SF4 Dash Cammy buffs wishlist

So, here’s an insane suggestion. I actually think that Cammy is a very strong character who is solidly mid-tier. Down back is a bitch, but she’s got great pressure and throw games. I’ve said she could use a back + MK Ken style overhead in this thread before, but I have a better idea.

We’re all concerned about her forcing an opponent to not just block low all day. A simple overhead creates a threat, but I don’t think medium strength overheads are enough to make a person think in this case. A solid damage option would be awesome.

So why not change -nothing- about her, except give her just one thing: Something along the lines of a Urien or Dudley style forward HP or forward HK? Potentially one that can link into nothing but her super?

Honestly, I don’t care whether or not she receives this. I think she’s a fine character as is, but down back is a problem. I think a simple, quick hard hitting overhead is enough. If it can only link into her super, that’d be perfect and give the opponent something more to be wary about. The mindgame threat is excellent (maybe overpowered, I dunno. I’m willing to concede that.)

A potentially nutty suggestion, but think about the fact that she’d get nothing else? Cammy with Dudley’s dartshot could be crazy, but just an FP overhead? She’s British after all; She can “live like a gentleman, and fight like a gentleman.” Let’s give her boxing gloves while we’re at it. I dunno, flame away if necessary!

I also found a few more issues with Cammy…

  1. Her j.lk needs more block/hit stun… So many times I successfully crossed with her j.lk (difficult to begin with), I get thrown or DP before I even landed… WTF

  2. Her HK or EX SA has messed up properties. When used as an anti-air, your opponent recovers before you do and you end up eating DP, EX, throws, supers or Ultras… WTF

  3. Her head/upper body hit box while standing/blocking is HUGE (I would say it has the same size as Honda. So many times I saw a cross up coming, with other characters such as shotos or rose, I can simply step forward while they are jumping and completely mess up their cross up, but with Cammy stupidly large hit box, even with her walking speed, I CAN’T move out of the way fast enough to avoid a deep cross up. This does NOT make any sense to give her such large hit boxes… She’s one of the easiest character to score a cross up on…

Honestly, I really don’t think down back is the biggest problem for Cammy. Her mixup options are so powerful that if your opponent is blocking ANYTHING from Cammy, they’re in a really, really uncomfortable position. Safe spikes with meter, throw, TK Strike, all really good damage if you get it (throw being the least amount of damage, but you still get to continue your pressure)

Her problem is that she has to work so damn hard to get in to her sweat spot. No GOOD poke (or fireball) means your opponent can just spam out their good pokes to keep her out, meaning you have to get risky to try and get in (jump, FA, whiff punish with lk arrow, random spike, all really really risky). She needs a way to get your opponent to just stop pushing buttons at mid range and let you in. Give her a Chun-like sweep, and I’d be so very happy =]

She kind of feels like CvS2 Iori. She’s got tons of tough matches, but no matter how tough the match, if you get in you can win, sometimes overwhelmingly, thanks to massive damage combos and crazy oki pressure.

…But at least Iori had ground pokes and a fireball =/

So you want:
-Hooligan to grab standing crouching and midair opponent (so no safe position against this move)
-Canon strike to be an overhead (which mean those who need a down charge to be able to antiair consistently would be pretty much dead once you’re close)
-Spiral arrow to be Armor break (it would likely be the best anti FA in the game since it faster than tiger knee, so no one would dare FA her anymore)
-to punish fireballs on reaction with a faster spinning back fist ( and since you can ultra after it she would be like a chun li that dont have to keep a charge, or something like a mix of a shoto and abel.

She would be a little overpowered dont you think?

This. I don’t think Cammy really needs anything. A quick overhead might help. I even think the linking into super might be okay because Cammy players have lots of things to spend meter on, but really, she’s a good character.
She has one counter-character (Gief) so when they make dash they should make that matchup better and call it a day IMO. Personally I think they should ONLY change the 7-3 matchups in this game and stop before they screw it up and Vega becomes top tier again.

I think a really cool buff would be if cannon spike were unpunishable by Gief like in Super Turbo. She needs that.

only 1 counter character? how about all camping nubs ryu/sagat/ken, they counter her way better

I was just thrown out of Cannon Spike. Not a command throw, not an ultra… just lp+lk. :frowning:

i would like to have just one extra move…

like a unique move - even if they arn’t very usefull - , nothing special, but just something to keep us entertained & to experiment with. since we mostly use kicks they could give us a unique punch.

That would totally screw me up. half the time I don’t even know where they are lol

they could replace cl.hk with ANYTHING and i would be happy

*i got akuma ultr’ad out of a cspike.
*spd out of a spiral arrow
*spd out of a canon strike

I know those work. I’ve been command thrown out of a lot of stuff before. I just didn’t expect to be thrown out of a standard throw…

I think Cammy’s the only one who doesn’t have any "special normals"
What would be some good ones that would benefit her??
I think :df::k: should make her do a front flip over the opponent and land a kick on the other side and can’t be blocked while crouching. Would make a great cross-up move!

You mean after it’s been blocked? Or during startup frames?

Like Chun-li? Would be like a rip-of of that move, but I would love something like that. You don’t stand a chance against turtles like Balrog etc. It’s just frustrating… I always go back to other chars if I know that turtle and has to face him again.
I would love to play just Cammy without picking other characters in some situations.

A hooligan throw against crouching people would be nice.

first off, I just want to point out Boxer’s a chump. It’s pretty rare for me to loose to one. You can throw him out of his dash punches. Now that I know the trick, it’s really easy. I’ve mentioned it on the boards before somewhere…

I would want forward (far away) heavy punch to be something like her gauntlets shoot off like rockets, exploding when they get close to your opponent or if they get hit by someone’s fireball. The explosion would deal splash damage.

you can grab him before the punch comes out. Its still something i need to work on

EDIT: I dont think i contributed to the thread. Hooligan should be a bit faster, grab crouchers, have a dive kick included, a button for a cancel instead of a whiff the grab to cancel it, and QCF+P motion.
It makes no sense for Gouken and Akuma to have a better version of the move cammy originally had. It needs beefing badly.

she needs one more option to beat gief more consistently. Perhaps a new normal

I think the change in hooligan alone makes cammy really powerful with loads of mixup in addition to her godly anti-air options. A reduction in health might be inorder to balance things out a little bit
