SF3: Third Strike HD Remix

So I was looking at this 3S poster by Ikeno this weekend, and I realized how cool it was that he basically drew the idle pose for each character and made a poster. Then I thought to myself that if SF3 were ever to be made in HD, the sprites would HAVE to look like this!

So I gave it a shot and tried to make Ryu based on that poster, this concept art of Ryu and the original SF3 sprite.

I wasn’t going to go and animate the entire thing frame by frame, so I did a little aftereffects magic, and here’s what I ended up with:

It was hella fun, but this process would only work on simple idle anims like the shotos. As soon as you try to do something with Y rotation like a hurricane kick, then you’re basically better off drawing every single frame.

I’m going to post a process tutorial soon.

Not much action here so I’m posting updates over here: http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=139727.0

You just couldn’t wait for two weeks to post this, could you?

that’s some $ick work. Would love to see what you could do with Gouki.

That looks freaking amazing.

I was extremely disappointed when I found out SF3TS Online Edition wasn’t going to be an HD Remix.

Do Akuma brah! Pleeeease :open_mouth:

I wish Capcom would make an arcade HD remix. I would be in love.

beautiful drawings! you got ikeno’s style down perfectly!

Can you post more on the process like you did with Ryu in the Mugen forums for the other two characters as well? Pretty amazing. Although I’m kinda not diggin the animation itself, the style looks to be very true to the original artwork. Great job.

I dont believe this. at all. my brain is going bananas right now. and that Nemesis sprite just made my night. I can’t wait for that tutorial man

…Any chance for Sean???

Hey steamboy!! I see you’re back!!! somewhat lol. Nice work bro!!!

Awesome artwork, and interesting technique that isn’t far off from the original game.

I’d buy it just cause it looked like that lol Pretty goo- no its not pretty its AWESOME WORK.

All of them look amazing keep up the good work.

There was actually a game (well 2 games) that used a similar animation style: Anyone heard of Rumble Fish? These are really freakin’ cool though.
