WOW, one of my favorites. This needs to be put in a video!

I donno how Huntrek, Speedy keep up with the wiki… It’s as up to date as I can see in the thread. If you guy’s see mods not there, just bump it in a quote please.

Hi everyone, first post here and all, but I’m kinda excited about what I’m gonna talk about, so you guys get no introduction and I get to cut to the chase real quick. =p

I’ve been highly amused for the past few days watching the many mods the SRK community has come out with for PC SF4, and thus, I’ve been thinking about writing a mod manager (probably in C#, as most of the stuff I do) to ease up on installing, using, enabling and disabling mods. However, even though I browsed the mod wiki a bit (that, plus, as any good programmer, I’m damn lazy =p so sue me), I’m still left in the dark about a few things.

  1. I’ll admit I’ve been lazy and haven’t tried to actually download a mo-- scratch that, I just downloaded one. By what I see, I’m led to believe that, for instance, RYU_01.cos.emz is the mesh file, and RYU_01_XX.col.emz are the texture files. Is this supposition right or wrong? I can’t really test this on my machine, since I’m working on a laptop and to actually play the game, I have to reduce everything to minimum settings, and even then it runs at a mere 30fps. (So no playing full speed for me.)
  2. The mods are used by simply naming them as/replacing the official files?
  3. Is there anything inside the actual texture file (the .EMZ files) that identifies the mod or anything of the sort? That might be useful when handling many mods at once.
  4. Are all mods designed to be used in a specific color slot? If so, unless my math is failing me, all characters have a maximum of ten colors, right? Then why exactly are two sets of texture files for each character? (This includes everyone having what I think are two mesh files as well.)
  5. Is there any way to “validate” a mod file to confirm the file is a valid file that the game can use?
  6. Is the directory structure for the game fixed, no matter its installation source? As in, for instance, the Steam version of the game has both StreetFighterIV.exe and SF4Launcher.exe in what we’ll call the root directory, where the /Battle folder also resides. Does the standalone version of the game have this folder structure? (The launcher and the game executable being in the same folder level as the /Battle folder, I mean.)

The answers to these questions might give me enough information to start working on a mod manager for the game, so it’ll be highly appreciated if you could answer those. Many thanks in advance! =D

Yeah, someone who made the “shaolin gouken” know how to apply the transparency to only one costume, i don’t know how to do that so i applied it to all of em!

@ShikiTohno:

  1. Yesh the 01.cos is the mesh file
  2. Yup we just need to replace the original files!
  3. As i know there’s nothing that could make a big difference except that the size get bigger when it’s a mod but maybe i’m wrong, not sure!
  4. there’s a 01.cos and 01_xx.col.emz and another set is 02.cos and 02_xx.col.emz! ^^
  5. the only thing i’m sure can make a mod fail is when the texture file is saved the wrong way as exemple, some files are dxt5 and others are dxt1, if u save as a dxt1 when it got to be a dxt5 it fucks up!
  6. the difference of the folder can be with Windows 7 in my pc it is "Programmes\CAPCOM… " and not "Program Files\CAPCOM… " like it would be in Windows XP.

You should check out this thread before you do any work: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=201403

  1. Duly noted.
  2. Duly noted.
  3. Hmm… If anyone else can offer input on this issue, it’d be greatly appreciated. If there’s actually a way to identify mods by inserting data inside the mod file itself so that the mod manager can read it, it’d be much easier to actually manage the files.
  4. I know there’s two sets, lol. =p I’m just wondering, why are there two sets for all characters, if there’s only 10 costumes and 1 actual mesh for each? Unless I’m missing something key here?
  5. So aside of testing it directly with the game, there’s no real way of determining whether a mod is actually valid or not? Huh. Crashes galore much? =p (Not like this was gonna actually help MANAGE the skins – I just wanted to know to add a validation feature to the manager.)
  6. Haha, you misunderstand me. I don’t actually really care about the folder structure TO the game. I’m talking about the folder structure INSIDE the game folder. As in, StreetFighterIV.exe, SF4Launcher.exe and /Battle/ all are in the same folder level? Knowing that will come in handy when configuring the manager, since if the in-game folder structure is the same, the user would only need to point the manager to the game installation folder, and the manager would work its way on its own from there.

EDIT:

Huh, someone went ahead of me. XD I’ll check this out and see if I can offer any input on collaborating with it for further improvements. =O

I’ve released a skin pack for Rufus : modifications for colors 7 to 10

I was wondering if I can request a rey mysterio El Fuerte, since it seems like a natural fit, and there has been plenty of excellent wrestling skins for other characters (Sagat goldberg is amazing). here is a picture of rey, hope it helps.

changing color numbers

Is there a way to change which color the custom skin replaces? Lets say the file skin is set to replace color 10, is there a way to change it to 3, or something?

Texture

Bison as MK’s Raiden anyone?
