Sf2 champion edition cab

I have the chance to puchase a Street Fighter 2 champion edition arcade machine. The only stated issues is the color flickers in and out and it needs a quarter safe. Just wanted to get some direct info from anyone who might know.

What is the general value of this system? Is the monitor issue an easy fix? And what options do I have as far as getting other games for it? I would really like to be able to get 3rd strike, would that work on this cab? Any input is appreciated, thanks!

The monitor can be a huge deal until you find out exactly what is wrong with it. It could be a cap needing to be replaced all the way up to needing a whole new monitor. Forget the coin mech, just put your games on freeplay in the DIP and nothing to worry about. As long as the internal structure is good and the wiring/harness is all together (and monitor isn’t totally fucked) a couple hundred bucks won’t be a bad deal.

What would a new monitor cost? How would I go about diagnosing the issue with it?

What about my options of purchasing other games? They’re called jammas correct? Is there a certain generation or series I can put in?

For diagnostic stuff you can’t get much better than here: http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14

As for other games, it does use a jamma harness but for 6 button games you have a kick harness to think about and the difference between the Champion Edition one (CPS1) and something like Alpha or Third Strike (CPS2 and 3). There are converters out there though so you can use a CPS1 kick harness with a CPS2 system and vice-versa.

Make an account on neo-geo.com and on arcadeotaku.com. They have a wealth of info that SRK doesn’t when it comes to cabs. On arcadeotaku they have a subsection that just deals with monitors and the guys are really nice and informative.

If you want to get REAALLLY technical, the KLOV forums have an excellent monitor troubleshooting section.

But a couple hundred seems about right for a CE cab. Is it a 19" or 25" monitor??

Ok so I found a different cab. But the thing is 75 miles away. I’m trying to figure out options to move it. Uhaul is out of the question, too expensive. If I were to transport this in a van, is it safe to put it on its side? Someone mentioned that you can’t, but this source isn’t very knowlegable.

You can put it on it’s back. I wouldn’t put it on it’s side. Just make sure your careful.

What is the big blue champion edition cab called?

I know it’s not the dynamo or Z cab.

Anyone know what’s it called?

Thank you.

I always thought they were just called “Big Blue”.

Heh.

There’s no actual term? I thought that was just a nickname for it.

Not too sure, I always called it Big Blue.

Dash’MBF on here has a couple Big Blue and Dynamo’s.

I have a 19" Dynamo running my PS2 stuff.
