
I’m willing to setup other games on other stations after 9pm for anyone willing. Expect it to go super late.**
Last week’s Versis Session was a blast!
It did get to a bit of a rough start since we had a big party at the start, but it fighting games quickly resumed afterwards.
A note about this week’s Fight Night, we will have a similarly sized party up until 7pm, so I recommend starting the Fight Night a bit later this week. I might not be there until 8 or so because I have an evening meeting. But I plan on going pretty late on Thursday!
Big thanks to BBH and Ross for showing me more and more of KOF XII. I am totally enjoying the game now, especially thanks to your guys’ advice and time. I don’t expect to be kicking your guys’ asses, but I plan to give you guys much more of a challenge.
Something I love about KOF in general, that I realize more now: “This series might be the easiest competitive fighting game series to learn. However, that doesn’t mean it’s quick or easy to become good at the game–but I’m surprised how much easier this game seems to learn to maximize damage or understand its engine once you grasp a few principles.”
Again, this game probably takes a lot of experience to become good at fighting other people in KOF, but to learn how to execute stuff, it’s much simpler or maybe less “mushier” than a lot of other games.
Nice seeing Ross and Bumperfront duking it out in BlazBlue too. I’m also enjoying that game a lot at home, though it’ll be awhile before I feel comfortable competing in that game.
SF4 sessions looked great as usual. Especially with Rayblade, Sam Y, Sam B., Scott, and Matt duking it out on the same station.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 stole the two Sams and Jetay away for awhile and man… They did a good job porting MvC2 to Live as far as I can tell!
The VF5 sessions between our new members (Michael and Tim) were pretty nice. The fights between Hien, Yangsing, Rayblade, Jetay, and myself were all pretty awesome and I think there was a lot of variety in how the battles played out. It was an awesome VF night!
I think Hien and Yangsing also loved the Replay Review we did of Jetay’s WCG match. I think we might have to do like 3-5 replay evaluations each fight night, just to take a break and re-evaluate how we all play our own games!
Anyways, it was an excellent night and it went really late again-5am… Took me a long while to recover!
Thanks to the following players for making it an awesome night:
- FullMetalRoss
- BumperFront
- Michael (new)
- Tim (new)
- SlayU2
- RaybladeX
- Yangsing
- Hi3n
- Scott
- Derek
- Lord BBH
