SF4 AE: Fei Long Enquires

random but frineds call me noob for playing fei cause hes “so called” top in AE regardless how long ive been playing him… but am i the only one that doesn’t notice the significant changed that making him so godly cause kids look at a Tier list?

Most people got nerfed like hell, which eases up Fei Long’s matchups, his already amazing normals got even better, has the necessary tools to beat the twins who are top tier, and because Mago plays him.

So far I noticed some small differences, and that HK CW nerf is really annoying to adjust to. I’m being treated the same way though, just because of that damn list.

If your names not Mago, Daigo or Tokido Tier list do not apply to you or your friends (or their friends).

I repeat… !

The invention a “chart” that can determine the power of one character over the other is nothing more than a bunch of guy’s that have nothing better to do than bitch about how Fei’s 1 frame on his standing jab now makes him “God like”.

Do you think you could beat Mago if he played Hakan…? Seriously , people that bitch about lists can’t play the game. End of.

^ True dat.

I think character tiers do make a difference once you’re at least better than average, though the difference between a C and a B+ character may not be as pronounced until you reach pro level.

I would note though that even if Mago calls himself the 2D God, I’m sure I can still beat him consistently if he tried to play Hakan. The character differences are just too great, and this “God-hood” is somewhat over-exaggerated. He’s a great player for sure, and sharp as a tack, but don’t put it past the best player in Podunk, USA to beat him a few times out of 10. Its not as far of a gap as some people make it seem. Maybe it was back in the 3s era when Japan could covet their tactics from prying eyes, but not so much anymore.

Of course, that’s not to promote bitching about tier lists all day. They are what they are, though its understandable how some characters are a bit overpowered in this version. At very early levels, I would agree that there’s no sense in even thinking about tier lists. Makes no sense.

I understand what your saying, and I really think for the most part your right. But believe me, I’ve seen Mago play some of the best players here in Australia at our tournaments, players that make me piss, and absolutely destroy them with alt characters in succession like a hot knife through butter.

People on a level like J Wong (J Wong random select?!) Daigo , are truly gifted. I think the gap is massive myself (i’d like to think it’s not !), each to his own though!

For the most part though, and this is what I suppose Highland was getting at, is that the people who always go off tier lists, and continually bitch and moan about them and how a character is so over powered, are the same people squirming because you’re within half screen of them etc.

I thought Mago switched to Cody.

When one directs his mind, body and spirit honestly anything is possible… their is no such thing as natural talent or being a genius, only hard work and attention to detail.

Everyone here has the potential to be the next mago, diago, tokido or justin. To achieve you must first believe…

ps: - hakan is no joke here are some clips of El Kalam (one of the best hakans along with Wildcat):

Yea Hakan did get a lot scarier with Oil and it sometimes frightens me to stand up from crouchblocking when he has it since his sweep suddenly gets so much range and his OS to Slide is dangerous. His mix-ups require a certain range to be optimal though and I think Fei can play against that very well. I actually find Gief to be a bit scarier still with his new SPD range.

yea geif’s SPD range is scary, but with his ex green hand not knocking down… it leaves him in a very scary 50/50 when he has U2.

Hakan is a little more frightening now, but I think it really depends on what U they have. For example if they have U2 and it goes ready, never jump, CW, or f+s.mk after that. A lot of the time (unless the Hakan is very attentive to this), the player will buffer the ultra and try to catch you with it, while eating pressure from normals and picking away at the health bar. I think U1 is the scary one because of that FADC off of the slide into a possible Ultra. I never expect Hakan to FADC from the slide, so it gets me here and there.

About Gief, I’ve had an annoying time against him. Random lariat and his normals stuff me, but that may be due to my patience against grappling characters.

In any case, as far as tiers, you guys should check out the fight between Mago and Poongko:

Fei v. Seth was regarded as 6-4 in Super when Seth still had his j.HP to zone. I don’t know where Seth stands now with his changes, but there has been ZERO mention of him being near the top.

Spoiler

The match goes 11-7, Poongko in this set, but it was mentioned on Eventhubs that the total score was 17-15 Poongko after further matches. That’s pretty dead even despite Fei being “S tier” and Seth being a middle-of-the-road character. Just goes to show that being a higher tier doesn’t say very much about the match-ups themselves or the players behind the characters.

I wonder why he went with ultra 2

Probably expected to be a predictable opponent, but that clearly wasn’t the case. Definitely saw some interesting normal trades watching the footage.

Thats a really good set. Yea, about tiers i feel people just take the word of top players and decide based on that rather looking at the options yourself. Not many people know of hakans ss dive’s and its resets, and now this footage of seth. Fei is not S tier at most A, he always has been since vanilla

We’ll have to see how it all pans out.

Ultra 1 wouldn’t have made much sense in the fight really. There isn’t much Fei can Focus against Seth reliably, and the extra 80 damage on the juggle probably wouldn’t have been worth giving up an anti-pressure Ultra. If Mago used U1 Poongko could’ve did a ton more safe-jumps and started much scarier pressure. If you notice, because Mago picked U2, Poongko had to opt for more dive-kick baits than actual cross-up pressure.

Omg were is this shit going
