SF3: 3S - What capcom could've, should've, but didn't do

First of all, the SF2 characters are archetypes, not stereotypes. There is a difference.

3S is different. Hence why a lot of players say it is NOT a Street Fighter game. If it didn’t have the shotos and Chun-Li, they could have gotten away with calling it something else entirely.

And learn to read, because I clearly said, with regards to gameplay, that I would like to see them “get rid of the parries or otherwise severely alter then”. SF3 lacks most of the character types that the other Capcom/Street Fighter games have.

THREE. Street Fighter THREE. NOT TWO. THREE. 3. IT’S A NEW FUCKING GAME.

There’s no true shoto, no equivalent to a Vega, or Rolento, or Bison, no true grappler (cause everybody is at least a semi-grappler, so it kinda loses focus) Chun-Li doesn’t play like Chun-Li, and the Guile wannabe sucks if you actually try to use him like Guile.

BECAUSE IT ISN’T STREET FIGHTER 2.

Shotos in 3s = 3s Shotos. It’s true. What do you want, a fucking Budweiser ad? You know why there’s no Vega equivalent? Because it’s a NEW FUCKING GAME. WITHOUT VEGA. No Rolento? Oh shit, maybe ROLENTO ISN’T IN THE GAME! No ‘true grappler’ has ever appeared in a fighting game. Go watch some MMA. Chun Li plays like 3s Chun Li. You know, like, THEY CHANGED THE GAME IN BETWEEN VERSIONS!

And why bitch that Remy isn’t guile, and sucks if you use him like he’s Guile? He’s not Guile. He’s a new character that just happens to throw charge projectiles that look like Sonic Booms.

I understand if you like SF2 more than SF3, but complaining that SF3 isn’t SF2 is just plain dumb.

I’ve had the impression that 3s is really the first “true” SF game since SF2. It really doesn’t feel that much different from SSF2T aside from the new cast and various subtle gameplay tweaks.

I think capcom needs to go ahead and do Stf4 add some brand new characters. Fix sean back to his 2nd Impact self. Don’t weaken
characters like yun, Ken, or chun just fix the weaker 3s characters. leave throws the same. Make overheads like they were in 2nd
impact. Leave the speed the same. Make the parry timing like CvS2.
Then you have the best Stf ever. My $.02.

Hello I’m back again.

Why do people call SF3 cast freaks?

I mean in the New Generation outside of Necro, Gill (who isn’t even playable), and I guess Oro(who really was just ugly and let’s see how you look living beyond a century). But how are they any more freakish than an Indian dude that wears skulls and breaths fire(Yoga? Whatever the fuckever)or some green man-animal that rolls like a ball through the air? Or a dude that looks like dress a cop with a cape fetish flys through with a flaming effect (seriously Capcom has been hinting about Bison/Vega as a pervert for years).

I never got the whole freak arguement when discussing SF3 cast, especially since damn near all fighting games feature a bunch of weirdos. Hell the only character I come close to disliking because of design is Remy, that is only because his angsty backstory was kind of stupid.

Oh yeah and in reply to Ultima on the whole ‘What kind of assinine statement is that.’ What I meant was Capcom had been getting knocked for years on not bringing forth a SF sequel, and people were already leaving for other fighting games because of the whole stigma. Not to mention who wants to be known for peddling the same shit out over and over again, when they can come up with something different. As someone else had mentioned, they wanted SF3 to be a new game, just like SF2 was in comparision to SF1.
